This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone, 

Happy Thursday! For today's Vera Lane Studio post I have made a journal spread. Journaling is still my favourite thing to do.. I have used the newly released set 'Carmen Miranda'. She was a Portuguese-born Brazilian singer, dancer, and actress. Nicknamed "The Brazilian Bombshell", she was known for her signature fruit hat outfit that she wore in her American films. Anyway, I had fun putting these pages together. 

I started with printing and colouring the images. For the colouring I used Copic Markers, I then cut them out. Next I started on the background which is made with Distress Oxide inks and a blending tool. I applied orange, yellow and green and splattered with water. I then used a brayer and white paint to tone it down even further. I added splatters and some stencilling. This stencil is by Janet via AALL & Create. It is called Margarita Dreams #185. Next I added some stamping with black ink with a textstamp from a set also by Janet via AALL & Create (African Voices #692). 

I then placed the images on the page. I drew the branch and the little flowers and placed the bird and the leaved on it. Carmen was placed on the opposite page. Lastly I added the sentiment.

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hi everyone, 

For this week's Vera Lane Studio project I have made tag. I used Violetta and she is very sweet. She came out this week in different guises. 

I love these 'squishies'; they are adorable. 

I have used a piece of gelliprinted paper from my stash and used a brayer and white paint to tone it down slightly. I then added a little stamping. Violetta was printed, coloured and cut out. I made the sentiment from words from a dictionary and some Tim Holtz stickers. I added some washi tape to stand her on and some in the right hand corner for balance and that was it.

 Hello everyone, 

For today's AALL & Create GDT project I have made an artjournal spread.

Here's how:

I used a brayer and light blue and purple paint to get some colour on the pages. I let it dry in between layers. I then used white acrylic paint to tone it down.  Next I used this stencil and the same light blue paint to add the circles. I then toned it down again with white paint.

I added stamping using Archival and VersaFine Clair inks. (I just use inks by the colours I want, I don't look what type of ink they are). 

Next I stamped the tall girl and the sentiment. 

I wanted to add some washi tape but didn't like it until I had just a small piece in the top right corner. I also doodled around the pages with a black pen.  

I then put everything together.

Missed your call...

 Hello everyone, 

For today's AALL & Create project I have made a double artjournal spread. I was supposed to be a single page but this sort of happened and I just went along with it. I really enjoyed this one; Miss Dee cracks me up! 

Here's how I made it:

I used my Dylusions journal for this. It is the 8" x 8" one. I put this stencil on the right hand page; I added some temporary glue underneath because it was not entirely lying flat. 

I sprinkled pigment powders over it, yellow and red for the flowers, teal and green for the leaves. I then spritzed it with water. 

I then took the stencil off and dried it with my heat tool. 

Next I put the stencil back on and went through the holes with a black pen. Not sure if this made it better... 

There was so much ink still on the stencil.... I usually put it on a paper towel but I forgot to put one out so I put it on the left page. I really liked that ! I decided to make it into a double spread. 

Of course it was much to bright for me so I used a brayer and some paint to tone it down. I didn't use white paint this time but something close to the colour of the paper in the book. 

I think putting the paint over the top made the pages more to a coherent whole spread. When the paint was dry I randomly stamped the pages. Not too much as I liked it the way it was. 

Added some washi tape. 

Next I coloured Miss Dee with my Copics and cut her out. 

After putting down some more of the same washi tape I glued Miss Dee and the sentiment into place. I really like the end result.

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone, 

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio project I have made a postcard. I used the set "Spring Dress" which was released this week. She is adorable. 

I used a  brayer to add the turquoise acrylic paint to the card and let it dry. I then did the same with the fuchsia colour. When that was still wet I put one of Janet's stencils on it and wiped away the paint in the openings of the stencil with a baby wipe. I then took the stencil off and dried it. 

As always I rolled over some white acrylic paint to tone it down. Next I added the stamping and some washitape.  (All AALL & Create)

Next I resized and printed the little girl, coloured her with Copic Markers and cut her out. I placed her on the washi tape to ground her. I added a sentiment from the same set and that was that !

Make art not war

For today's VivaLasVegaStamps! project I have made an artjournal page and I had to use some Banksy inspired stamps again. I simply love them ! 

The background was made by painting it turquoise and lime and adding stencilling with the same colours, white and dark pink acrylic paint. I used Dina Wakley acrylics. I also used a brayer and white paint to tone the whole thing down again. I added stamping, doodling and washi tape and placed the soldiers on the top of the washi tape to ground them. The sentiment was cut apart and glued onto the page. I added some of the dark pink paint along the bottom edges of the words and at the end of the brush that the soldier on the right is holding.

Curiouser and curiouser

 Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create post I have made a mini journal page with some of the new release stamps. 

Here's how I made it:

First I used a brayer and blue and green paint and just rolled it over the piece of card stock. When that had dried I stamped the hearts and heat embossed them with white powder. 

Next I stamped the background randomly using the Wisecracks set and the sentiment from the Alice set. I used similar colours and grey and black ink to stamp.

I then stamped Alice and the sentiment. 

I coloured her with Copic Markers.

Adding some of Janet's washi tape here and there. 

and there she is! I glued her and the sentiment to the page and added some doodling with a graphite pencil.

An art journal page

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog where today I am sharing an art journal page that I have made for AALL & Create. Here it is:

And here is how:

I used a brayer and three colours of acrylic paint to colour my paper. I then used the Totally Dotty stencil to add the white circles. I used acrylic paint, but you could also use gesso. 

I then printed this stencil with Distress Oxide Inks. 

I toned it down with more white paint and my brayer and added some stamping. I used Distress Oxide inks in similar colours to the background. 

Next, more stamping with black for the contrast. 

I used the bottom of the typewriter stamp to add some more stamping in grey. I stamped it over the black circles and then dragged the ink pad over the edges. 

I wanted some more texture so I added some modelling paste through this stencil. 

I had a piece of paper that I used to mop up the left over paint from the background and stamped one of these lovely flowers on it. I planned to add some more colour with Big Brush Markers. They work really well over acrylic paint. 

After colouring I cut the flower out and added it to my page on which I also stamped the flower to get all the small details. I added the sentiment which is part of the Typewriter stamp I used before. 

Lastly I also used a black fine liner and a ruler to add the black line around the page.

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio post I have made two postcards.

This card was made with the newly released 'What the fluff' set. She and her hat come separately so you can combine them or use them separately. I coloured her with Copic Markers and Pablo coloured pencils and cut her out. I then prepared the background; I sprayed a piece of card stock with Distress Oxide ink in Mowed lawn, added some stencilling, stamping and I used a brayer to put on some white paint and that was that.

This postcard was made with one of the 'Firefly Fairies',  I coloured her with my Copic Markers and cut her out. I used one of the backgrounds in my stash. I cannot even remember how and why I made this background. I found 3 similar ones... I added white paint with a brayer to tone it down, put some tissue paper down and then added some washi tape for her to stand on. I also doodled around the card.
