Clockwork heart

Hello fellow Crafters,

and happy Wednesday to you. Teamie Kathy set the challenge over at the Stampotique blog today and she wants us to make a steampunk piece. This is what she said :

"Steampunk is an inspired movement of creativity and imagination. With a backdrop of either Victorian England or America’s Wild West at hand, modern technologies are re-imagined and realized as elaborate works of art, fashion, and mechanics. If Jules Verne or H.G. Wells were writing their science fiction today, it would be considered “steampunk.”"

My challenge to you is to create a Steampunk project using your stamps and your imagination!

This was quite a challenge for me. Although I really like Steampunk it is not something I do very often. But after a while I came up with this :

I started with a #12 tag which I painted with silver acrylic paint. I then rubbed a versa mark pad over a few places and embossed it with silver embossing powder. After that cooled I glued some book text over the embossed places and rubbed the book paper with a silver ink pad I found at the bottom of a box. I then aged the whole thing by using a blending tool with black Archival ink.
I then used a Tim Holtz stencil, again with black Archival ink for the clocks.
I stamped 'Fofe' on white card stock and coloured him with Copics, clear embossed the image and then cut it out. I adhered him to the tag and went on the internet to find a steampunk saying. I used sticky letters on acetate to spell the sentiment and stapled it to the tag.
Fofe's goggles and clockwork heart were embellishments I had in my stash. I glued them onto Fofe with Glossy Accents.
I then stole some metal washers from my husband's stash (he builds model aeroplanes) and put them on the tag with brads.
Lastly I matted the whole thing on black card stock and put a ribbon through the hole, on which I hung a metal key with a safety pin.

Thanks for stopping by !

Hope you like it......

  3. Brads + washers - brilliant! I thought they might be little rivets like on jeans. Great steampunkish tag and all of your elements were so well together. (Love Fofe's goggles!)
