Happy mail

Hello everyone,

and welcome to the first week of the new challenge over at Stampotique Designers' Challenge.
The theme for the coming fortnight will be 'Mail Art', which can be a postcard, an envelope, a pocket letter etc. Let your imagination run wild ! I hope you will play along; you might win a $30 voucher for the shop at the end of the month. Just make sure you read the rules on the blog before entering.

I have decorated a plain white envelope:

I started off making a mask for the address bit. I then used Distress Inks and a blending tool to colour the envelope. I also stamped with them. Twinkie and the flags were stamped with black Archival ink straight on the envelop. I the stamped Twinkie again on marker paper. I coloured him with Copic Markers and cut him out. I adhered him over top of the one I already stamped on the envelope.
I also used a bottle cap and white paint to add some rings and some stickers to spell the word 'mail'; the word happy is from a happy birthday stamp.

I have used the following stamps:

Parental Advisory.....

Hello everyone,

For today's Visible Image DT post I made a card.

I used one of my gelli printed cards for this and added some stamping to it first using different colours of Archival Ink.
I added some white doodling and then stamped the head phones, once on the panel and once on some masking paper. I masked off the bits that go over you ears. I then stamped the skull over the top so it looks as the headphones are actually sitting on the skull's head. I added a sentiment from the set that contains the headphones. I drew a line around the panel and adhered it to a white card.

I used the following stamp sets:

the life you've imagined

Hello everyone,

Made this quick card with a "mop up" background ! It is made by taking of the remnants of paint on a gelli plate when you have finished. Cool eh ?

All I did was cut it to size, stamp the man on it, heat embossed him with black powder as I didn't think he was black enough. I added some background stamping, extended the ground he is standing on with a black pen and added a sentiment and some doodling around the edge.
I then adhered the panel to a white card.
And that was it !

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

She spread her wings...

Hello everryone,

Today it is my turn to share a project for UmWow Studio. I have made a canvas and it is a little different to my usual bright colours but I really enjoy making vintage things as well...
 here it is:

This was actually a painted canvas so I started with glueing book pages on it. I then added the dots with a piece of punchinella and some model paste.
Next I painted it with a mix of turquoise and white DecoArt Media fluid acrylics.
The next layer was Antiquing Creme also by DecoArt. I used a turquoise and a brown..
You put it on, let it dry and then wipe it off again...

I got the little frame in the dollar store and I antiqued it the same way, using Titan Buff paint and the same antiquing creams.

On the little crown from the photo booth props set of chipboards I added some glue from a tape runner and then put some foil on it. It was by no means perfect but that was just the look I was going for. The bits that weren't covered by the foil I painted with gold paint. I then added 2 layers of clear embossing powder over the top.

I put a piece of Designer Paper by 7dots Studio (Destination unknown) under the little frame.
Next was the Cicada. I painted it with Titan Buff DecoArt Media Fluid acrylic paint and then added some dark turquoise on the top edges of the wings.
I then used a holographic embossing powder to get some shimmer. With a bit of metal wire and some seed beads I gave the cicada antennea, no idea if the have antennea??? lol

Underneath the frame is a rubber stamped image by VivaLasVegaStamps! It didn't stamp very well so I added some more ink with my fingers. I also added some black stripes with black fluid acrylic and an old creditcard.

Here is a close up of the shimmer...

The whole thing was put together using gel medium to glue the frame, the crown and the cicada. I also added some splatters... The last thing I did was add the sentiment which is by VivaLasVegaStamps.

I have used these chipboards:

It is an exciting day today as I am going to publish my first YouTube tutorial. It is not the first one I made; that one is going to be published on the 1st of September.
I just thought I make another one as I might forget how to do it ! Lol...

It is just a short tutorial mostly about colouring an image....

This is the postcard:

Shenanigans

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog where it is week 2 of the Polkadots challenge. I hope you will play along with us.. just make sure to read the rules over at the Stampotique Designers' blog.

I have made a postcard :

I am really enjoying using gelli prints for my backgrounds. Once made, they make a quick project.
I added the Polkadots with a stencil and then used a plastic tube and black paint to put rings around some of them. I then added a little background stamping. The girl was stamped on the card and onto white card stock. I coloured her with Copic Markers, cut her out and adhered her onto the image on the panel. I added some shading under her feet and lastly glued on the sentiment.

I used the following stamps:

A card just for fun !

Hello everyone,

I had a great day in my craft room today ! Even though it is 30 degrees outside I decided I'd rather craft than while away the time in the sun... yep, I know, weird !! lol
First I did some DT work and after I finished what I had to do I fancied a little play with my new Crazy Dog stamps. They are so adorable. I also decided to have another go with the Distresss Crayons to see if I like them any better...

I also recently bought this Doily Die by Tim Holtz and I love it.. It is nice and small and so detailed. This one was lying around on my desk. I cut it out of white paper and adhered it to a gessoed piece of card stock with Distress gel medium.
I then added the Distress Crayons, blending them with a damp finger. When it was all done I wiped over it with a baby wipe that was not too wet and created this worn look which I really like.
I still don't know how to fix these crayons but I thought I spray them with fixative which seems to have done the job.
Next I stamped the background a little (all stamps used are by Tim Holtz). I thought it would be nice to keep the dog a little lighter; I stamped him on a piece of paper from a flyer and added some shading and colour with coloured pencils. After colouring I cut him out and adhered him to the card. I added some shading under him and stamped the sentiment. I used a white pen to add some highlights to it. Lastly I drew a line around the panel and adhered the whole thing to a white card.
This was so much fun !

Thanks for stopping by today !

Treat ?

Hello everyone,

For a bit of fun I decided to play in this weeks Go Thursday Tag. The theme was book text but I had this menu which a brought back from a few days holiday and though I'd used that. Looks like this dog is just as mad about food as I am !

I gelli printed the menu than cut a tag out of it. You can still read what food they had on offer...
The dog (by Tim Holtz) was stamped separately and coloured with Copic Markers. I adhered him to the tag and added shading under him so he isn't floating.
The sentiment is from another Tim Holtz set and it says 'trick or treat'; I only used the treat bit and found a question mark in the same set on a different sentiment. I added some doodling around the sentiment and the tag and that was it...

The rest of your life..

Hello everyone,

Today for my DT post for Katzelkraft I have made a postcard.

The background was made with Brusho's. I used white embossing powder to get the big background stamp to stand out... I stamped the bird, coloured him with watercolour markers and cut him out. I adhered him on top of the clock face. The sentiment was stamped and cut into strips and also adhered to the card. I used a blue watercolour marker to add some colour here and there.
A black line around the card finished it off.

I used the following stamps:

A journey into time

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog were I have a card to share for the new Stampotique Designers' Challenge. The theme is Polkadots. Why not play along with us and win a gift certificate to the shop !!! Just make sure you read the rules on the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog. Have fun !!!

I had this background lying around for ages. It is watercolour paper which I sprayed with Lindy's Stampgang sprays. There is a little shimmer in the colour and it looks pretty. First I added the polka dots. These were made with circle dies and Ranger Foil Sheets and Adhesive sheets. So what you do is die cut the circles out of the adhesive sheets, stick these circles on the paper (taking off the backing paper on one side). Once they are in place you take off the second backing paper. You now have sticky circles on your background. Then you put the foil sheet on top, burnish and pull it off again. The foil sticks to the circles.
Next I stamped the background; some text and a doodle stamp around the dots.
I then stamped the ammonite on the card and onto a piece of pattern paper. I added some colour with Copic Markers and cut it out. I adhered it to the stamped image on the card.
Lastly I added a sentiment made with Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers and adhered the panel to a white card.

Here you can see how shiny the foil is...

I used the following stamps for this card:

Glimmer of light

Hello everyone,

For my DT post for Visible Image I have decorated one of their fabulous Monoliths. These are MDF panels that come with their own stand and are very easy to work with. Anyway, here's mine:

This is the front.

This is the back.

A detail.

another detail.

I gessoed the Monolith first and then used my gelli plate to put the paint on. It didn't work as I thought it would but I still liked the result. I did some background stamping with ink but also with white embossing powder. (Full list of stamps with links to the shop at the bottom of this post).
The skull and the skeletons were stamped on tissue paper and adhered to the monolith. One of the skeletons was flipped so they are holding hands and looking at each other. I stamped the sentiments directly onto the monolith but had to do some work on the 'glimmer of light' one as it didn't stamp very well. The lightbulb was stamped directly but also on white card; I coloured it, cut it out and adhered it over the top of the one on the monolith.
That was it, I think ! Great fun to do.

I used the following stamps & materials from Visible Image:

Display purposes only

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog where today I have a mini canvas to share which I made for VivaLasVegaStamps! I've also took lots of photos along the way and will tell you how I made this so sit down with a nice cuppa and enjoy !

I am entering this project into the 'TIMI' challenge from Craft Stamper ! Fingers crossed !

As always I'll start with the finished project :

And here's how:

I started with a 4"x4" (10 cm x 10 cm) canvas.

I took a stencil and some model paste and applied it to the canvas with a palet knife.

This is how it looked, I dried it with a heat tool.

Next I painted it with white gesso to get a base for the paint.

These are the colours I used; I also added some white.

This is the painted version.. but I thought it was a bit flat so....

I decided to use some glazing liquid and a darker turquoise to add som shadows...

I used about half paint and half glazing liquid...

I painted it over the model pasted area. What happens is that because of the glazing liquid the paint stays wet for much longer. So you put it on, leave it a little while (how long depends on the temperature, the moisture in the air etc... just try and see) and then wipe off with a baby wipe.. It sort of settles on the recesses...

It is very subtle but gives a little bit of interes. You can keep doing this until your are happy with the result...

Next I took a Pitt pen and went along the edge of the canvas. The idea is to paint the sides black but it is not easy to get a straight-ish line with a brush. So I do this with a marker...

Like this...

The rest then gets painted....

Like so...

Now for some background stamping, not to much as there is not much room... A list of all the stamps I used is at the bottom of this post...

The canvas with stamping...

No for the main image and the sentiment..

At this point I wasn't sure about which sentiment to use... So I stamped both..

This is how she looks coloured...

I still thought the canvas was lacking something so I added white splatters. I just shake this paint pen at it and drops fly out... Be careful as they tend to go everywhere...

This looked better...

I chose this sentiment which is part of a sentiment really...

After adhering everything with gel medium and adding some shading around her I declared it finished.

I used the following stamps:
