In the nick of time...

Hello everyone,

When I was on holiday I actually made a little set of 3 ATC's to enter into this months VLVS! Challenge. I forgot to link them though.
I have a few hours still, so here goes:

These ATC's were inspired by August's moodboard :

Marilyn

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all having a great weekend !

Just thought I'd share this with you today. It is a canvas with a Marilyn stencil and I think it came out quite nice...

I used Dina Wakley & Dylusions paints, stencils, stamps and archival inks for this. The Marilyn stencil is from a Dutch company called Stampingback. They do lovely stamps too !

What if....

Hello everyone,

and happy Wednesday to you. Another Challenge is ready to be taken on and this week boss Kim has told us to do anything we want. So I made an art journal as that is still my favourite pastime..

I started painting the page with Dylusions paints which I mixed with a little white to make them a bit  softer. I then took a stencil and model paste and added the chevrons just next to the middle of the page. I then stamped the background.
Next I doodled the border around the page. Little Checkers looks really worried doesn't he ? lol He was stamped on white card stock, coloured with Copic Markers and cut out. I went around the cut edges with a black marker. That way it looks as if he was cut out perfectly. I added a piece of washi tape to put Checkers on and adhered him on to the page.
The sentiment was typed on my old typewriter, cut into strips, inked the edged with Distress Ink in similar colours as the background and then glued them in place.

I used the following stamps:

We would love you to play along with us this week, so get your stamps out and make something, anything... Just remember no digi's on only one entry per person per challenge. You never know, you might just win one of the two $30 vouchers at the end of the month ! Good luck !

Thank you for stopping by today !!

Welcome to the Stampotique New Release Bloghop!!!

Hello everyone,

Today we are celebrating the new Stampotique  release with a bloghop. If you haven't had a chance to see what's new, you can do that over on the Stampotique website here.
As with any of the releases, there is a variety of stamps from our artists for any stampers, scrapbookers and journalers out there.  We always love to see what your favorites are so while you are hopping around, make sure to stop by and say "hi" on our blogs and come back here and tell us what some of your favorite images from this release were.
We'll be giving away a $30 gift certificate for stamps and a grab bag of stamps on two of the blogs-but you won't know which ones they are so stop by and visit them all.  We will pick the winners on our first challenge in September.
Have fun hopping!
I have made an art journal. I love art journals and I love the new release so that was a match made in heaven....

The base of these pages is gesso and Dylusions Paints, applied with my fingers. I then stamped (with Archival Ink in orange and black) and stencilled (with white and black Dylusions paints) the background, giving the numbers some shading after the paint dried.
For the sentiment I used the word 'stinking' (stamped on a piece of pattern paper) which comes with a cute little skunk. The words 'so' and 'cute' are sticky letters.
Now this little guy is easy my most favourite stamps of this release and his name is Newton. I couldn't resist calling him cute, although not everyone will love him like I do....
I stamped him on white card stock and coloured him with Copic Markers, cut him out and glued him on the page after stamping him there as well. I used some washi tape here and there and drew some lines around the pages.

I have used the following stamps, all from the new release:

Symphony Scroll (faintly in the background)
Skunk with word (just the word)
Newton (Isn't he cute ?!)

You should have arrived from Sue Davies and if you didn't, you may want to start the blog hop from the beginning (SDC blog).

Here is the whole blogroll :

Lastly there is some sad news from Kim:

"I've been the design team coordinator with Stampotique shortly after I begged and begged to be a part of the design team.  I've thoroughly enjoyed my time on the team, the great friends I've made, the way I've grown as a stamper, and mostly being a part of the Stampotique family.  This is my last blog hop as I turn the reigns over to my wonderful design team member in taking over for me, Claudine Criner.  Claudine will do a fabulous job and while I may not be as involved with Stampotique as I have been in previous years, I will always remain a faithful stalker.  Thank you to all of you out there who always took time to leave comments or drop me a note-I always appreciated getting them."

Thanks for stopping by today!

Adventure awaits

Hello everyone,

For my DT post for VivaLasVegaStamps! this time, I fancied doing a little canvas, so that is what I did. I made lots of photos of the process so go and get yourself a drink, sit down and enjoy !

First of all the finished article; I thought it came out nice.

And this is how I made this :

I started with a gessoed canvas, size 8"x 8" or 20 x 20 cm.

I used Dylusions paints and an old card to crape on the paint, you could of course just use a brush or your fingers !

This was the result.

Next I used a stencil and some model paste to create some texture.

This is what is looks like....

Next: Put the stencil back and use a blending tool and Dylusions paint white to accentuate the flowers.

The just become a little whiter.

Now with the same white paint, read some on your craft sheet with a brayer and use this as an ink pad. Then stamp the flowers a few times.

Here's what that looks like... make sure to wash your stamp straight away (and your stencil too) as dried paint is very hard to remove....

Next, I used a blending tool and Archival Ink to ink up the edges of the canvas. If you don't like this, you don't have to do this...

Next : Mark making. Use the same card you used for scraping the paint on and make marks with black paint.. You can see the result in the next photo...

Then the background gets stamped; I used black and grey Archival inks and a couple of stamps. (A complete list of all the stamps I used is at the bottom of this post.

This is what that looks like..

Now it is time for the main image. I stamped the bird twice on tissue paper with Archival ink and then clear embossed them. That way they get even more black. You then adhere them to the canvas with gel medium.

Here is what that looks like...

Next I took some Faber Castell Big Brush Markers to colour the birds a little.. I also stamped the sentiment "adventure awaits" at the bottom right.

A close up of both birds...

A view from the left...

 Front view...

And here is the last photo of the finished project !

I have used the following stamps:

Spread your wings

Hello everyone,

For the last few days I have been wanting to do 'something else'. So today I did do something else. I made an art journal in my Moleskine journal and didn't use a stamp as a main image. I hope you like this one too !! Please let me know what you think...

This journal was started with gesso, after which I used a stencil and some heavy gel medium to make the pattern. I thought the gel medium would resist the sprays.... not so.
I used 4 Lindy's Stamp gang sprays:

Café au lait
Clam Bake Beige
Blue Hawaiian Blue
Afternoon Delight Denim

I kept spraying, drying and dripping until I was happy with the result. I used some Finnabair stampsand  a bottle top to embellish the background and also a stencil from Tim Holtz.
The main image is one of Tim Holtz' Photo Booth photos. I distressed it a little to make it look older.
I used some stuff I had lying around to make a mat for this photo strip. I used some book paper, some fabric and a bit of lace.
Next I stamped the butterflies (Finnabair) on some gessoed book paper and coloured it with the Blue Hawaiian Blue spray. I stapled them here and there.

Lastly I stamped the sentiment (Finnabair) on the edge of some of the same book paper and glued it on the opposite page, finishing it off with some more butterflies and a date stamp.

Some details...

Stand out !

Hello everyone,

and welcome to another Stampotique Designers' Challenge. Today's hostess is Sam and she chose the theme 'repeat yourself'. This is what she said:

"I recently read that the human eye likes things that are repeated, so for this week's challenge I'm inviting you to use some sort of repetition on your creations. A stamp stamped more than once or even you own doodling. It's up to you but most importantly have fun!"

I decided to make an art journal and this is it :

The base of this art journal is a gelli print. I added some stamping and stencilling and then stamped Heart Throb and the dog. I coloured 1 of the Heart Throbs and the dog with Copic Markers. he rest of the Heart Throbs was stamped on gessoed book text and I only added a little bit of shade with a grey pencil. I then cut them all out and adhered them to the page on top of some washi tape.
Next I made the sentiment on my typewriter, cut it into strips and adhered them to the page too.
That finished the page.

I used the following stamps :

Thank you so much for stopping by !

Why not join us this week and you might win a $30 voucher to spend it the shop HERE.

Just remember : NO Digi's and only one entry per person per challenge !

As usual I didn't have all the stuff Tim used but I did my best.
I hope you like my take on his fab tag.

If I only had the nerve!

Hello everone,

and welcome to Stampotique Wednesday! Today is Jackie's turn to choose the theme for the weekly Challenge and she decided on : Animals. This is what she said :

''We all love our animals......incorporate an animal in your project..."

So that is what I did and made a postcard..

I love the Wizard of Oz images which are designed by Janet Klein.. So I decided, as he is an animal, to use him today.
The card was painted with my fingers and Dylusions paints. Next I put some model paste through a stencil. I stamped the background and decided it needed some splatters. I used white an black ink for this. Next I stamped the Lion. He was coloured with watercolour pencils and a water brush and cut out. I added some washitape and stamped the swirl in the left bottom corner as I thought it needed something more. I coloured the swirl with Big Brush Markers.
Then it was time to put the Lion on the card. I doodled a little line around the card and made the sentiment with my typewriter.

I used the following stamps:

Hello everyone,

Today it is my turn on the VLVS! Blog. I have made a set of three Alice in Wonderland ATC's. I have been making ATC's in threes for a while now and I am really enjoying this.... Hope I don't bore you with them....

Close- up of the queen

Close-up of Alice

Close- up of Tweedledee and Tweedledum

Here you can see you can still use them separately.

These ATC's were made with three pieces of card stock, VivaLasVegaStamps! & Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and Copic Markers, nothing else.
All I did was stamp the images on the ATC's and coloured them and the backgrounds. That was it !

I have used the following stamps:

La dolce vita

Hello everyone,

Another not so nice day in the UK means I can do a little crafting. My supplies are limited as you can guess but it is still very enjoyable. I have made an art journal featuring a couple of Stampotique Stamps (Birdy up and La Dolce Vita) but I had to use a couple of different stamps for the background (Finnabair by Prima). I really enjoyed making this and that is the most important thing I think...

So here it is:

The colours are not entirely true as the background is a little greener in real life..

I started with painting the page with Dylusions 'Fresh Lime'. I then added some blue but had to use my Neocolors as I didn't bring my blue Dylusions paint. I then used a few stencils with black and white paint and some more Neocolors. I coloured the birds with Copic Markers and cut them out. (I brought a load of stamped images as I couldn't bring a lot of stamps). I cut out the sentiment.  After I splattered some white ink on the page I went looking for a bit of twine to sit my birds on and found it ! Yay... Everything was then assembled on the page.

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Smile !

Hello everyone,

and happy Wednesday to you ! Another Challenge has been launched on the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog. Our hostess today is Claudine and she chose the theme "Photobomb" and this is what she said :

"We all know those crazy animals or people who make funny faces behind or in front of us while we are taking a photo or those who like to take photos of themselves. Well this challenge is all about that. I want to see those funny photo bomb projects or your best selfie.".

I decided on an art journal page :

I started off with glueing Tim Holtz tissue paper on the page and covering it with gesso. I then painted over it with Distress Paint in the colour 'Broken China' and also some green acryllic 'Silk'. It has a bit of shimmer in it.. Next I used a PaperArtsy stencil and some model paste to put the arrows on the page. I then used some pigment powders and water to get some more definition around the arrows. I stamped the background randomly and then doodled a few lines around the page with a black marker.
I found an image of an iPhone, photographed it, adjusted the size and printed it.. I then stamped Twinkie, coloured him and cut him out. The Smile frame is a die that was given to me as a present by my lovely friend Nikki
I lined the frame with some pattern paper and put Twinkie partly in and partly out of the frame.. The little iPhone was propped in his hand. I used a part from the little figure in 'Framed" for the Photobomb bit.. So really it is a selfie with a photobomb!

I only used three Stampotique Stamps for this : Twinkie, Framed and Vintage bill

I had so much fun creating this page... Maybe you would like to play along this month. You never know, you might just win one of two $30 vouchers for the online store at the end of the month. Just remember : NO digi's and only one entry per person per challenge.. Good luck !!

Thank you so much for stopping by today !
