Thoughts and theories - a decorated notebook

Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create GDT post I have decorated a notebook.

and here's how:

I use lined notebooks to write my processes for crafting down so I can remember what I did. lol
For this decorated notebook I cut two pieces of mixed media paper to size to go on the front and the back of my notebook. I chose to add a layer of paper to the cover of the notebook so it would get a little sturdier. You could also just use gesso on the cover and decorate directly.
Anyway, I added texture paste through this stencil over the middle of the two pieces of paper.

Next I used acrylic paint which I diluted with water to add colour. First yellow, which I made run through the 'valleys' of the texture paste by spraying it with water. I dried that then added the blue in the same way, dried again and finally adding the orange in the same way.
After everything was dry I used a brayer with white paint and rolled over the texture paste and also one the bottom and the tops to get some variation in the colour.

Next I added stamping, using similar colours ink and also grey and black, when this was dry I brayered over some more white paint to tone it down slightly.

Next I stamped the leaves from this stamp set. I stamped 6 but only used four in the end. I stamped on book paper because I planned to use a piece of this to cover the spine of the book.

Here are the finished covers. I added a word chip from Tim Holtz, again I pulled it apart because I think they are too thick. Luckily it is no problem to pull off some of the layers. I also added some black lines along the edges.

This is it finished. I like how it turned out and I shall enjoy using this for my notes.

The back is just as pretty too !

I have used the following materials:

Stencil:
#93 - Enchanted Garden by Olga Heldwein

Stamps:
#350 - Splattered Numbers by Tracy Evans
#349 - Bold Alpha Mini by Bipasha Bk
#338 - Background Noise by Janet Klein
#368 - Seeds Of Hope by Tracy Evans

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio post I have made a postcard and a mini journal page.

This set was released this week and is called "dog mom". So cute isn't she? I coloured the postcard with pigmentpowders and added texture paste through a stencil. I added stamping and washi tape and put mom and dog over the top. A Tim Holtz small talk sticker and some doodling finished it off.
You'll find her HERE.

I had another rat printed out so decided to use her today. I created a simple background for her with washi tape, a little paint and some stamping. She was coloured with Copics, cut out and adhered to the page. I added some Tim Holtz Clippings as a sentiment.

You'll find her and her friends HERE

Wicked

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog where today I am sharing an art journal spread that I made for VivaLasVegaStamps!  I was a relatively simple one too but I enjoyed making it.

Here's how I made it:

First I painted the pages with shades of blue and purple. I mixed in white paint to get some different hues.

Next I stamped this doily (a full list of the stamps I used is at the bottom of my post) and heat embossed it with white powder. So pretty !

I then added some stamping on the background.

Next I stamped, coloured and cut out this lady.

Here she is all finished on the page. I added some washi tape here and there, some doodles and a word that I cut out of a sentiment.

I have used the following stamps:

Other materials :

Acrylic paints: PaperArtsy
Ice Blue, Summer Sky, Snowflake and Forget me Not.
WOW embossing powder in white
Archival inks in Jet Black and Deep Purple
Versafine ink - Morning mist
Copic markers

A card with a chuckle..

Hello everyone,

welcome to my blog where today I am sharing a card I made for AALL & Create. There is a process video too if you would like to see how I made it.

This was great fun to make and I had a little giggle about the sentiment which I typed on my old typewriter.

Here are some step-by-step photos; or you can click HERE to see the video or go via de link below, just click the words YouTube at the bottom:

I started off with stamping the hat, masking it and then stamping the pig over the top. This way they become one image. Of course you could just as easy stamp them separately and glue them over the top of each other.

I coloured her/him with Copic Markers.

The background was made with acrylic paints and this stencil.

I added some heat embossing over the top of the paint. I used WOW embossing powder, regular white.

Some stamping was next. After stamping I inked up the edges of the card.

And here it is all put together.

I have used the following stamps and stencils:

Stencils:
#113 - Lotza Squares by Autour de Mwa
#97 - Starry Night by Janet Klein
Stamps:
#338 - Background Noise by Janet Klein
#284 - Hat Drama by Janet Klein
#345 - Bacon by Janet Klein

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio projects I have made two postcards.

This background was made with texture paste and lots of inks and white paint. It has lots of layers but I like how it came out.
I printed the 'Spooky cupcakes' and coloured them with Copic Markers and cute them out. I made a base for them to sit on with washi tape and a word chip from Tim Holtz. I also added a tiny amount of stamping with Janet's 'Background Noise' stamp set by AALL & Create. I then added the cupcakes; popping up the middle one on foam squares.

You'll find these cupcakes HERE.

This postcard was made with a mop up page from the gelli plate. I added stamping, and some doodling and washi tape. I printed the image, coloured it with my Copics and cut it out. I then adhered it, together with the sentiment on my card.
This cool image is called 'Shutterbug' and you'll find it HERE

It's the little things.. a mixed media project

Hello everyone,

and welcome to another project for AALL & Create. Today I have used lollypop sticks to make a little wall decoration. I have used 10 sticks; 8 laid out together and two glued at the back across to keep them together.

And here is how:

After I glued the two sticks on the back of the front eight, I added texture paste with this stencil. I then added a layer of white gesso and after that dried I played with Infusions, Nuvo sparkling powders and some of the Cosmic Shimmer powders.

After all that dried I added some stamping. I also added staples in every stick because of all the water I used and then heating with the heating tool the glue came undone.

of course I had to tone it down with white paint and a brayer...

Next I cut this out and added green Versafine Clair ink..

I added clear and green embossing powder in separate layers. I like the result.

I added more stamping and also white splatters with a paint pen. I also put some green ink over the white paint, not sure if I like it.

Here I have added the die cut pieces.

I decided to use one of these little girls as a focal point so I stamped her and coloured her with my Copic Markers. I also stamped the sentiment from the Puppy Toys set.

And here is it all put together. I added more white paint with a dry brush method behind her to make her stand out more. You can still see all the texture and some of the colour.

I hope you enjoyed my process. I have used the following AALL & Create products:

Stencil:
#113 - Lotza Squares

Stamps:
#372 - Textured elements by Olga Heldwein
#338 - Background Noise - Janet Klein
#375 - Reverse Squares - Autour de Mwa
#344 - Puppy Toys - (Sentiment only) by Janet Klein
#356 - Flower Market by Janet Klein

Die:
#21 - Number crunching by Bipasha BK

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday and welcome to my blog where today I am sharing a postcard and a journal spread I made for Vera Lane Studio.

I have made this postcard with the newly released 'Caffeina'. I put her on a background that I made with Janet's Sunrise stencil by AALL & Create. I added washi tape and some doodling.
You will find 'Caffeina' HERE.

For this project I played with ink sprays and while I am typing this I am looking at my yellow and orange fingers !! :o)
I added stamping with Janet's Background Noise stamp set by AALL & Create and some washi tape here and there. I glued her onto the lighter circle (which I made with a stencil and gesso) and added the sentiment.

You will find 'Piccolo Angelo' HERE

Sweetie

Hello everyone,

For today's project I have made a mini journal page. These are really just postcard sized pieces of paper that I stick in my journal. I really like how this one came out.

It was made with a piece of watercolour paper. I recently bought some Infusions powders and I had a play with them to create this background. I also used some white gesso to tone it down here and there. Next I added some modelling paste; this is a graphite one and it has little sparkles in it.
I added a tiny bit of stamping and some black paint around the edges. I stamped the girl and the sentiment, matted them both on black card stock and adhered them to my panel after putting down some washi tape.

I have used the following stamps:
