Live simply...

Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create GDT post I have made a card. I tried to do something different today and have stolen one of Abs' background techniques...

Here's how:

I inked up this background stamp with Distress Oxide inks. I used only three colours: Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed and Salty Ocean. I rubbed the stamp with my fingers where the colours met to mix them, then spritzed with a small amount of water and stamped. The pink and blue made purple, pink and yellow made orange and the yellow and blue made green ! I did think it was too bright though, so I brayered over white paint until I was happy with the result.

Next I stamped the edges with grey and black ink, overlapping the two. I also added some doodle lines which you can see in the next picture.

I then thought about Abs' technique with Distress Crayons, so I gave it a go. Put the stencil on, scribble with two colours of Distress Crayons and blend out with your finger. I chose colours that went with the background.

I chose my focal point, this little girl by Janet Klein, coloured her with my Copics and cut her out.

Before I put everything together I added some splatters with a black paint pen.
I added two bits of washi tape, one for her to stand on and one in the right hand top corner. I glued her down. For the sentiment I chose a sticker by Tim Holtz that I thought fitted her well.

I have used the following stamps:

#336 - Bold Alphas by Bipasha BK
#338 - Background Noise by Janet Klein
#358 - Paw Prints by Janet Klein

Stencil:
#87 - Totally Dotty by Autour de Mwa

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

For this weeks Vera lane Studio blogpost I have made a tag and an ATC. I have used sets that have been out for a little while for both.

For this tag I printed the Doodle Love girl and one of the dogs. In the original digi she is looking up to the biggest dog but I wanted her to look straight ahead, so I used a white paint pen to get rid of her pupils and drew in some new ones. I also cut off her hand and put it on the dog, so it looks like she is holding the puppy. I coloured both with Copic Markers and added them to this tag that I made with a piece of inky paper from my stash. I just added a little stamping, washitape and some paint.

You'll find Doodle Love HERE

This ATC is made with Ice Cream Jean, she is lovely although not too happy today ! lol
I coloured her, cut her out and put her on this piece of gell printed paper. I added some black lines and the sentiment..

You'll find Jean HERE

Why fit in..

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog where today I am sharing a journal page that I made for VivaLasVegaStamps!

and here is how I made it:

I got the new Distress Oxide Speckled Egg this week and had to try it out.. So I made this page with it and really liked it. I just smooshed the ink pad on my non stick craft sheet and spritzed with water, I then dunked the paper in, drying it between dunking.
I used Speckled Egg, Ground Espresso and Antique Linen.

Next I added some modelling paste through a stencil.

I then used another stencil as a stamp and printed it here and there on the page. I used the Ground Espresso ink again. You smear it over the stencil, spritz with water and print on your page.

Next I stamped the page here and there. You'll find a list of stamps used at the bottom of this post.

She is sooo cute, sitting in her box... lol, I stamped her and coloured her. When I was done I cut her out.

And here it is all put together..

I used the following stamps:

Other materials:
Mixed Media paper
Distress Oxide Ink - Speckled Egg, Antique Linen and Ground Espresso
(I also used these same inks for stamping)
Versafine Clair ink to stamp the image
Zig Clean colour brush Markers
Grunge paste

Good things take time

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog where today I am sharing another project I made for AALL & Create. I have created a round artjournal page.

Here's how I made it:

First I had to use my Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink again. I smooshed the ink on my craft sheet, spritzed with water and dunked the paper in it. I repeated this until I was happy, drying in between layers. I then used a Graphite Modelling paste that I have had in my stash for ages with this circle stencil. There are some really small glittery bits in the paste, which were impossible to photograph.

Next I stamped the background with the same Speckled Egg ink.

Adding some more stamping with black ink this time along the edges. I also rubbed some black acrylic paint along the edge where the stamping is.

I then stamped the clock onto some pattern paper because I was going to leave it uncoloured. I didn't like that though, so added some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo with a water brush.

Before I glued the clock onto my background I stamped part of the image on the circle too. I just then realised that I should have stamped it before adding the modelling paste.. but I managed to get some of the detail of the stamp on the page.
I wasn't happy with it though and sat ages looking at it to decide what to do...

I stamped one of the flowers of set #324 twice to try and use as them as collage pieces. I wasn't sure if it was going to work so I didn't want to stamp directly onto my page. After stamping, I cut the flowers out.

I think it works really well. I used parts of the flower on the right hand side by cutting the flowers apart. I used almost the whole image on the left hand side and tucked the sentiment underneath.

I have used the following stamps :

#338 - Background Noise by Janet Klein
#336 - Bold Alphas by Bipasha BK
#324 - Blooming Beauty by Bipasha BK
#325 - Time Up by Bipasha BK

Stencil:
#61 - Circle chain by Aida Domisiewicz

I'd rather be in my garden

Hello everyone,

Today I am sharing my second inspiration project for the "Summer Fields" challenge over at Country View Challenges. We would love you to play along with us but make sure you comply with the rules and the theme. You'll find both on the Country View Challenges BLOG.

I have made a mini journal page this time :

And here is how I made it:

First I chose some tissue paper pieces to adhere to my page.

I then decided to add some book paper first. I have a few old novels lying around to tear pages out. They last forever..

I then added the tissue over the top and, with my fingers, I smeared some acrylic paint to tone some if it down slightly.

Next I added some stencilling.

I wanted to use a paper doll but couldn't find one in the 'normal' ones so I chose one from the Halloween peeps. I coloured her and placed her in my background. I did add some more paint where her head was going to go to make it stand out a little more.

I chose this sentiment from an AALL & Create stamp set by Tracy Evans.

And here it is..

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For this week's Vera Lane Studio DT post I have made a bookmark/tag and a card.

This is Ice Cream Jean, she came out last week I think. I placed her on a piece of paper that I dunked into some left over acrylic paint. Sometimes these backgrounds are the best. I liked it so much that I decided not to put anything else on it. Jean was coloured and cut out and adhered to the tag on top of some washitape. I then added the sentiment.

You'll find Ice cream Jean HERE.

This clean and simple card used just one element of the "Warm Wishes" set. I think sometimes less is more. I just placed the images where I wanted them on the screen and printed it out, I coloured the flowers and then decided to use a mat made of pattern paper. I cut the panel slightly smaller adhered it onto the mat and then glued the whole thing to a blank card.

You'll find Warm Wishes HERE

You had me at bacon

Hello everyone,

It is Tuesday and that means another project from me for AALL & Create. I have used all new release stamps and stencils but one, which is the crown form the 'Hat Drama' set. I decided to make an Artjournal page and here it is:

And here's how:

First I made a gelli print with this stencil. I then cut the prettiest bit out of the A4 I printed. The finished size is about 19 x 14,5 cm.

I then used these two stamp sets to random stamp the background. I used Distress Oxides and Versafine Clair. It depends on the colours I need more than the type of ink.

I then used this stencil and some modelling paste to add some texture to my page.

Next I stamps some images from these sets to make my focal point.

I coloured everything with Copic Markers, adding shading at the end with coloured pencils. I then cut them all out.

And here it is all put together. I really like how it turned out.. I did add some book paper because I thought that the colour bar that the are standing on was to much so I toned it down by gluing a piece of book text over the top. Funnily enough it has the word 'breakfast' on it..

I have used the following stamps and stencils:

Stamps:
#284 - Hat Drama by Janet Klein
#338 - Background Noise by Janet Klein
#339 - Colour Theory by Janet Klein
#345 - Bacon by Janet Klein

Stencils:
#94 - Sundew by Olga Heldwein
#97 - Starry Night by Janet Klein
