For this week's Stampotique Designers' Challenge the theme is St. Patrick's Day and it was set by Jackie. This is what she had to say about her challenge:

'St. Patrick's Day was lucky for me. I married my husband on this date so I would like to see the luck of the Irish in your project such as lucky clovers.'

I must say I struggled with this one as St. Patrick's Day is not celebrated in Holland. So I googled it and came up with this "

This 'good luck' card was started with stamping the 'clover' which is made out of 3 'My heart' stamp images. I drew the stem. I coloured the hearts with Copic Markers and cut them out. Next I stamped one of the '3 dwarfy gnomes' without his pointy hat. I masked the hat of with sticky tape. Just don't forget to remove the sticky tape before stamping... I found this top hat in my stash, I drew it ages ago for another project and used it as a template to draw another one. I love the fact that it is really to big for him. lol 

I then coloured the gnome and the hat with Copic Markers too, making sure to use a different shade of green. 

Next I took a piece of pattern paper from my stash and brayered some white acrylic paint in the middle. I did this so the images would stand out a little better. Next I glued down the hearts forming a clover and the stem. I attached the top hat to the gnome's head and then adhered the gnome on the panel too. I used a coloured pencil to ground him. With the 'Typewriter Alpha Stamps' I made the sentiment. I cut out all the letters separately and drew a little black line around the pieces of card stock. I then adhered the letters to the card panel.  Next I cut a mat our of black card stock, and adhered the panel to it. The whole thing was then adhered to a 5"x7" card. 

That was it.

A postcard

For my DT post for Lost Coast Designs today I have a postcard to share with you. It was great fun to make:

I used model paste and a stencil on a white postcard. When it was dry I sprayed it with Lindys Stamp Gang Flat Fabios in pink and orange. I also went around the edge with black ink, then thought it was to dark en rubbed it with white chalk ink. I then sprinkled silver embossing powder on that and heat embossed it. I randomly stamped the background and then stamped the lady and the butterflies and coloured them with Copic Markers, cut them out and went around the cut edge with a black marker. This was it looks like your cutting was perfect. I adhered everything to the card and that was that.

Happy UN-birthday

It is Wednesday and that means there is a new Challenge up over at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog. Today's theme was chosen by the lovely and very talented France Papillon and she this is what she said :

'We often expect cards on our birthday. How about surprising someone with an unbirthday card? With or without Alice in Wonderland inspiration, make a happy unbirthday card!'

So that is what I did ! 

I started this card with a piece of white card stock. I used a stencil and Sand paste from the Deco Art Media Line to create the arrows.. It gives a lot of texture. Next I dusted off my Twinkling H2O's. The finished card is very shimmery. Unfortunately you can't really see that here... 

Next I stamped a few circles on the background and then It was time to stamp 'Mad Hatter' and the balloons from 'Romek'. 

They were coloured with Copic Markers and cut out. I made a little slit under Mad Hatters arm for the cords of the balloons. Next I coloured some natural twine and tied it to the balloons. They were then adhered to the card. I slipped the twine in the hole under Mad Hatters arm and then adhered him also. I used a drop of glue to secure the twine. 

The sentiment was made using the 'Happy birthday' stamp and a Dymo Labeler. I adhered it to the card on top of some strips of washi tape. 

I used the same washitape around the card base before adhering the panel on top.

Blue and white art journal

For today's Lost Coast Designs DT post I have made a blue and white art journal.

I started these pages by glueing book pages on part of it (middle). I then brushed it lightly with Gesso. Next I took a stencil and mixed blue glitter with gel medium. This created the flowers. After this dried I then dripped some spray ink on the page and sprayed it with water. I dried this with my heat tool. 

After that I tool the Butterfly set and stamped two of them randomly on the pages. "Head in Hands' was stamped on Adirondack paper and cut out. I wound some bakers twine around the image and adhered her on top of part of a doily, some more book pages and a bit of Plaster bandage that I coloured with the same spray ink. That completed the page.

and happy Wednesday to you ! Over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog the theme this week is 'Love & Hearts' and was set by Kristen. This is what she said :

"February 14th is Valentines day, so why not create something that is surrounded with hearts and love..."

I made a tag :

I recently purchased this chicken stamp called 'Henny Penny' and wanted to use it.. 

I started with a Gelli Print and stamped it with 'Fax to Wolfgang' and 'Daniel's Hearts'. I coloured the hearts lightly with colour pencils. Next I stamped 'Love' and 'Henny Penny' on white card stock. Henny Penny was also reversed; I used a flat bit of rubber for this. So you stamp your image on this rubber and then use the rubber to stamp the image in reverse. The chickens and the 'love' stamp were coloured, clear embossed and cut out. I adhered them to the tag. I then doodled two lines around the tag with a fine tipped pen and lastly I coloured a chipboard heart with Copic Markers and clear embossed it before adhering it to another piece of the same gelli print which was also lightly coloured with pencils before adhering it to the tag. A little bit of ribbon finished it off...

Serenity

Here's another helping of Lost Coast Designs.. I made a card this time:

As a base I used a gelli print. I used white ink, a stencil and a blending tool to add the white dots. The stamp is called "Serenity Diva" and she was stamped on the gelliprint and on a separate piece of card stock. I coloured the image on the white card and cut out everything apart from the wiggly lines next to the head. I then adhered the cut out image on top of the one on the cardpanel. I added some sequens and some seed beads and then matted the panel on some black card stock after which I glued the whole thing on a white card base.

Trio of Banksy tags

For my DT post at VivaLasVegaStamps! I have three tags to share with you. I love the VLVS! Banksy stamps and couldn't resist playing with them again. I have also used quite a few other rubber stamps, all VivaLasVegaStamps! You will find a complete list at the bottom of this post.

This is the finished result

Paint tags with gesso. Also gesso a piece of card stock for sentiments if wanted/needed)

When the gesso has dried, stamp the images with Archival ink and heat emboss. I used black embossing powder to get a real black image. 

Randomly glue (I used gel medium)  book text around the images and put a thin coat of gesso over it. Make sure you can still see the text. 

Use a stencil, model paste and a paletknife of old credit card and add more texture to your tag. 

After this has dried (you can use a heat tool) the fun can start. Use different spray inks to colour the tags. I didn't spray; I used a brush as, although the images repel the ink, when drying the ink with a heat tool you might melt some of the liquid into the embossed images leaving light spots. If this happens you can always touch it up with a black marker. 

The last thing you do is stamp the background, use a fine tipped marker to doodle here and there, splatter some white ink (avoiding the images),  adhere your sentiments (if using) and add some ribbon. I also used some plaster bandage for added interest.

Can you believe it is the 1st of February already !  For my DT post over at Roc's Facebook page I made another postcard. I am addicted to making postcards I think. They are so much fun...

I can't get enough of this horse... although today he seems to be a zebra !

I started with a postcard that had the pink colour and doily on it already. It has been in my stash for quite a while now. I think it was sprayed with a Tattered Angels glimmer spray and then I had some model paste left over from another project and put that on through a doily stencil. While that was still wet I sprinkled glittering embossing powder over it and heat embossed it. It is so pretty; shame the sparkle gets lost in the photo ! 

You can see it a bit better here....

To start with I glued some pattern paper (Bo Bunny - C'est la vie) along the top left corner and some at the bottom. This was to put the horse /zebra on later. I then took it to my sewing machine and stitched around the card. 

Next I stamped 'Horse', minus his hat, on white card stock and coloured him, first with different greys to get the shady parts and pink for his nose and ears; then I took a black fine tipped pen and turned him into a zebra.... For the three flowers I used 'Daisy Head' which I stamped on patterned paper from the same paper pad and cut out.

I typed the sentiment on white card stock; I used my old typewriter for this. I then adhered all the elements on the postcard.

Road trip...

Today it is my second posting as a DT member for VivaLasVegaStamps!  and I am still very excited to be on the team... I have chosen to make a postcard for today's posting and I have explained how I made it.

It is going to be a long one so get a cup of coffee and join me !

This is the end result :

Let's get started ! 

Start with a postcard cut from white card stock and colour with Distress Inks and a blending tool. I used : Tumbled glass, Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans and Chipped Sapphire.

Start building your background starting light at the bottom and darkest at the top, go back the other way to blend it all together. Drip some water over it; Distress Inks react with water so you get some nice lighter spots. Next tear some patterned paper (I used Kaiserkraft "Now Boarding") and adhere to the bottom of the card. Add some sewing around this piece. 

Pull the ends of the threads through and secure on the back of the card. 

Next stamp the background randomly (sorry forgot photo, but you can see it in the photo underneath). 

I used the following stamps for the background :

Next I rubbed my Archival ink pad around the edges of the card. 

Stamp the sign on patterned paper (the same I used for the bottom) and cut out. Set aside.

Stamps main image on white card stock and also on the card. That way you have all the details of the stamp without having to cut them all out. I also stamped the sentiment at the bottom of the card saying 'road trip'.

 Now the fun part begins: Colouring the image. I used Memento Tuxedo black ink for stamping as I was going to use my Copic Markers. This ink works very well with these markers. 

Get 3 or 4 shades of brown ready and start with a base colour which is the lightest. Next start adding a darker colour in the areas where the shadows are. VLVS! stamps are very good for colouring as many of them have the shadow areas already. Repeat with an even darker colour but don't go all the way over the medium colour. Next go back the other way, so medium to light, blending the colours together. Keep repeating until you are happy with the result. Finish colouring the whole image this way doing little bits at a time. 

This is the finished result of colouring the dog...

I coloured the little car in the same way. I used 3 shades of red.

Next, cut out the image. All the white edges will be gone when you go around the cut edges with a black marker. So it doesn't matter if you don't cut it out perfectly.

The finished, cut out image, isn't he cute !!! 

Now put all the elements together on the card and see if you are happy with the end result. I wasn't and added some more white stamping with the Coffee Rings.
