This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

and Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio blogpost I have made an ATC and a journal page.

I made this ATC with the newly released dog from the set "Skulldoos"; I am not that much into skulls so I decided to use the dog in stead. If you like skulls you should have a look at this set.
The dog was coloured with a combination of Copic Markers and pencils. The background is a gel print from my stash. I doodled around the edges, added washi tape and placed the dog on it. The sentiment is from the same set.

You will find 'Skulldoos' HERE

This journal page was made with the frog from the set 'No ordinary lovestory' which is not in the shop but available on request. Just let Janet know. I coloured him with watercolours and pencils over the top. I love doing this. The background was lying on my desk. I used this piece of paper to roll off my brayer and thought it was to nice to throw away. I made a little cluster if washi tape, pattern paper and a sticker for froggie to sit on and then decided to leave it.

Begin with small steps

Hello everyone,

It is time for another project for AALL & Create. I  bought a bag of lollypop sticks because I saw the lovely Samantha Read make some lovely projects with them. Today was the day to use them myself and I made a panel by gluing some of them together:

And here's how:

I started with gluing some sticks together, painting them with gesso and applying modelling paste with this stencil.

Next step I painted it with a very light blue/turquoise acrylic paint. When this was dry I added some spray ink to the modelling paste to accentuate the texture and after this was dry I randomly stamped the rest of the panel. The back is the same by the way just no modelling paste.

Next I stamped one of the flowers from this set and the sentiment that I wanted to use. I didn't in the end and chose a different one.

I coloured only the parts that I was going to use with my Copic markers using a few shades of orange, a red and some greens.

I layered the different parts of the flower to get a little dimensional effect and glued it into the panel. Lastly I added the sentiment.

Close up of the flower, you can't see the dimension really well.

I think it turned out cute ! I hope Samantha thinks so too ! lol

I used the following stamps:

# 195 - Flowers and Gears by Olga Heldwein
#211 - Count on you by Aida Domisiewicz
#200 - Hope by Tracy Evans
Stencil no: #28 by Autour de Mwa

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday and welcome to my weekly blogpost for Vera Lane Studio. Today I have a mini journal page and a card to show you. Both were made with newly released images.

This gorgeous girl is called 'Blondie' and I printed and watercoloured her. I then cut her out and made an inky background for her. The sentiment is a snarky sticker by Tim Holtz.

You'll find 'Blondie' HERE.

This birthday card was made with the newly released 'Mix N Match Vases'. I printed one of the vases and one of the flowers and coloured them with Copics, cut them out and then set to work on the background. I wanted a clean and simple (ish) card. I glued some tissue paper, then some pattern paper with chevrons and lastly the sentiment; I kept everything black and white.

You'll find the Mix N Match Vases HERE

Follow your heart

Hello everyone,

Today's VivaLasVegaStamps! project is a card. I used my favourite colours too !

and here's how I made it:

I used Distress Oxides and the 'smooshing' method..

This is the result. I love those bright colours !

Next I added white acrylic paint through this Um Wow Studio stencil called 'Chunky Heart Stencil' and went around the hearts inside the stencil with a white paint pen.

I also rolled over some more white paint with a brayer. Next I randomly stamped the background using the same Distress Oxides and some black Versafine Clair ink.

I chose this bunny for my focal point, he is going to carry the heart. I stamped it in pink but later changed it to black.

I coloured the bunny with Copics and added more shading with coloured pencils, cut him out and cut his arm loose. I then tucked the heart underneath.

I then assembled everything together. I also added some pink splatters and a doodle line along the edges of the card panel. Lastly I adhered the panel onto a white card base measuring 5"x7".

I have used the following stamps:

Other materials:
Distress Oxide inks - Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed
Um Wow Studio stencil 'Chunky Heart Stencil'
White acrylic paint
Posca paint pens in white and pink
Copic Markers
Coloured pencils by Caran d'Ache
Versafine Clair Nocturne, Memento Tuxedo Black
A piece of washitape

This postcard was made by assembling the images, printing them on watercolour paper and then I painted everything with watercolours. A clippings sticker makes the sentiment.

A mini book for AALL & Create

Hello everyone,

I have a mini book to share today. I had made one recently and really enjoyed it so I thought I'd make another one for AALL & Create. It might be small, just over 2" in total it was quite a labour of love to make this from scratch !

Here's how I made it :

I started with a gel press plate, acrylic paints and this stencil to create my background for the book.

Next I cut the pages to size; 10 pieces measuring 2"x2" (they are called 'Twinchies') I also cut 5 pieces of black card stock to make the bases of the pages with. These are just a little larger than the Twinchies. The ring is going to be used as the binding to make the Twinchies into a little book.

The next step was to stamp the backgrounds. I used Distress Oxide inks in similar colours as the backgrounds and a little black.

I then chose which images I was going to use from these stamp sets. The one on the right was just used for the backgrounds.

After I stamped all the Twinchies, I coloured the images with coloured pencils. Some straight on the Twinchie, some I stamped again on white card stock, coloured and cut out.

Next I added some modelling paste through this stencil.

And this is how it eventually turned out. I glued all the Twinchies onto the black panels, front and back, punched a hole through all of them and put them onto the ring. I added som ribbons to make it look pretty !

What the quack

Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create GDT post I have made a one layer card.

There isn't much too it so here goes:

I stamped all the images from the two stamp sets, masking as I went along. I wanted the ducks to be in the 'windows'.

I then coloured everything with watercolours, trying to keep it a little artsy and not too precise.

Some close ups.

When I was happy with it I splattered some white and black paint on it. I then layered the panel on a piece of black card stock and then onto a white card.

These ducks crack me up..

I have used two stamp sets:

#78 - Quirky circles by Louise Nelson
#135 - Quack the Duck by Olga Heldwein
