I do like to be beside the seaside

Hello everyone,

and welcome to August ! Today a new challenge starts over at Country View Challenges. They theme is 'I do like to be by the seaside' and was chosen by Christine. I have made a postcard:

And here is how I made it:

I started with a piece of card stock 6" x 4". I should have used watercolour paper or Mixed Media Paper as card stock doesn't really like water. I used Distress Oxide Ink in Tumbled glass, smooshed it on my craft sheet, spritzed with water and dunked my card into it.  This is the sky of my scene.

Here are all the pieces of card I am going to use for my card. The brown will be the beach, the yellow will be the sun, the card with the ink is the base and the blue piece (the only piece I used paints on)  will be used for the sea.

Here is my beach girl, she'll be in the waves that will be created by tearing the blue piece so the core of the paper is visible. She was stamped and coloured with Copic Markers.

Like this. I glued the brown piece to the bottom of the card and the strips of torn, painted card over the top. I placed here in between two layers so it looks like she is in the waves.

I used white paint and a stiff brush to add some more 'foam' to the waves by stippling it on.

And here is the finished card. I added a little background stamping, doodling and a postage stamp; it is a postcard after all !

I hope you will all play along with this fun challenge! Just make sure you follow the RULES !

I will be back soon !

Thank you for stopping by !

  9. Corrie I adore this, the torn papers work so well built up as the layers of sea foam, it's as if your bathing beauty was born to be within your created postcard. Pretty as a picture, many thanks for sharing x
