This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone, 

For today's Vera Lane Studio project I have made a postcard with the newly released "Ribbit'. 

I printed and coloured the images. I die cut the card with an AALL & Create die set and coloured it with Distress Oxide Inks and a blending tool. I used orange, yellow, green and blue and then splattered some water on it; it bleached the spots where the water is. I then heat embossed one of Janet's stamps with white powder. After I cut out the images I placed them on the card and glued them down. The heart with the wings is from a set of ephemera by Janet for AALL & Create. Lastly I cut the bigger card in yellow and used it as a mat.

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone, 

Happy Thursday! I'm back after a month long break! For today's project I made a journal spread with Earth Day Dee. 

Isn't Dee amazing, she can do anything ! :o)

After printing and colouring Dee I cut her out. I used Copic Markers and a little bit of coloured pencil to colour her. The pages were ink blended with Distress Oxide ink in a rainbow like pattern. 

I stamped a little using the same inks and also grey and black Versafine Clair. I added splatters, some heat embossing and a few bits of washi tape. I also toned the whole thing down with a brayer and white paint. 

When I was happy I added Dee and the sentiment.

 Hi everyone, 

For today's AALL & Create project I have made a postcard.

Here's how:

I used Distress Oxides with blending tools and a stencil to create this background. 

I stamped the background a little with the same inks and I added the olive branch at the top right which I coloured with Copics. 

A  bit of black stamping along the edges. 

The images I planned to to use. I coloured everything with Copic Markers. In the end I didn't use the scooter. 

I did add more olives on the left side. 

I put down some washi tape and put the images on it. I also glued down the sentiment. A little doodling along the edges and around the sentiment finished it off.

Warm Christmas Wishes

 Hello everyone, 

Today starts a new Challenge over at Country View Challenges and the theme is Christmas. We hope you all play along with us ! Just remember to read the rules before you do! For my first project I have made a Christmas card; well we all need them, don't we?

Here's how:

I started with stamping the snowflake all over the card. I used VersaMark ink. I then heat embossed them with white powder. Next I blended three blue Distress Inks over it creating an ombre effect. I also splattered some water over the ink to get some lighter areas.

Next I used these stamps to add more interest to the card. 

I then stamped the girl and the two sentiments. I was planning on making one sentiment our of the two. I coloured the girl with Copic Markers. 

After adding some washi tape to the bottom of the card and doodling along the edges I glued everything in place. I then glued the panel to a white card. 

All stamps I used are by AALL & Create. Washi tape from my stash.

The big moon

Hello everyone, 

I was very happy to be asked by Abs of AALL & Create to make some samples for the Creative World fair in Frankfurt in Germany which took place on 26th - 29th of January. I will share all of them in the near future. I hope you'll like these new released stamps by Olga Heldwein ! I will list all the stamps, old and new, under the photos. 

This postcard was made by adding Distress Inks to a piece of 6 x 4 paper. I then added water to make it run and get lighter. I stamped the background with black Archival ink and also heat embossed some of the stamping that was done with Distress Oxides. This works really well because they stay wet for a long time. Next I used a stencil and bleached out some circles with water and also used a white pen to go around the circles. The images were stamped, coloured and cut out and then arranged on the card. I used a Clippings sticker by Tim Holtz as the sentiment.

Can you believe it is Friday again ? Time sure goes quickly !

I have a postcard to share for Katzelkraft:

The background was made with white card stock. I used Distress Ink and a blending tool to add colour. Next I put a stencil on top and sprayed water through it. After leaving it for a few seconds I mopped up the water and dried it. Next I stamped the balloons, coloured them with distress inks and coloured pencils and the sheep with Zig Clean Color real brush markers. I cut everything out and placed it on the card. I didn't like it... it was too dark. So I cut out some clouds, added white paint to my background to tone it down and then glued everything down. Lastly I stamped the sentiment.

I have made an art journal page.

I started with heat embossing the flowers (Visible Image) with white WOW embossing powder, then put the colour over the top using a blending tool and Distress Oxide Inks. I stamped and splattered a little and then added the kids, butterflies and text stickers. 

This was a very simple page and easy to replicate if you'd like. I have filmed the process:

and welcome to the last blogpost for Katzelkraft for 2017 and what better way to close the year with a New Years card for you !

This postcard was made by stamping the large background stamp on a piece of 6 x 4 paper and heat embossing it with white WOW embossing powder. I then used a blending tool and green and blue Distress Oxides to put the colour on. I then used a piece of kitchen paper to clean off the ink of the stamp. Next I stamped the cat, once on the card and once on a piece of separate card stock. The hat was stamped again with green ink because I wanted it to be green and not black. 

I coloured the cat and the hat and cut them out after which I adhered him on the one on the card. This way you get a pretty perfect image even if you can't cut out every little detail. 

Lastly I added the sentiment and some doodling with a black pen.

Collect beautiful moments

Hallo allemaal, 

I have made a card today and I really love this stampset by Carabelle. It is right up my street ! 

Vandaag heb ik een kaart gemaakt met de "Venus" set van Carabelle; ik vind hem prachtig ! 

First I die cut a card front with the Crealies CLNestXXL 24, I like the stitched edge. I then stamped the winged heart with VersaMark ink and heatembossed with WOW white embossing powder. Next I used a blending tool with Distress Ink in 'Victorian Velvet' to add colour to the panel. I love how the white embossing pops. I made sure to add more ink around the edges and inside the hearts. 

Next I splattered some of the same ink on the panel. 

I then stamped the main image on book paper, coloured her, partly with the same pink ink and partly with coloured pencils. I then cut her out and adhered her on the panel. Lastly I added the sentiment which is a Small  Talk Sticker by Tim Holtz. Of course you could add a stamped sentiment or make one on the computer and print it out. I then mounted the panel on a piece of black card stock and on a white card. 

Eerst heb ik het kaartpaneel gestanst met de Crealies CLNestXXL 24. Ik vind het gestikte randje hiervan zo leuk. Daarna heb ik het gevleugelde hart gestempeld met VersaMark waarna ik het met wit WOW embossing poeder bewerkt heb. Met Distress Inkt in Victorian Velvet daarna met de blending tool kleur aangebracht; een beetje meer langs de rand en in de harten. 

Ik heb ook met een kwastje wat van de met water verdunde inkt op de kaart gespetterd. 

Vervolgens heb ik de dame gestempeld op boekpapier en heb ik haar lichtjes ingekleurd met dezelfde distress inkt en kleurpotloden. Ik heb haar toen uitgeknipt en op het kaart paneel geplakt. Een sticker 'Small Talk' van Tim Holtz maakt het geheel af. Je kunt natuurlijk ook een gestempelde text gebruiken of er een op de computer maken en uitprinten. Als allerlaatste heb ik het paneel op zwart gemat en daarna het geheel op een witte kaart geplakt.

Two musical cards

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my DT post for Visible Image. Today I have used the fab new stencil 'Grungy Union Jack' and some of the music themed stamps and made two cards.

For the first one I used the good old Distress Inks, a blending tool, water and the new stencil. Doesn't that look fabulous ! I stamped the words Bold and Beautiful on either side and then put the singer in the middle of the two words. I used a stamping tool for this. 

This one was made with Distress Oxide inks, a blending tool and water. I stamped the words and the musician on it using my stamping tool. I then matted the panel on a piece of pattern paper and on a card.

and happy Sunday ! I have another instalment for Vera Lane Studio today ! I do so love the images... I made a tag with one of the 'lil gangstas'.

Isn't he just so cool !!!! I cut a tag from card stock and used a stencil and Distress Oxide Inks to add colour. I then rolled some white paint over it to tone it down and also to make it cooler !! lol. 

I added some pieces of an old map that we used to use for walking in Wales which is really cool too ! 

He was glued in place after I printed him and coloured him with Copic markers. 

The sentiment is from the same set but says Stay Cool... I just used one word and put it into a speech bubble...

Stars can't shine...

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my second post for today. Every now and then I like to play in challenges and this time I have chosen the Oddball Art Stamps by Lizzy Love Challenge. The theme for July is 
'a sky full of stars' so I made an ATC.

I am ashamed to say that I do not own any Oddball images so as the challenge is 'use any image' I chose this little chap called Hayes from Vera Lane Studio. Isn't he gorgeous ! :o) 

Anyway I coloured the background with Distress Inks and a blending tool and then made the stars by splattering white paint over it. The image was coloured with Copic Markers and cut out. I adhered him to the card and typed out the sentiment which was glued on as well.

The whole universe ...

and welcome to my blog where today I am showing a project made for Country View Challenges. It is the 1st of November and that means that a new challenge starts today ! Anyway the theme for this month was chosen by the lovely Rachel and she went for "stars".

I started with a piece of white card stock. Not sure what is is but it is very smooth. Smoother than normal card stock and not as smooth as glossy card stock. I stamped the stars (the stars are from a Dina Wakley set called Grungy Stars)  with Versamark because I wanted to heat emboss them with white powder. This will act as a resist when I apply the ink. 

This is what that looked like... if you can see it, lol...

Here is what it looks like with all the inks applied. 

Next the centre piece, stamped with archival ink on the same paper and heat embossed with black powder so it is nice and black. 

Here is what it looked like after ink was applied.

This is the finished article. I added some background stamping with a script stamp from PaperArtsy from the Eclectica set ESN11 and grey ink. I matted the orange star on black paper to make it stand out more and added some sewing thread under it for more interest. I added a quote from a pack of 'small talk' stickers by Tim Holtz and doodled around the words and the edge of the page...

and Happy Wednesday! It is time for another challenge over at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog and for the next two weeks the theme is "Halloween". We would love it if you played along with us. Just read the rules on the blog first please..

Anyway I have made a tag and this is it :

This is a one layer tag. I started with stamping the cat in grey ink and then coloured her with dark grey Copic Markers to get the idea of a black cat. I coloured the eyes yellow. 

I then stamped Marci and coloured her. Next I used a few green markers to add the grass. 

I then switched to Distress Inks and used a blending tool to add the blue and the purple for the sky, taking care not to ruin my colouring work. I dripped some water on it to get this mottled look. 

I also added some background stamping which you can hardly see. 

Next I stamped the crows and extended the wire they sit on across the tag. 

Lastly I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark and white embossed it.

Well behaved women..

Today for my blogpost for VivaLasVegaStamps! I am sharing an art journal that was part of a set of three art journals that I submitted to RubberStampMadness for publishing in their summer 2016 edition (women of the world)  but unfortunately they didn't make it.
One of my postcards did make it into this edition so it was not all bad ! haha....
Anyway, this art journal was my favourite of the three so for today's post I tweaked it a little here and there and here it is :

I made this page by cutting a piece of Mixed Media paper to size and painting it with gesso. Next I painted it with acrylic paints and dried it. I used a stencil (Tim Holtz - Scribbles) over top with Distress Ink and a blending tool in similar colours. 

I then stamped the background using Archival Inks in similar colours and also some black. (A complete list of all the stamps I used is at the bottom of this post.)

The image of the girl and the sentiment were both stamped on white card stock and coloured with Copic Markers. I then cut them out and adhered them to the page. A double doodle line around the edges finished it off.

and happy Wednesday once again. Today's Stampotique Designers' Challenge hostess is the lovely Nellie and she chose "All creatures great and small" as her theme. This is what she said about her challenge:

'Wild and woolly or friendly and domesticated, we love them all....make sure to include an animal or two in your creation this week.'

I've included a few more !

I used a piece of Mixed Media paper for this art journal that measures 21 x 14,5 cm or 8 1/4 x 5 3/4 inches approx. I used a brayer and some Distress Inks to put some colour on it. I used Broken China and Mermaid lagoon for the blues and Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint for the greens. 

The swirls were created with a Tim Holtz stencil and some more of the Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink; I used a blending tool for this. 

I also stamped the background randomly using the same inks and some black Memento. 

The crows were stamped directly on the background; I just used a bit of the stamp on either side of the page and connected the black line with a pen. 

Next I stamped all the animals, coloured them with Copic Markers and cut them out. I went around all the cut edges with a black marker to make it look like I cut them all out perfectly. 

After I decided where I wanted them I took my page to the sewing machine and added some stitching to stand them all on. I then adhered all the animals and added some shading under them with my Copics. The last thing I did was add some chit chat stickers by Tim Holtz and doodle around them.

Supernova

and welcome to my blog where, today, I am sharing a little tutorial about how I made this tag for my DT post for VivaLasVegaStamps! I had lots of trouble with it along the way, but I will explain what went wrong and how I rectified it with the photos.
So, get yourself a drink, sit down and enjoy !

As usual I'll start with the finished tag:

Most of the stamps I used for this tag are from the latest release April 2016. 

... and here's how :

I started with a tag that I cut myself. I have on Tim Holtz tag left from a pack and I just use that one as a template whenever I need a tag. I do have a die set but I hardly ever use it. It is just as easy to cut one by hand. 

 

Next I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil and some model paste and a palet knife to add some texture. 

I dried this with the heat tool. 

Next I painted a layer of gesso over it. 

I then coloured the tag with Distress Inks and a blending tool. 

Love these colours together... Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry and Carved Pumpkin.

Looked good when it dried. Then I thought I'd better fixate this some how... So I used a spray fixative... first mistake....

It came out all mottled, which I kind of liked. So I decided to continue... 

I then thought the colours needed a bit more oomph so I added some Distress Crayon.... I think I really do not like them... This is the third time I've used them and I have a hard time with them.. 

Anyway.... I then found out that the Distress Ink I used for the first layer was still coming off when I rubbed it so I decided to use Tim's new Distress Collage Medium, crackle of over the top. Of course I knew it was going to smear but I thought that would be OK... This was how it looked and not a crackle in sight.. It might be because I didn't put it on thick enough or because I dried it with the heat tool.. Anyway, everything seemed fixed now. 

Next, the stamping, the fun part ! There is a full list of all the stamps I have used at the bottom of this post.

I then used a white pen and doodled around the stamps.

I wanted to use this gorgeous new star stamp and when I saw this lady in my stamps I thought of putting her in it and that is what I did. 

The star with the lady was then adhered onto the one on the tag with dimensional tape. 

The last thing I did was  stamp the sentiment, cut it apart and adhered it to the tag. I doodled around the words and added a ribbon. 

And here is the finished tag again. I hope you liked my tutorial.... and have learned from my mistakes!
