This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! I hope you all had a nice Christmas and are looking forward to New Years Eve. We always have tons of fireworks going off at midnight but not today as they have been prohibited because of Covid. There are always lots of accidents and they simply don't want these people turning up at the hospitals. Oh well, let's just hope that 2021 is going to be more like our old lives..

Anyway, I have two little project for today,  a journal spread and a postcard.

This journal spread was really simple to make. I used Janet's Tre Fiori stencil to print the background with Distress Oxide inks. I used Antique Linen and Faded Jeans. Once this was dry I added some washout tape here and there and some doodling. Lastly I added the girl and the sentiment which is a clippings sticker by Tim Holtz.
The girls if from the set 'Journal Faces' and you'll find them HERE.

This postcard was super easy to. I used Janet's 'Saturday Morning' stencil with Distress Ink in the colour Pumice Stone and applied it with a blending brush. I added a strip of design paper at the bottom and placed the dog on it. I added a Clippings sticker as a sentiment. (This one is from the Halloween edition).
The dog is from the set "Curly Girl' and is still available on request.

Thank you for stopping by today !

anyway, I started with making print with this stencil. this is not the one I used in my project but I forgot to take pics... lol

I coloured the flowers separately and cut them out.

I coloured the leaves with watercolour markers directly on the card and added the coloured flowers after I cut them out.

The sentiment...

The finished article...

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio projects I have made a journal page and a tag.

Every now and then I have to use Miss Dee again. So today was the day, and she is in full Christmas mood! (A bit like me...lol).
I decorated the page with blue stars from a home made stencil and then printed, coloured and cut out Miss Dee. I decided to give her a festive hat; this one, together with the sentiment is from the set 'Treena"

Both of these sets are still available on request.

This tag was made with a piece of watercolored paper from my stash. I printed, coloured and cut out this cute little girl and placed her on the tag. There is a piece of thin paper from a paper bag underneath her to make her stand out more. I added some doodling and the sentiment and that finished the tag.
She is from the set "Carolers", and you'll find then HERE.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Tis the season

  Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog where today I am sharing a Christmas card that I made for VivaLasVegaStamps! This is my last post for VivaLasVegaStamps! as I have decided to step down from the team. I have been on it for the last 5 1/2 years and enjoyed it very much but there comes a time...

Anyway, here is my card:

and here is how

I used some old not very sticky washi tape to create a stripe pattern on my card.

I painted roughly between the lines of washi tape to get a not perfect effect.

This is how it looked after drying.

Next I stamped the elf and the sentiment on the card and on a piece of paper. I wanted to colour him with my Copic Markers. I stamped the head and hat again in red because I wanted his hat to be white and red stripes.

After everything was coloured.

The completed card. I added some Liquid Pearls over the berries of the holly but because I didn't have red I used a white one and dabbed a tiny amount of red paint over the top. The leaves were coloured straight on the card. I also lengthened the strings with a black pen and added some shading around the box so it isn't floating.

I only used two stamps for this card:

Other materials:

Acrylic paint, washi tape, Copic Markers, Coloured Pencils, Archival ink, Memento ink.

the Queen

 Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog where today I am sharing a journal page which I made for AALL & Create.

How cute is she??

Here's how I made it:

I started off making a gelli print. I brayered yellow and lime acrylic paints on my plate and took a print, I then added two shades of turquoise and put this stencil on. With a piece of scrappaper I took off some of the paint. I then removed the stencil and printed over my yellow and lime print.

Next, again with the brayer I rolled some white paint around the edges to tone it all down a little and almost give a cloud like finish. I also added white splatters.

I used this stamp and white embossing powder to get some more interest.

With grey and black ink I added some more stamping. I used Versafine Clair, of course it won't dry very easy on painted backgrounds so I heatembossed the stamping with clear embossing powder.

I added some washi tape...

Next I stamped this little girl in her bikini, so cute ! I did think to do something with her though; first I thought of a woolly hat but then I saw the crown, so that was that.

And here she is in full glory ! I added some cross stitching with thin metal wire after poking holes with a needle. I added some shading under her feet and some clippings stickers, first on her crown and then on the page. It's a bit of fun but sometimes the choosing of the sentiments etc. takes me almost as long as making the whole page.

I have used the following AALL & Create materials:

Stencil #116 - Tre Fiori by Janet Klein
Washi tape: #2 - Inspire by Autour de Mwa
Stamps:
#399 - Framework Elements by Tracy Evans
#398 - Celestial Navigation by Olga Heldwein
#284 - Hat Drama by Janet Klein
#423 - Seaside by Janet Klein

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's project I have made 3 ATC's :

This one was made with 'Bit'; I added some stencilling (Stencil #96 - Dandilion Field by AALL & Create) on a piece of green card and embossed it with glittery holographic powder. Difficult to see in the picture. I added some stamping (Stamp #338 Background Noise by AALL & Create). I added a few pieces of washi tape and a clippings sticker before gluing her on top. You'll find Bit HERE

These were made with 2 pieces of MM paper on which I printed stencil #118 'Saturday Morning' by AALL & Create. I used Distress Oxide inks for this. I added some washi tape and then places two of the girls from the Off Vera Lane Collage sheet on them. I stamped some of the same paper with a text stamp from set #338 Background Noise by AALL & Create and then stamped the crowns on top. These are from Janet's stamp set #412 Head Starts by AALL & Create.
You'll find this cool collage sheet HERE

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Daylight dreams - an accordion book

 Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create project I have made an accordion book. I have seen Tracy and Abs make them and thought I would have a go. That was all I knew, I hadn't thought about what stamps etc I was going to use. So I just sat down and grabbed one thing at the time out of my AALL & Create stash and just started. It turned out very colourful !

This is the inside.

The front..

.. and the back.

Here's how:

I started by diecutting this to add to my book.

I cut it in half and adhered one half to each of the covers for my book. I will get back to these later. First I decided to work on the book instead.

I cut a piece of paper and folded it in 3 and added a single piece at the right to make it 4 rectangles. I attached the last piece with a piece of washi tape.
I used this stencil and Distress Oxide inks to print on the paper. I used Salty Ocean, Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin and Picked Raspberry.

Next I used this stamp set and the same Distress Oxide inks to add some more interest. I saw Abs doing this and thought I'd give it a go. Looks pretty !

Of course it needs black stamping too. I used parts of this fab stamp by Tracy.

Next I added pieces of washi tape along some of the edges. Later I also added some black acrylic paint, mainly to the areas with the black stamping.

Next I grabbed this stamp set (love the lotus flowers) and stamped some flowers and cut them out. I am going to collage these onto my book.

Here you can see the black paint and the flowers I adhered.

Next the focal image; this crab. I coloured him and cut him out. I did the same with the sentiment, again staying in the same-ish colours.

Isn't he fabulous ! I coloured him with watercolour markers.

Here you see the inside of the finished booklet.

I used blues, yellows and greens for the crab.

Next were the covers:

I decided to used acrylic paints on the covers, mainly because I adhered the die-cuts with gel medium and inks don't really take to that. I did used the same sort of colours. Next I used my brayer and white paint to get the texture to stand out more and to tone the colours down slightly.

Next I used the same stencil again with white paint and a blending tool.

Stamping with the same stamp sets I used for the books and the same inks too. But because I was stamping on paint I clear embossed the stamping; it won't dry if you don't, or very, very, very slowly.
I used some washi tape, again the same as on the inside and added black paint.

Also here, I used some of the same lotus flowers. This is the book from the back with the covers glued on.
You can just see the washi tape I used to put the pages together.

The inside (front) of the book.
