This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday to you ! For today's Vera Lane projects I have made an ATC and a journal spread. I have filmed the process of making the journal spread so there is a VIDEO too.

This ATC was easy to make. I just coloured the flying saucer and then painted the ATC with one shade of blue and white and black paint to create this ombre look. I added white dots for the stars.

You'll not find this set 'Lost in Space' in the shop, but it is still available on request.

Next the journal spread :

If you want to know how I made it....

This set was released this week and you'll find it HERE.

Thank you so much for stopping by !

Make your mark

 Hello everyone,

Today I have a little decorated notebook to show you. This was lying around on my desk and I though it was a nice little project for a cold and dark afternoon.

Here's how I did it:

First I glued some washi tape on the spine because I didn't want to see the red. I covered it with another layer later because the red still came through.

I used a small gelli plate and this stamp, some Versafine Clair ink and white acrylic paint to make these little backgrounds. The one on the right didn't come out very well so I resorted to stamping the same stamp over the top with the same Versafine Clair Inks.

Next, I stamped the background a little.

I also added some more washi tape ..

I stamped these poppies and cut them out. I used some MM patterned paper that has been in my stash for years..

I cut them out and adhered them to my book covers.

I dug out an older stamp set for the sentiment and stamped it on the same paper.

I added some doodling and some splatters.

and glued the covers to the book.

It turned out ok I think although I don't love it but these things happen...

I used the following AALL & Create products:

Washi tape:
#7 - Winged friends by Tracy Evans
#9 - Cut, Tear, Layer by Tracy Evans
Stamps:
#400 - Numerator by Tracy Evans
#395 - Papaver Poppies by Tracy Evans
#341 - Pen & Ink by Tracy Evans

This week at Vera Lane Studio

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's post I have made a tag and a journal page.

This lovely girl is from the newly released set "New Dress". I printed her twice, once on white card stock and once on design paper. I only used the dress part of the one I printed on the Design paper and paper pieced it on top of her. I did add some shading with a Copic Markers. The rest of her was coloured as usual with Copics.
The background is a mop up from the gelli plate. I chose this part of the print because it went well with the yellows and greens in her dress and eye.
I added some background stamping with Janet's stamp sets #338 and #404 by AALL & Create. I also added some black paint around the edges.

You'll find 'New Dress' HERE.

This journal page is made with one of the Journal faces. This is an older set. I coloured her and cut her out. I then made a background for her with Distress Oxide inks (Speckled egg and Vintage Photo) and put her on it. I added a crown from the stamp set #412 by Janet via AALL & Create.
I used a piece of inked paper, stamped it with texts (#338) and stamped the crown on it. I then cut it out and added it on her head. The sentiment is made of a Small Talk sticker by Tim Holtz.

I love a crazy hat

 Hello everyone,

welcome to my blog where today I am sharing a card which I made for AALL & Create. One day I sat down at my desk, not really wanting to do anything but to my surprise this card came out and I really love it..

I just starting playing with Dina Wakley's Gloss sprays, more because I thought they wouldn't work anymore as I hadn't used them in ages. So, that's how it began! Here's how I did it:

After I dried the background, I put on this stencil and used white paint to get some interest.

Next, I stamped the background. Now with gloss sprays and any acrylic product it is always a problem to stamp with waterbed inks. It doesn't work because it doesn't dry. I tend to use inks that are the right colour but not necessarily the right type. Here I used Distress Oxide ink because the colour was perfect. To get around the fact it doesn't dry I just heat emboss the stamping with clear powder ! Problem solved. This also works when you used Versafine.

More stamping and more heatembossing.

I made up a new sentiment with two of the sentiments from these sets.

Stamping the main images on white card. I also stamped the cat on the card because the whiskers are too fine to cut out, now I can just cut them off.

Adding some washi tape for the cat to sit on..

I coloured the images with Copic Markers, cut them out and adhered them, together with the sentiment onto my card. I then added the panel to a white card base. I think it turned out really cute.

I have used the following AALL & Create Materials:

Stencil #100 - Nodes by Autour de Mwa
Washi tape #3 - Ponder by Autour de Mwa
Stamps:
#350 - Splattered Numbers by Tracy Evans
#338 - Background Noise by Janet Klein
#408 - Felines by Janet Klein
#284 - Hat Drama by Janet Klein

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio project I have made a journal page and a birthday card.

This journal page was made with the newly released set 'Pancake Day'. I printed her, then coloured and cut her out. The background is a mop up page from the gelli plate. You can just see Janet's 'Tre Fiori' stencil in the background. I added some stamping (set #404 - Visual Ingredients - AALL & Create) and some washi tape by AALL & Create. I then placed her on the page and added the sentiment.

You'll find this pancake baking girl HERE

This birthday card was made with a background from my stash. It is a white heat embossed flower stamp which was then dunked into Distress Oxide Ink. I added a white line around the edge with a paint pen and some washi tape with hearts. The rabbit is from the set 'Two Hares' and I coloured him with Copic Markers and a little pencil after which I cut him out. I love his little socks !
I placed him on the card and added the happy birthday.

Don't look down

 Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog where today I have another project for AALL & Create. It is a journal spread with a VIDEO. I used some of my favourite stamps and stencil and materials. Hope you enjoy watching !

I have some step-by-step photos too:

I started with stamping the image of the flamingo and the sentiment I planned to use. I really love this flamingo and have used him before. Today I coloured him in not-so-flamingo colours though..

He turned orange ! This colour goes better with the background I was planning.

For the background I used this stencil, one of my all time favourites.. I painted the pages, each colour separate, put the stencil on and wiped some of the paint away with a baby wipe. I then added some white paint with a brayer to tidy up the edges of the painted areas.

Next I stamped the background, using colours that are similar to the background.

Next I added some washi tape... and more stamping which you can see in the finished spread. I forgot to take a picture but you can see me do it in the video.

I have used the following AALL & Create materials:

Washi tape:
#1 - Eclipses by Autour de Mwa
#2 - Inspire - by Autour de Mwa

Stencil:
#30 - by Autour de Mwa

Stamps:
#391 - Orchid Cluster by Bipasha Bk
#350 - Splattered Numbers by Tracy Evans
#366 - Roundly by Autour de Mwa
#428 - Charlie  by Janet Klein
#434 - Newsprint Numbers by Olga Heldwein

This week at Vera Lane Studio

 Hello everyone,

Happy New Year and Happy Thursday !

For today's Vera Lane Studio I have made two cards. Here is the first one :

She is new this week and great for birthday cards. She comes with a party hat but I have used that on my second card.
I printed her and the balloons and the sentiment. I coloured the images with Copic Markers and cut them out. The background was made with a round 4" gelli plate and Janet's 'Saturday Morning' stencil. (#118)
I put the stencil on the gelli plate, then dropped some Copic Refill ink on it. I then used a brayer to roll it into the openings of the stencil. Next I took the stencil off and let it dry completely. Next I brayered white paint over the gelli plate in a thin layer and printed. I doodled around the circle after it was dry and put the images onto the card.
You'll find this set called 'Birthday Girl' HERE

The second card:

This card was made with one of the Rescue Puppies. I gave him the party hat from the 'Birthday Girl' set.
He was printed, coloured with Copic Markers and cut out. The background is a stencil print. I used stencil #96 'Dandelion Field' by Janet and added some stamping too with her Stamp set #338 'Background Noise' by AALL & Create. I added some washi tape and placed the dog on top before gluing the hat onto his head. You'll find the Rescue Puppies HERE

Sewing forever, a journal

 Hello everyone,

Happy new year to all of you and thank you for your continuing support! For today's AALL & Create project I have made a journal.

FRONT

BACK

INSIDE

Here's how I made it:

First, I die cut this book and then I applied crackle paste through this stencil. My crackle paste is really old so I have only small crackles.

I coloured the book with pigment powders; I did add a layer of clear gesso first because I used 2 layers of card stock glued together and wasn't sure how the paper would react to lots of water. With a layer of Gesso it was a little protected.

After everything was dry I added some stamping using two stamp sets; this is the first.

this is the second.

I then stamped this lady and coloured her and cut her out:

She is very stylish ! I gave her a (thimble) hat later, just for a bit of fun.

I added some elements of washout tape to my book, stamped the sentiment and gave her the thimble hat. It is the top part of one of the thimbles on the washi tape that i stuck to some light blue paper.

This is how it looks after it was all done.

Next I added designer paper to the inside and a strip of washi tape to the spine. I punched holes in the washi tape where the holes in the paper are so I could thread the elastic for the signatures through them.

Front of the book. I added a little clamp to keep it closed.

Back of the book.

I added three signatures. You could add more if you wanted to. It is a good way of making your own journals as you can chose the paper you put in it.

I have used the following materials:

Washi tape #10 - Fragments by Tracy Evans

Stencil #102 - Secret Stars by Autour de Mwa

Stamps:
#438 - Ephemera Digits by Tracy Evans
#350 - Splattered Numbers by Tracy Evans
#396 - Sewing Forever by Tracy Evans
