Imagination rules the world

Hello everyone,

Last week I decided to play along in the 'A layer a day' challenge over at France Papillon's FB page. The theme was 'Here comes the sun" and I must admit I did struggle with this one. In the end I think it all came together though...

This is the result and here is how I made it:

Now, you know how everybody always tells you to not waste anything. I painted some leftover ugly blue paint over these pages and have been looking at them for the past 2 years, I think. Today I decided to use them but because it was so ugly I glued book pages over the top. So, I wonder if it is not better just to throw the leftover paints ! Anyway, I then added a thin layer of DecoArt White Gesso over the pages.

For the second layer I added some DecoArt Sandpaste through France's 'Torned Circle' stencil.

Layer 3: I painted the pages, not the sand paste, with a watered down layer of DecoArt Chalky Finish paint in the colour 'Serene'.

Layer 4: I dug my Pan Pastels out of the depths of my stash because I haven't used them in years.. and then disaster struck. I tried to spray on some fixative but it didn't spray, it dribbled so it made a mess. I managed to save it by spreading it over the page with my fingers.

Layer 5: I did some journaling, some doodling using France's 'Circles' stencil and some splattering.

Layer 6: I added loads of stamping with purple, blue and black Archival inks. I used stamp sets : Perfect Words, 1800 and How shat I put it and I doodled some black lines along the edges. By this point I thought I was finished......

...but I didn't like it that much, it was missing something... So I added a lizard from the 'Creepers and Crawlers' set.

So the blue and purple represents the sky and the half yellow/orange circles are the sun! Yes, you need imagination to see it ! The journaling is just the theme that I wrote a few times going with the curve of the circles. I added the world stamp from the 1800 set and the lizard is just there because, like me, he likes to sit in the sun !

This week at Vera Lane Studio...

Hello everyone,

Happy Thursday ! For today's Vera Lane Studio post I have made a postcard and a mini art journal page. The mini AJ page is so small that you could actually use it for a card but I have sooooo many cards that I have started to glue them into a book.

Here's the postcard:

This is Fairy Bunny, isn't she sweet !

There is beauty in simplicity

Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create post I have made a card. I wondered whether Tracy's fabulous Blossomed Numbers stamp would work on Tim Holtz' Worn Wallpaper so I tried and here is the result:

And here's how :

I started with cutting a piece of the Worn Wallpaper to the size of a card front. I then used a brayer and white acrylic paint to tone down the pattern. You can still see it though; just how I like it. When I was happy I used this stencil #63 and some pale blue paint to add some interest, I toned that down again too in the same way.

Next I stamped some parts of this fabulous stamp by Tracy Evans on the card, using Distress Oxide in Tumbled glass and Archival ink in Jet Black.

Next I stamped one of the flowers and coloured it with watercolours and a water brush.

I also splattered it with this white paint pen, I did the same to the card front.

I added doodling around the edges and added the cut out flower to the card front. A Small talk sticker and a word from the stamp finished it off.

I have used the following stamp and stencil:

#109 - Blossomed Numbers
#63 - Wood Pile

Happy freaking everything !

Hello everyone,

I have made a tag with one of the latest new AALL & Create stamp sets "Moody Kittens.  This particular one cracks me up. He sure looks moody !

And here's how I made it:

I painted the tag with green and yellow acrylic paints using a brayer. After it was dry I rolled over turquoise in the same way, put the stencil on it and wiped some of the wet paint away through the stencil. I then took the stencil off and wiped away some more until I was happy with the result.

Next I brayered over some white acrylic paint and stamped the background here and there. I chose the 234rd of March to stamp because that is when I plan for this to go live...

Next the moody cat. I stamped him on white card stock and on the tag too. I coloured him with my Copic Markers.

Ready for cutting out...

Here is the finished tag again; I glued the cat on the tag over the top of the one I stamped directly. I did place some washi tape under him so he has something to stand on. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

I have used :

Stencil #30
Stamp set #171 - Moody Kittens
Stamp set #107 - Date it

Explore the world..

Hello everyone,

Welcome to this Friday's blogpost for Katzelkraft. I have made a card for today. I have used one of the birds of the 'les piafs' set which is an older set.

This card was very simple to make. I started with the white embossed sentiment. When that was done I smooshed Distress Oxide Ink on my craft sheet and dipped the card panel into it, drying in between layers, until I was happy. I used : Mustard seed and Broken China. I then stamped the bird, coloured him with Copic Markers and cut him out, and glueing him to the panel as if he were standing on the sentiment. Lastly I added white splatters and a white line along the edges.

I have used the following stamps:

Be Happy

Hello everyone,

I was asked by Abs to make some samples with the new release stamps for the AALL & Create Hochanda shows ! Of course I couldn't say no to that !

This is the last of 6 samples I made and it is a postcard:

I really like making vintage things as well so that is what I did. Unfortunately I got carried away and forgot to take WIP photos....

I started with a piece of Mixed media paper and used Distress Oxides in Ground Espresso and Antique linen smooshed onto my craft sheet and dipped the card in it until I was happy.
I did some stamping with the same Ground Espresso and then took Crushed Olive and used it to rub over the Lushy Leafy stencil and printed it on the card.
I also used that to colour the Lady bug, the sentiment (Both stamped on book pages) and the edges of the card.
I doodled around the edges with a pencil.

I have used the following AALL & Create materials:

Stamp #161  Ladybug
Stamp #142 Edison Game
Stamp set #125 For the Record
Stencil #80 Lushy Leafy

Bloom love grow

Hello everyone,

I was asked by Abs to make some samples with the new release stamps for the AALL & Create Hochanda shows ! Of course I couldn't say no to that !

This one is a 6 x 6 panel which I love making !

and here's how:

I used a brayer and two shades of blue acrylic paint to get some colour on this panel which is cut from Mixed Media paper. I added some stamping, partly with blue Archival ink and partly with white paint. Just make sure to clean your stamps straight away !

Next I added some stencilling. I used VersaMark ink and this fab embossing powder by Seth Apter.

I then added some more stamping with Orange Distress Oxide ink and added the silhouette with modelling paste.

Next I stamped some flowers and made a sentiment from some of the words of this fab stamp set by Tracy !

I coloured the flowers with Copic markers and added some orange on the sentiment. I didn't use this in the end because it was much whiter than the silhouette so I found some paper that was about the same shade of white and matted it on black card stock.

I have used the following AALL & Create materials:

Stamp #161  Ladybug
Stamp set #140 Doodled blooms
Stencil #80 Lushy Leafy
Stencil #75 Illusion

Normal is an illusion

Hello everyone,

I was asked by Abs to make some samples with the new release stamps for the AALL & Create Hochanda shows ! Of course I couldn't say no to that !

This is an art journal page. Of course you can make this in a journal....

and here's how:

I used a brayer and a piece of Mixed media paper to get some colour on the paper, green and yellow acrylic paint in this case. I then stencilled the tree rings on it using blue acrylic paint.

Next I did some background stamping, brayered white paint over it and added the silhouette stencil to my paper. I used Graphite paste for that. It has tiny little bits of glitter in it.

Next I used modelling paste for the sentiment that is on this stencil.

I stamped another sentiment and a pointing finger to add... but was not happy with the model paste words...

... so I decided to use a pink paint pen and colour them. I added the other sentiment on the top and added some doodling along some of the edges.

I have used the following AALL & Create materials:

Stamp #161  Ladybug
Stamp set #125 For the record
Stencil #63 Wood pile
Stencil #75 Illusion
