Use your wings

and welcome to my blogpost for Roc Nicholas. She designs fabulous stamps for Stampotique Originals. This is one of my favourites and I used her on a mini Art Journal page.

This background was in my stash for ages and I loved it so much I didn't want to use it. Does that happen to you ? It is a mop up page I made after a gelli printing session. Sometimes they come out nicer then the actual print. 

I decided to use "Daisy Head" because she is one of my favourites. I lengthened her body slightly to accommodate the wings. These come from a pack of ephemera by Tim Holtz called Botanical Layers.  It was actually a butterfly that I just the wings off. 

Daisy was coloured with Copic Markers and cut out. The whole thing was finished with some Tim Holtz Small Talk stickers and a piece of dictionary paper.

Fragile ocean

and welcome to another Challenge at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog. This time it is all about text backgrounds. We hope you'll have a go as we'll and play along.

Here's my postcard :

This is a gelli print which was done on a menu of a restaurant. 

I stamped the fish on the card directly and also on a piece of blank book paper. I then cut out some bits and adhered them to the one on the card.  I then made the sentiment from two different sentiment stamps and adhered them also. The barcode stamp finished it off.

Comfortzone

Hello everyone,

It is 'WordUp Weekend' at Stampotique. This is an event where we share some of the best quote and word stamps. I chose one by France Papillon this week.
As a main image I chose the flamingo by Jo Capper-Sandon; I seem a little obsessed with this stamp at the moment....

For the background I used Lindy's Stampgang Sprays and then stencilled the letter over the top with similar colours Art Anthology Sorbet paints. They are a little thicker and have a little sparkle in them. Very pretty.. Next I used an old creditcard and white paint to add some lines. 

I also used some white embossing powder to create the circles. 

Flamingo was stamped on watercolour paper and on the page. I coloured him with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and a water brush, cut him out and adhered him to the one on the page. 

The text I chose is by France Papillon, I stamped it, cut it out, coloured the edges and adhered them to the page.

La dolce vita

Hello everyone, 

Over at Stampotique we recently started promoting word stamps/quote stamps and although I don't own very many, I have a few and the one I used here is one of them. 

The background of this journal page is a mop up gelli print. I added some white embossed stamping to lighten it up a little. The Flamingo is one of my more recently acquired stamps and I had to used it! The funny thing is that it is quite an old stamp and I never liked it until I saw it used. 

Anyway, I coloured the bird with watercolours and cut it out. As I thought it didn't stand out enough on this darkish background, I die cut a circle from pattern paper and went around the edges with a light blue marker. I adhered it behind the flamingo. I used the back side of the same paper to stamp the sentiment on; that way it is the same colour. I also went around the words with the same blue marker.  I then thought it needed something else so I stamped the crown and coloured it with Copic Markers, cut it out and adhered it on the head of the bird. 

 A black line around the page finished it off.

Welcome to the second week of the 'Halloween' (#259) challenge at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog. We hope you will play along with us; just read the rules first please. You'll find them on the SDC blog.

I have made a postcard for this week:

I started off with a gelli print. I made a few especially for Halloween and this one I particularly liked. I know it is not very Halloween in colour but I tried to make up for the lack of spookyness with my main character. His name is Friend and I stamped him on marker paper and on the card. I did this because you can't cut out all the little sticky bits on the side. When you glue the one on the markerpaper over the top, even though you have cut off all the little bits, it will look perfect. 

After colouring Friend I stamped the web on the card and heat embossed it with silver powder. I stamped the spider over the top. I also stamped him on markerpaper and coloured him. I cut him out, cutting off his legs and adhering the body to the spider in the web. Next I stamped the sentiment and added some random stamping in two corners, top left and bottom right. 

Lastly I went around the card with a black Archival Inkpad.

Stampotique Designers' Challenge #258 - your favourite quote - week 2

and welcome to my blog where today I have made an art journal with my favourite quote of all times. It is a quote by Winnie the Pooh and I love it...

I hope you will play along with us this week. I am sure you have a favourite quote too. You could win a $30 gift certificate to the online store.. Just make sure you read the new rules HERE.

Here goes:

I started off with a gelli print and addd some stamping. For the text I used black Archival Ink and for the circles I used VersaMark with white embossing powder by WOW. Next I stamped the hearts on some book paper, cut them out and coloured in the small hearts. I then stamped Daisy Head, coloured her with my Copic Markers, cut her out and adhered her to the page. I then arranged the hearts around her. The quote was typed on my old typewriter; I used the edge of the same book paper to get the same colour paper. It then was adhered to the left side of the page. I added some coloured pencil at the bottom and right side of the text strips. Lastly I doodled around the page with a white gel pen. 

That was it...

Stampotique Challenge #258 - favourite quote

and welcome to the first week of a new Challenge. It is all about your favourite quote the next two weeks. I've chosen one of my favourites to go on my tag but there are many more that I really like..
There is lots of inspiration on the Designers' Challenge Blog and you can also find the rules for taking part there.

So here is mine:

This tag was cut out of white card stock. I started with stamping the girl with Memento Ink and then coloured her with Copic Markers. Next I gessoed carefully around her and when that had dried I used Distress Crayons (and no, I am still not keen on them) and a baby wipe to colour the background. 

Next I dipped a stamp in water, stamped it on the tag and then mopped up the water. It leaves a bleached imperfect impression of the stamp: perfect ! 

I also added some script and white paint splatters. 

The quote was typed on my typewriter, cut into strips and glued onto the tag. 

That was it !

and welcome to week 2 of the 'put a bug on it' challenge over at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog. For this week I have made a quick postcard.

I've only used two stamps for this. 

It is a gelli printed piece of paper on which I stamped the flower twice with versa mark ink and heat embossed both images with fine white WOW embossing powder. 

The hearts on the card were made with home made 'tools' ie. foam stickers on a piece of card board that I use as stamps on the gelli plate after applying the paint and before printing. 

I found the definition of the word bug in the dictionary and cut it out. I glued it on the bottom of the card so the caterpillar could sit on it. He was stamped on white paper and coloured with Copic Markers. The sentiment was done on my old typewriter. A few white paint splatters finished it off.

Itsy bitsy spider

and happy Wednesday ! Today, a new challenge starts over at the Stampotique Designers's challenge blog. It's #257 and the theme is 'Put a bug on it'. We would love it if you played along with us but before you do make sure to read the rules on the SDC blog.
Here's my mini art journal.

For these pages I used a  6 x 6 gelli plate to print both sides. I started with the orange base and then overprinted the left with pink and the right with blue. I added some texture to the plate before printing. 

Next I used some background stamps, some with Archival ink in the same sort of colours. I also stamped with Versamark and then heat embossed with WOW fine white embossing powder. 

The sentiment was stamped straight on the page with alphabet stamps and doodled around with a white paint pen. I used the same paint pen to add some splattering. 

Spider girl was stamped on the page and on white cardstock. I coloured her, cut her out and then restamped her a third time on post it paper. I stuck the post it paper on some polka dotted pattern paper and cut out the dress which I then adhered on top of the coloured girl; I did add some shading to her little dress. The whole thing was then glued on top of the stamped image on the page. 

A line around the pages finished it off.

Postcard giveaway ! Yay !

Donald has a new puppy and he is mega-excited about it ! 

This postcard was made with half a gelli print. I added some background stamping, some with Archival Ink and with VersaMark and white embossing powder. 

Donald was stamped on white card stock and coloured with Copic Markers as was the little dog. I then did some surgery on Donald so the dog could sit on his legs as is he was holding the pup.

I added some shading under them and lastly added the sentiment.

and welcome to my September post for Roc's DT team..

I have made a postcard which I shall also be using for the current postcard swap on Roc's FB page HERE.

The theme for the swap is black and white and one other colour. So I chose different shades of orange for my card. I got my gelli plate out and made this background with 3 shades of orange. Next I stamped the sentiment straight onto the card and coloured the letters. I also went around them with a white pen. The dog and the border on the left were stamped on book pages and I added a little shading with orange and black coloured pencils. Lastly I drew a border around the card and added some white splatters.

Happy mail

and welcome to the first week of the new challenge over at Stampotique Designers' Challenge.
The theme for the coming fortnight will be 'Mail Art', which can be a postcard, an envelope, a pocket letter etc. Let your imagination run wild ! I hope you will play along; you might win a $30 voucher for the shop at the end of the month. Just make sure you read the rules on the blog before entering.

I have decorated a plain white envelope:

I started off making a mask for the address bit. I then used Distress Inks and a blending tool to colour the envelope. I also stamped with them. Twinkie and the flags were stamped with black Archival ink straight on the envelop. I the stamped Twinkie again on marker paper. I coloured him with Copic Markers and cut him out. I adhered him over top of the one I already stamped on the envelope. 

I also used a bottle cap and white paint to add some rings and some stickers to spell the word 'mail'; the word happy is from a happy birthday stamp.

I have made a postcard :

I am really enjoying using gelli prints for my backgrounds. Once made, they make a quick project. 

I added the Polkadots with a stencil and then used a plastic tube and black paint to put rings around some of them. I then added a little background stamping. The girl was stamped on the card and onto white card stock. I coloured her with Copic Markers, cut her out and adhered her onto the image on the panel. I added some shading under her feet and lastly glued on the sentiment.

A journey into time

I had this background lying around for ages. It is watercolour paper which I sprayed with Lindy's Stampgang sprays. There is a little shimmer in the colour and it looks pretty. First I added the polka dots. These were made with circle dies and Ranger Foil Sheets and Adhesive sheets. So what you do is die cut the circles out of the adhesive sheets, stick these circles on the paper (taking off the backing paper on one side). Once they are in place you take off the second backing paper. You now have sticky circles on your background. Then you put the foil sheet on top, burnish and pull it off again. The foil sticks to the circles. 

Next I stamped the background; some text and a doodle stamp around the dots. 

I then stamped the ammonite on the card and onto a piece of pattern paper. I added some colour with Copic Markers and cut it out. I adhered it to the stamped image on the card. 

Lastly I added a sentiment made with Tim Holtz Chit Chat stickers and adhered the panel to a white card. 

Here you can see how shiny the foil is...

and welcome to my blog where I have an inspiration piece for week 2 of the Stampotique Designers' Challenge to share. The theme is text background, any text, like books, stamps, newspaper etc. I have used stamps this time..

I made a gelliprint for this in my favourite colours of this week !!! lol. Might be totally different next week or even tomorrow ! 

I stamped some text on it with paints; it is very subtle and also with black ink. I added some background stamping and splattering too. 

The boys were stamped on the page and onto white card stock, coloured with Copic markers, cut our and adhered. I typed the sentiment on my old typewriter and glued it on. Lastly I added some shading underneath the boys and under the sentiment strips.

De Craftorij Zomer Challenge - CZC2016 day 56 - 61

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog where today I'll share the last 6 cards from the CZC2016; I can't believe it is over already !!! I have so enjoyed it !

Day 56 - Watercolours

Stamped this lovely lady on some Bristol Card Stock, cut slightly smaller that the cards I am using, and coloured her with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I stamped 'Whatever' next to her and added some washi tape on one of the blank cards. I then glued the panel over the top.

Day 57 - hand(s)

I used one of my gelli printed backgrounds for this. The hand is a stamp and I stamped it with VersaFine Ink and then clear embossed it. It makes it just that little bit blacker... I added some words from the same stamp set and drew some lines around the edges. 

Day 58 - Mirror image

I stamped the bird once as it is and once on a piece of acetate. I then stamped the acetate on paper and hey presto a mirror image. I coloured them both and adhered them to a gelli printed card. I added a Tim Holtz Chit Chat sticker. 

Day 59 - Image transfer

I printed this image of Johnny Depp (swoon, swoon) on a laserprinter and then cut it out. I added gel medium to the image and to a pre painted card. I stuck the image on face down and used an old credit card to scrape over the top. This way you burnish the image and squeeze out all the gel medium that is too much. I then dried it with a heat tool and when dry I wetted it it with water and rubbed off the paper. All that is left is the black ink. I added a sentiment, which is a quote from the film 'the Shining', just for fun! 

Day 60 - Purple 

Another gelli print, yes I know, boring.... I have loved using all these gelli prints, which make for quick projects. I stamped over the top a little, added some white drops of paint and then added a Design paper circle to put my doggie on. He is part of the new stamp set by Tim Holtz, crazy dogs. I coloured him with Copic Markers and glued him on the circle. Lastly I added a sentiment by VivaLasVegaStamps!

Day 61 - Anything goes, 15 minutes

This one was made from bits lying on my desk. A gelli print, an already stamped and coloured image and a few bits of washitape. All I did was stamped the background, added the image and a sentiment and drew a line around the card. 

And here they all are.... 61 cards ! 

I now have to turn them into two books... I'll be back !!!
