A simple card

 Hello everyone,

Today I have a simple card to share with you. I made this for AALL & Create and it showcases beautifully how part of a stamp and some colour and washi tape can make a great card.

Here's how I made it:

I smooshed some Distress Oxide ink on this border stamping block and sprayed it with water. I used Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed and Broken China. I then placed it ink side down on a piece of watercolour paper. I waited a few minutes before taking it off.

I then dried it with the heat tool and this is what it looks like after drying.

Next I stamped one of these stamps by Tracy on it, using a stamping tool because the paper is a little bumpy and I wanted a nice black print.

I then used watercolour markers and a water brush to colour some parts of the stamp.

Next I added some washi tape here and there.

Lastly I added some black lines, white splatters and finally glued the panel onto a white card.

I used :
Border Stamping block
Stamp: #449 - Through the Meadows by Tracy Evans
Washi:
#17 - Mix & Match by Janet Klein
#21 - Beachrock by Janet Klein
#32 - Take risks (light) by Autour de Mwa

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! Today I am sharing two journal pages that I have made for Vera Lane Studio. The first one has the new set 'Toucan do it' that came out this week. The second is an older set called 'Marine Mammals'.

This page is 6"x6" and the background was made with a gelli plate, an AALL & Create stencil and Pan Pastels. You can get really cool results with Pan Pastels. Just not easy to remove from your plate. I used vegetable oil which takes it off in no time. You can also use baby oil. Just wipe the oil off after.
The Toucans were printed, coloured and cut out. I didn't add anything to my background apart from a few pieces of washi tape and some black lines because I liked it as it was. I added the sentiment that came with the set and was that ! :o)

You'll find this set called 'Toucan do it" HERE.

This mini page was made with a gelli print (a regular one with paint) from my stash. I added stamping and framed the painted area with black lines. I stuck down some washi tape and then coloured the fish. I cut him out and adhered him and the sentiment on my background.

You'll find the fish and his mates HERE

A head swap and another experiment !

 Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create projects I made an art journal page. I had wanted to try something new (to me) on the gelli plate and I wanted to swap a head on one of Janet's little peeps, so that is what I did today.

and here's how I made this page:

I made this background on the gelli plate. I didn't take any photos because I got carried away... What I did was put the stencil on the gelli plate, then I applied watercolours. Not the really transparant proper watercolours but the ones that are made for crafters and are very opaque. I used Prima Confections I think they are called. I used light blue, and green, pink and yellow for the flowers. I put in on with a brush. I then put it aside to let it dry.
Next I took off the stencil, used a brayer to put a thin layer of white paint over the watercolours and then pulled a print. I think it looks great ! I will try this again sometime.

Next I added random stamping using the same sort of colours and grey and black.

Next I added black lines using a fine liner. This nicely frames the print.

I stamped my main images. I swapped the girl's head because I wanted her to look up to the bird.

Here they are all coloured up. Later I changed the head and tail feathers of the bird into green. I just coloured over them. I used Copic Markers this time.

Before gluing it all down I also added some splatters, black and white today. I then added the girl and the bird. I then spend ages trying to find a sentiment. In the end I settled for one of Abs' Wisecracks.

Here you see it all finished.

I used the following materials:

A5 stamping block

Stencil:
#127 - Bloomed Roses by Bipasha Bk

Stamps:
#479 - Confident by Janet Klein
#412 - Head Starts by Janet Klein
#464 - Strange birds by Janet Klein
#338 - Background Noise by Janet Klein
#489 - Wisecracks by Autour de Mwa

Happy 100th

 Hello everyone,

For the second instalment of the Country View Challenges 100th challenge I have made a simple tag.

Here's how:

I used a Tim Holtz #8 kraft tag and put these fabric self adhesive numbers from my stash on it. These numbers are from a set I bought years ago. I left them hanging over on the left and cut off the excess.

I then sprayed the tag with Distress Oxide sprays. I used Speckled Egg and Vintage Photo. I added some waterdrops too. Also in my stash I found a bottle of 'Goosebumps', it is a glue in a spray bottle to create texture. Of course it didn't spray anymore so I just flicked some drops on the tag. They stay bright and shiny. I suppose you could use Glossy Accents for the same effect.

Next I did some stamping. I used stamps that were given to me and from most I don't know the name or make. Looks great though ! :o)

I decided to use this paper doll because he fitted perfectly leaning on the bottom 0.

Lastly I added washi tape by Tim Holtz here and there, cut a party hat from an old book, added a sliver of the same page at the top right corner and stamped the sentiment on the edge of the page. I added some graphite pencil around the numbers, the sentiment strip and the boy and that was it!

We hope you will play along with us ! Before you do, please read the rules on the CVC page.

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio projects I have made a tag and an ATC.

This tag was made with a gelli print from my stash which I cut to size and then used a brayer and white paint to tone it down.  I added some stamping with Janet's stamps which she designed for AALL & Create and some washi tape by Janet too.
The adorable girl was coloured with Copic Markers, cut out and adhered to the tag. The sentiment is from the same set.
The set is called "Birds nest" and you'll find it HERE

This ATC was made with a piece of paper that had crackle paste on it. I cut it to size and then sprayed Distress Oxide sprays on it. I also added a little pigment powder to bring out the texture. I then rolled over white paint with a brayer. The bug was printed, coloured with Copics and cut out. I added him to the ATC and used a piece of AALL & Create washi tape as a sentiment.

You'll find this cute bug together with his friends HERE.

Stay playful

 Hello everyone,

It's Tuesday, so that means a new project for AALL & Create. This week I have made a mini book.

The front of the book.

Pages 1 & 2

Pages 3 & 4

Back of the book.

Here's how I made it:

I cut two pieces of paper; one was folded into an accordion and the other was just folded in half. The one in half is going to be the cover of the book. Later I will glue the accordion into the cover. You can get a similar effect book by making a Zine booklet. This is made out of one sheet of A4 paper and has a few more pages.

I used my small gelli plate to colour the cover. It fits nicely on the A5 AALL & Create stamping block. I put the yellow base on first, then rolled green paint on the plate and laid the stencil on top. After taking the excess paint of with a piece of scrap paper I took off the stencil and printed over the base colour.

The inside pages were made in the same way but with a different stencil.

Next I added leaves from this set with black ink and coloured them in with Big Brush Markers. They are permanent when dry.

Next I added stamping using Versafine Clair inks in colours similar to the backgrounds.

Next : Washi tape.. just here and there and white splatters.
I used one of Abs' new washi tapes to add a title to the front of the book.

This lady with the cake on her head gave me the idea for this book. I decided to pair both of them with sentiment from Abs' Wisecrack set.

All finished, just having to glue it all together. I did add some black lines here and there with a black pen.

The front...

Pages 1 & 2

Pages 3 & 4

The back.

I used the following materials:

A5 Stamping block

Stencils:
#63 - Woodpile by Autour de Mwa
#67 - Broken Circles by Autour de Mwa

Stamps:
#338 - Background noise by Janet Klein
#406 - Housewives by Janet Klein

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio projects I made a postcard and a birthday card.

This cute little bug was new this week. I printed, coloured and cut him out. I found this  background in my stash. It was made with a small gelliplate. I didn't add anything to it as I thought it was nice as it was. I placed the bug on top and added the sentiment that came with the set.

You'll find this but and his friends HERE

This birthday card was made with a background from my stash. I love this technique where you heat emboss the background with white powder and then dunk it into Distress Oxide inks. I used Mustard seed, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China. I added some more stamping with some AALL & Create stamps and then coloured the little boy with my Copics. I cut him out and placed him on some of Janet's washi tape. The words 'birthday boy' come with this set; I just added the words 'for the'.

You'll find this cute boy HERE

All coloured up with DOI in the same colours and shading added with pencils.
