This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to a new and happier, better year than this one! I have made a happy New Year card this time:

I printed the images and then coloured it with Copics, cut it out together with the bottle which is from the same set. I couldn't find a happy new year sentiment so I cut the words I needed out of a book.
The background was made with Distress Oxide ink. I dunked the card into the ink and dried in between colours. I then added some stamping with a set designed by Janet for AALL & Create.
I glued the party goer and the sentiment on the card and found it needed something else. So I went around the words with a black pen and added some black acrylic paint around the edges of the card.

You'll find this "Gatsby" chap HERE

Thank you for stopping by and HAPPY NEW YEAR !

My monkeys fly

 Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas full of crafty gifts and yummy food.

For today's AALL & Create post, the last of this year, I have made a postcard.

Here's how:

First I stamped the monkey.

then I coloured him with Copic Markers.

The background was made on the gelli plate with this stencil. I used blue, turquoise and purple paints. Of course I am going to tone it down with my white paint and a brayer.

On the toned down background I added some random stamping and also some heat embossing. These sets are amongst my favourites.

Next I put a piece of washi tape on white card stock so the background would shine through. I also cut it smaller. I wanted to put my (Tim Holtz) sentiment sticker on it.

Here it is finished. I had some pieces of this left over so I decided to turn them into flags (bunting).

And because the flags were an afterthought the middle strip is actually a little too high to please the eye. But I couldn't rip it off because it would have destroyed the background. I still like how it came out though.

I have used the following materials for this card:

Stencil:
#113 - Lotza Squares by Autour de Mwa

Washi tape:
#17 - Mix & Match by Janet Klein

Stamps:
#489 - Wisecracks by Autour de Mwa
#494 - X or O by Janet Klein
#495 - + or X by Janet Klein
#503 - Tinman & Monkey by Janet Klein

Tis the season...

  Hello everyone,

For today's VivaLasVegaStamps! project I have made a postcard. It is Christmas themed, well sort of.....

Here's how I made it:

I stamped the stars with VersaMark ink and heat embossed them with white powder. I then dunked the card into Distress Ink and water; I used Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot. I

Next I stamped randomly over the top using and inked the edges with Black Soot.

Next I stamped, coloured and cut out the images I was going to use. I used Distress Inks again for painting. Tattered Rose and Vintage Photo for the skin, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire for her dress. The top of the hat was stamped with red Distress Oxide (Fired Brick) and I added some shading to it with Copics. I then glued the red top over the black stamped one.

Next thing was assembling. I put some washi tape at the bottom for her the lean on. I then glued all the elements on the card.

I have used the following stamps:

Merry Christmas

 Hello everyone,

I have made a Christmas Card for today's AALL & Create project and I have combined some unlikely stamps for this.

Here's how I made this card:

First, I stamped the images that I wanted to use.

I then coloured them in Christmas colours with my Copic Markers and cut them out.

I took some designer paper, toned it down with white paint and a brayer and printed parts of this stencil on it. I wanted it to be very subtle. I used Distress Oxide ink in the colour Speckled egg for this.

Next I stamped the background, again with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide ink to keep it very subtle.

I use this set for the sentiment and then it was time to put it all together.

I added some black lines and crosses and went around the sentiment with the same black pen.

I have used the following materials:

Stencil:
#56 - Broken Circles by Autour de Mwa

Stamps:
#413 - Merry & Bright by Janet Klein
#582 - Gemini by Janet Klein
#560 - Jolly Elements by Bipasha Bk
#563 - Follow your own path by Tracy Evans

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday! For this weeks Vera Lane Studio post I have made a tag shaped card.

I found this background in my stash and thought it would go well with the Gnome.
I added a little stamping and washitape.

After colouring the tree and the Gnome I glued them onto the tag.
Lastly I added some Clipping stickers by Tim Holtz.

In my dreams

 Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create post I have made an artjournal page with a process video.

I do have some step by step photos but if you like to see how I made this then scroll down and click on the YouTube link.

First I stamped the dog and coloured him with Copic Markers. I then cut him out.

I made the background with a 6 x 6 gelli plate. First I put a layer of white paint on my paper and then I 'coloured in' this stencil with paint. I then pulled the stencil off and waited for the paint on the gelli plate to dry. Once it dried I added a thin layer of white paint and took a print.

This is what it looks like. Of course I then had to tone it down with white paint and a brayer. I do this because I don't want the background to compete with the focal image.

On the toned down version I added stamping and some pink paint splatters.

I then stamped the dog on the page and glued the cut out coloured one over the top. This way I have all the little details. I also added washi tape and some doodle lines.

The sentiment consists of three clipping stickers by Tim Holtz.

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday! For today's Vera Lane Studio post I have made a clean and simple card. I used an older set called 'Tiny snow family.' I also used a stamp by AALL & Create and some AALL & Create washitape both designed by Janet. Later in the month I will have a similar card with a video.

The snowman and -dog were printed, coloured with Copic Markers and cut out. I then stamped the background, dried it, added the washi tape and placed man and dog on the top.
Lastly I added the sentiment.

You'll find the Tiny Snow Family HERE.

Not normal

  Hello everyone,

For today's VivaLasVegaStamps! DT post I have made an artjournal spread. I was listening to the news on the radio on a Thursday in mid November when I heard that the Government was talking about another (third) lockdown. I must say I am fed up with this pandemic and with all the measures that have been implemented and don't really work. So, I felt I had to get it out of my system and that's what I did.

I used Amsterdam acrylic paints to create the background and a home made stencil for the polkadots.
I added background stamping and added the face mask and the altered sentiment.

I used the following stamps:

There's no place like home!

 Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create post I have made a mini book that is rolled up around a card board cilinder. I have used Janet Klein's Wizard of Oz stamps to make this.

Here's how I made this:

I tore two pieces of 12 x 12 design paper by Stamperia into strips and glued them together to make on longer strip. I then added white paint with a brayer to tone down the print. Once that was dry I added stencilling with yellow paint to create 'the yellow brick road'. I also added some numbers for more interest.

Next I added random stamping and I sewed around the edges with my sewing machine.

Here's the whole thing.

Next I stamped my characters and sentiments....

and coloured them with Copic Markers. I cut them all out and ...

glued them onto my paper.

I used a piece of cardboard cilinder from a pack of clingfilm to roll it around.
I added a piece of paper at the left end which I glued to the cardboard.
I also added a piece of ribbon on the right end to be able to keep it closed.

I have used the following materials:

Stencil:
#132 - Flagstone Figures by Autour de Mwa

Stamps:
#495 - + or x by Janet Klein
#338 - Background Noise by Janet Klein
#501 - Dorothy & Toto by Janet Klein
#503 - Tin Man & Monkey by Janet Klein
#505 - Scarcrow & Lion by Janet Klein
