Make your mark

 Hello everyone,

Today I have a little decorated notebook to show you. This was lying around on my desk and I though it was a nice little project for a cold and dark afternoon.

Here's how I did it:

First I glued some washi tape on the spine because I didn't want to see the red. I covered it with another layer later because the red still came through.

I used a small gelli plate and this stamp, some Versafine Clair ink and white acrylic paint to make these little backgrounds. The one on the right didn't come out very well so I resorted to stamping the same stamp over the top with the same Versafine Clair Inks.

Next, I stamped the background a little.

I also added some more washi tape ..

I stamped these poppies and cut them out. I used some MM patterned paper that has been in my stash for years..

I cut them out and adhered them to my book covers.

I dug out an older stamp set for the sentiment and stamped it on the same paper.

I added some doodling and some splatters.

and glued the covers to the book.

It turned out ok I think although I don't love it but these things happen...

I used the following AALL & Create products:

Washi tape:
#7 - Winged friends by Tracy Evans
#9 - Cut, Tear, Layer by Tracy Evans
Stamps:
#400 - Numerator by Tracy Evans
#395 - Papaver Poppies by Tracy Evans
#341 - Pen & Ink by Tracy Evans

Garden Journal

Hello everyone,

For this weeks AALL & Create post I have decorated a notebook.

And here's how:

First I added a strip of cotton on the spine, I used fabric glue to attach it, I then gessoed the book and added yellow and green paint with a brayer. I put the stencil on top and wiped away the paint with a baby wipe. This didn't work great so instead I used white paint and dabbed it through the stencil. I did the same thing on the back.

Here's a close up

Next I used a  bunch of stamps to add some interest. I used Distress Oxide inks and Archival ink to stamp.

Next, I stamped this flower and coloured it with my Copic markers.

I found these two words to add, making the book a 'garden journal'.

I added a black mat and glued the flower and the words to the front of the book. I also added some black paint around the edges and some white splatters.

On the back I added a sentiment from Tracy's 'Doodled Blooms' set and that finished the book.

I have used the following AALL & Create materials:

Stencil #85 - Abundance by Olga Heldwein

Stamps:

#109 - Blossomed numbers by Tracy Evans
#140 - Doodled blooms by Tracy Evans
#67 - Vintage assorted by Olga Heldwein
#234 - Brush flower by Tracy Evans
#262 - mesh by Tracy Evans
#235 - All measured up by Tracy Evans

Turned out rather nice I think....

I bought these little notebooks in a department store but I don't like the purple outside so I gave it two coats of gesso....

After it dried I added model paste through a stencil (#22 by Autour de Mwa)

Next is colour... I used blues today.

If you want to know how I made the circles grungy you'll have to watch my YouTube Tutorial...

I created this orange and red background with a gel press plate (watch how in the YouTube Tutorial)

After stamping I cut all the flowers out.

And here is the end result.

and the back...

Both sides at once ! lol

I also added a ribbon to keep the book closed.

I have used the following stamp sets:

#70 Quirky Blossoms by Tracy Evans
#71 Natures Garden by Tracy Evans
