This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday! For today's Vera Lane Studio Post I have made 2 mini journal pages.

The background for this first one was made with a brayer and acrylic paint. I then stencilled and starmped over the top. I resized, printed and coloured the images and cut them out. I arranged them on the page after putting down some washi tape.
I have used the newly released 'Suns' set and the older 'Zebra and Wildebeest' sets.

This background was a gelli print but not a very nice one. So I stencilled the bubbles over it and rolled over the brayer with the leftover white paint. I added some stamping and then printed this mermaid from the "Mini Mermaid" collage set and adhered her. An old sticker saying Salty Kisses and some doodle lines finished it off.
You'll find the Mermaids HERE

Art journal page for AALL & Create

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog where today I have an art journal page to share. I made this with the new AALL & Create stamps. I love them all.

And here is how I made this:

First I brayered acrylic paint on my Mixed Media paper. I used Dina Wakley's Acrylic paints in Lemon, Cheddar, Tangerine and Fuchsia. I added quite some layers. I then brayered white over the top and added the stencilling again with white paint and a blending tool.

I then added some stamping using Distress Oxide inks (Carved Pumpkin & Seedless Preserves) and Versafine Clair (Nocturne).

Next I stamped the hare on my page, on book paper and added some of the script around him to my background. I then cut everything out and adhered it to my page.

A fairly simple page but I like it.

I have used the following AALL & Create products:
Stamps:
#350 - Splattered Numbers by Tracy Evans
#369 - Hare by Tracy Evans

Stencil:
#90 - Elegance by Olga Heldwein

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday !
For today's Vera Lane Studio post I have made a postcard and a small journal spread.

This card was made with this weeks 'Bow Bees' release. Isn't she cute! I made a background for her with Distress Oxide sprays. I used a brown and a blue. I added some stamping with Janet's 'Background Noise' stamp set by AALL & Create and I put some white paint on the spot where I wanted her to make her stand out more.  I resized and printed the bee and coloured her, cut her out and adhered her onto the card. Lastly I added some doodles and the sentiment from the same set.

You'll find these cute bees HERE

For this journal I added pink Distress Oxide ink to two pages in this journal. I did add gesso before. Next I put a stencil on the pages that I sprayed with water. I added some stamping with Janet's 'Background Noise' stamp set and some washi tape.
Next I printed the zebra from the 'Zebra and Wildebeest' set with the bird on his back and coloured the image, cut it out and adhered it to the page. Lastly I added some doodling and the sentiment which is from the same set.

You'll find this adorable Zebra HERE

Where is my mind

Hello everyone,

welcome to the VLVS! blog where today I am sharing a mini art journal page.

And here is how I made it:

I added paint to my page with a brayer and then stencilled over the top with the same colours on opposite sides.

Next I stamped the background randomly. You will find a list of stamps I used at the bottom of this post.

I coloured the images that were going to be the focal points with my Copic Markers and cut them out.

So, I then put it together by adding black paint along the edges and also some pieces of washi tape. I used a white paint pen to add splatters, I adhered the two ladies the way I wanted them and then added the sentiment that was stamped directly onto the page. Lastly I added some shading under the lady with the magazine and glued the page into my journal.

I have used the following stamps:

Other materials:
Dina Wakley Acrylic paints, Lime and Turquoise
White paint pen for splatters
Memento ink - Tuxedo Black
Copic Markers
Versafine Clair - Morning Mist, Nocturne, Warm Breeze and Verdant
Distress Oxide ink in Picked Raspberry
Washi tape

Create happy memories

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well.
For today's AALL & Create project I have made a little tag album. I used just inks, stamps and stencils. Oh, and a tiny bit of white paint for the inside of the album.

And here is how I made it:

First I took a piece of Mixed media paper from one of my A4 pads. I didn't measure it because I didn't think that was important. I folded the paper up about a third, again I didn't measure it. This flap is to become pockets for tags.
To decorate my album I used two stencils and three colours of Distress Oxide Inks (Broken China, Mustard Seed and Picked Raspberry). I used the stencils to print. This is a very effective but easy technique where you rub the ink pad over the stencil and spritz with water, you then put the inked side onto the paper and blot with kitchen paper.

After it was all dry I added some stamping. I didn't realise that the bottom right 4 would be upside down as soon as I folded the flap up. Oh well... lol

This is the inside of the album and I added some more ink this time by putting the ink on my craft sheet, spritzing with water and dunking the paper in it. I repeated this until I was happy, drying the layers in between. I then added a bit of stencilling with white paint. I only decorated the top because the bottom will fold up over.

I then used the same colours of ink to dye a piece of ribbon.
Next I folded the 'pocket strip' up and folded the whole thing into four the other way. You can see my upside down 4 here. I then took it to my sewing machine and stitched over the fold lines to create pockets. I stitched the ribbons inside of the pockets left and right.
That was my album done !

This is how it looks on the outside folded out. I did add some doodling as well.
Now to work on the tags that will go inside the pockets.

I decided to used the same stencil and the same colours of ink. I mixed the blue with the yellow for the second tag to get a greenish colour. I used the same technique by rubbing the ink pad over the stencil, spritzing with water and printing.

When dry I stamped the background and did some doodling along the edges.

Next, I stamped the focal images for the tags and coloured them with Copic Markers:

SO cute !

The finished tags.

Here is what the book looks like closed (front).

and the back..

The inside with the tags in the pockets..

The girls peeking out..

I have used the following stamps and stencils:

#350 - Splattered numbers - Tracy Evans

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday !
For today's Vera Lane Studio post I have made 2 postcards. Postcards are great ! Small area so not too intimidating. Here they are :

The first one is made with the new collage sheet called "Mermaid Collage". I made a background for her with Distress Oxide Inks in similar colours to her. I put the ink on my craft sheet and dunked the paper in it, drying after each 'dunking'. I then stamped the background a little with Janet's "Colour Theory" set and added the little mermaid, a postage stamp and a sentiment sticker.

You'll find her and her sisters HERE

This one was made with a mop up page to which I added some stencilling with Janet's stencil 'Sunrise' and white paint. I also added some white splatters. I printed the girl and the chair, putting them together on the computer first and coloured her and cut her out. I actually used three sets for this card: 'Fragile' (the girl), '50s Chair from 'Mid Century Modern'  and 'Strong woman' for the sentiment.

Iris

Hello everyone,

For today's GDT post for AALL & Create I have made a card. It is a very easy and simple card but sometimes it is nice to not have to use everything and the kitchen sink!

here's how I made it:

I used Distress Oxide Inks in Fossilized Amber and Speckled Egg to make the background. I smooshed the ink on my craft sheet and dunked the card into it, drying after every dunk. Do this as many times as you like. Next I stamped the background with the same inks and 2 stamps from this set.

More background stamping this time with grey and black Versafine inks and 2 of the stamps of this set.

I then stamped the flower on the card and on a piece of scrap that was yellow. I did add some more colour to it with markers.

Here is what it looked like after colouring the flower, cutting it out and adhering it over the top. I added some green to the stem and leaves with a Big Brush Marker.

the last things I did were adding some doodle lines along some of the sides and I stamped the little label, inked it with Speckled Egg and stapled it to the side. I also added some white splatters.

I have used the following stamps:

#339 - Colour Theory by Janet Klein
#333 - Iris by Tracy Evans

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

and Happy Thursday ! For today's post I have made a mini journal and a post card. Actually the mini journal could also be a postcard because it is about the same size. Sometimes I just think it is easier to glue them into my journal because I get so many cards !

This is Diego (Rivera). He was the husband of Frida Kahlo and a painter too. I resized him, printed and coloured him, then cut him out. I added some stencilling and stamping to the background and placed him and the sentiment.

The Diego Set is HERE in the shop.

This postcard was made with one of the 'Oh rats' set. I still really like them. I resized him and coloured him, cut him out and placed him on my prepared background.
This was a piece of card with pink paint on it. I added stamping and stencilling and a piece of washi tape for him to stand on. The sentiment is a snarky sentiment.

You'll find the rats HERE

God save the vandals

Hello everyone,

For today's VivaLasVegaStamps! post I have made a tag.

I started off by cutting a tag from Mixed Media Paper. I then smooshed Distress Oxide Inks (Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade) on my craft mat, spritzed with water and dunked the tag into it repeatedly, drying in between, until I was happy.
Next I stamped the background using the same inks and a black Versafine Clair. I then used a brayer and white paint to tone it down again and after drying added the modelling paste through a stencil.
I stamped the focal image on the tag and on book paper, cut her out of the book paper and adhered her over herself :o) . The sentiment and some doodling finished it off.

I used the following stamps:

Other Materials:
Mixed Media Paper
Distress Oxide ink : Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick
Versafine Clair - Nocturne
an AALL & Create stencil
Modeling paste
Black pen
Book pages
