Trust your own madness

Hello everyone,

It is my turn over at Visible Image today ! I made a simple card to give you some inspiration.

I painted a piece of water colour paper and let it drip. I applied several layers to get the intensity I was looking for. Once it was to my liking and all dry I stamped the sentiment on it. I love this one because it is so true !
Next I used a mug and some white paint to add some white circles around the sentiment. Where it went over the letters I just used a black marker to remove the white.
I adhered the panel to a black mat, after I ironed it !! This water colour was fairly thin and warped something awful ! Anyway, I then adhered the whole thing to a white card.

I used this stamp:

Just a quick post to announce the winner of the Christmas giveaway...

Gay, please PM me your address and I will pop them in the post for you !

January

Hello everyone,

I was really exited when Sara Vukson from 100 Proof Press asked me if I was interested in doing some design work for her. Of course I couldn't say no ! It is a great honour to be asked I think !
100 Proof Press has been in existence since 1980 ! In December of 2010 Sara Vukson purshased the company and moved it to the present location in St. Paris Ohio. Their catalog contains over 2500 timeless images, finely detailed and visually diverse.

Anyway, I will be doing some projects for her in the month of February so watch this space !

Besides  the lovely rubber stamps she sent met for this job, she also sent me a calendar for 2017, one of those you can decorate yourself and I will do one page every month. This is January's and I know it is a little late but from next month I will post around the 5th of the month..

Here's page one : January:

and here's how I made this:

I coloured a piece of card stock with Distress Inks and a blending tool. I used Broken China, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, Dusty Concord and a little bit of Black Soot. Keep adding colour and keep blending until you are happy with the result.

I used water and a stencil to create snowflakes and also splattered some water on it but I didn't really think it was white enough so I repeated the process using paint and the same stencil in a few places on the paper.

Here are the snowflakes and now they are nice and white; I added some stamping too using Distress Inks and Archival ink. With a black pen I drew a line around the edge of the paper panel.

I like how this man looks totally appalled ! lol I cut a circle from white card stock and stamped it with a background stamp. The man was stamped with Memento Ink and coloured with Copic Markers. I cut him out and adhered him to the circle.
The sentiment I used was something I saw on the internet, I just typed it on my old trusty typewriter, cut it into strips and adhered it onto the panel. I used my black pen again to doodle around the word strips.

It was then time to put everything together...

And this is what it looks like all finished. Neat eh?

I have used the following 100 Proof Press Stamps:

Ugh...

Hello everyone,

and welcome to another blogpost. It is 'Word Up Weekend' (this is all about promoting word and phrases stamps) again at Stampotique and I have a little something to share too today. It is just a panel and could be used as a mini art journal or it could be a card panel..

I have used Marsha here and she feels a little disgusted I think ! lol...
The base is another one of my never ending pile of gelli prints. It is time I got through them so I can make some more ! Marsha was stamped with Archival ink and coloured with Zig Real Brush water colour markers.

I used the following stamps for this :

Phrase cube (which has 4 phrases)

A card for fun

Hello everyone,

Today I am sharing a card that I made just for fun. I don't make many cards but occasionally I do make some as I need them for sending with ATC's and tags in swaps. This one will go in my card box for just that reason.

This one was quite quick because I used a gelli printed piece of paper. I just added some stamping and white embossing. I also splattered some white paint on it. The girl is called "I'm cold" and was stamped and coloured with Copic Markers, cut out and adhered on top of some washi tape. The sentiment is made from Tim Holtz chit chat stickers. (I think that is what they are called)

I used the following stamps:

La de frickin' dah!

Hello everyone,

Today starts the second week of the latest  Challenge (#265)  at the Stampotique Designers' blog. The them is "Your favourite stamp". Now that is a real problem for me because I don't have ONE favourite stamp but many !

For today I chose the Flamingo again as I am really obsessed with him/her.

Why not chose YOUR favourite stamp and play along with us. Just remember to read the rules first. There are two $30 vouchers to be won at the end of the month.

The background is watercoloured. On top is a doily made with a stencil and some clear crackle paste. I didn't really like it that much so I went over it with white acrylic paint on a sponge. This made it stand out a little better. I stamped the background too with what is probably my favourite background stamp. It is called "fax to Wolfgang". I stamped the Flamingo on watercolour paper and coloured him/her in the same colours as I had used for the background, cut him out and adhered him to the page. I did stamp the water bit at the bottom on the page as well so I could cut it off the one I stamped seperately. Lastly I stamped the sentiment, adhered it to the page and added some music paper to the left side.

I used the following stamps:

Hello everyone,

Every weekend we celebrate the quote and word stamps by Stampotique Originals and today I have made a mini art journal page.

I have used a gelli print as a background and added some stamping and heat embossing to it.
"Heart Shir"t was stamped on white card stock, coloured with Copic Markers, cut out and adhered to the page. The sentiment was stamped on white card stock too and cut apart, adhered to the page and doodled around. Lastly I added some black lines around the edges of the page.

Published again !

Hello everyone,

I was so happy to hear that I was published in Stampers' Sampler again. Every time this happens I have to pinch myself to make sure it is true !

The first thing was an envelope I sent with a set of cards in it.

Then there was this card :

This is a really old one ! I am amazed they still had this one...

And finally a series of cards with Stapotique's Pedro in the spotlight :

Stampotique Designers' Challenge #265 - Favourite Stamp

Hello everyone,

It is week two of the 'use your favourite stamp' Challenge at Stampotique. As I mentioned before I have many favourites. But my favourite designer is Daniel Torrente, yes, him from the funny looking people ! Lol So I decided to use one of his stamps.

The base is a gelli print on which I randomly stamped a few of my background favourites. I also love circles so I have used a few on this page. The bit ones were white embossed. I stamped the main figure called "Lovely are the sound" on the page and on white card stock. I stamped the middel part (where the heart is) in pink because it is almost solid and I didn't want it to be black. So I coloured the hands and the heart, cut them out and adhered them over the top. I did the same with the head, body and wings.
After doodling around the page I added the sentiment and doodled around that. That finished the page.
Why not play along with us this week; you might just win one of two $30 vouchers at the end of the month. Just remember to read the rules on the SDC blog.

Dare to be different !

Hello everyone,

For today's post for Visible Image I have made a card.

I used a gelli printed background. I think this one was from mopping up leftover paints from the plate. I added the white circles by stamping with VersaMark and white embossing. I also added some black splatters by diluting black acrylic paint with water and using a round paintbrush to splatter; I just tap it onto another brush or pen to make the paint come out in splatters.
I then stamped the sentiment and stamped the cat on top of it. This is really easy as the stamps are clear and you can see what you are doing. I then stamped the cat again on white card stock and coloured her (I added eyelashes to make her a girl) with Copic Markers, cut her out and adhered her on top of the one on the card. I then glued the panel onto a white card base.

I used the following stamps:

Not all who wander are lost

Hello everyone,

I have another post for UmWow Studio today. I did so enjoy making this and I love how it turned out..

I have made a mini art journal page and this is what it looks like :

The background was brayered with acrylic paints  The big black circle was made with a coffee mug. I used the rim...and yes I washed it and I am now using it for coffee again ! I painted the inside of the circle with white paint and then stamped with a variety of rubber stamps by VivaLasVegaStamps!

The chipboard I used was treated like this :

This is what it looks like when you take it out of it's package.

I painted it with gesso, twice....

I coloured it with water colours (Prima confections) and added some details with pencils...

This is how it looks all coloured..

I added a layer of clear embossing powder over the top to protect the colours.

This gnome stamp by VivaLasVegaStamps! is normally holding an umbrella but I just left that out and replaced it with the flower...

How cute is he ???

And here is the finished project again !

I have used the flower on the left of this picture... this is a great set !

What to do with a Cheese Board ??? A wallhanging for Country View Challenges

Hello everyone,

Today I have a nice little project to share with you. Well I think it is nice.... lol. I got a wooden board with some delicious pieces of cheese on it for Christmas and you know these things always end up cluttering your cupboards when you have finished with the cheese. So I thought I'd turn it into a wallhanging...  I filmed the process and hope you will hop over and have a look. I have to apologise for the shaky footage here and there. It seems my camera cannot deal with me moving and there is no solution for this as far as I know. Hope you don't get seasick !!! lol

I made this as an inspiration piece for the "Anything Goes" Challenge over at Country View Challenges. Why not play along with us and you could win a GBP 20,-- voucher to the shop !

Here is the link to YouTube ! If you like my Videos please SUBSCRIBE to my channel. I really appreciate it !

No matter how long the winter..

Hello everyone,

and welcome to the second week of the 'anything goes' challenge at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog. I have made a postcard this week. You can still play along with us and we would love it if you did. You could win one of two $30 vouchers to the shop at the end of the month. Just make sure to read the rules on the SDC blog.

As some of you perhaps know, I really do not like winter. I hate the cold and love the warm summer weather a lot more. So that is why I made this card:

Here's how I made it. I cut a piece of white card stock to size and then used the 'Baroque Background' stamp and Versamark ink to stamp it twice. It fills the card front. I then heat embossed it with fine white WOW embossing powder. Next I sprayed some dark blue Lindy's ink on my craft mat and dragged the paper through it. I think the result is great.
Next I stamped 'Winter' and coloured her with Zig Clean Color Brush Markers and a water brush. I used watercolour paper for this. After I finished colouring I cut her out. I also stamped her on the card but when I put her down I thought she didn't stand out enough. So I painted a little white paint on the spot where she was going to go, re-stamped her and adhered her on top. I added some washi tape under her to 'ground' her. I fount the sentiment on the internet and typed it up on my old typewriter, cut it into strips and added some colour. I then adhered the strips to the card.
That was it !

I used only two stamps for my postcard:

Sparkle in the rain

Hello everyone,

Today I am sharing an art journal spread which I made for Visible Image.

I made this on two separate pages that I later glued in my journal. Sometimes it is better to work out of the book especially when you are heat embossing. I have had paint on previous pages bubble up when I put the heat gun on the page I was doing. So by using loose paper you don't run this risk.

The colour of these pages was put on by brayering 4 colours of PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk paints. I used two shades of green; a light and a dark, a turquoise and a plum colour.  Just start with the lightest and build up the colour. Make sure to have some white page left after every colour to fill with the next. You also could use white to reintroduce white space. After the paint dried, which takes no time at all I stamped the background with similar colours of ink. I added some holographic embossing powder over the plum 'sparkles', and sparkle they do !

I also stamped the word 'sparkle' and embossed it with white fine embossing powder by WOW.

I changed the sentiment by stamping bits of it, straight on the page and adding some doodling around the words.
The girl with the brolly was stamped straight on the page and on a separate piece of paper, cut out and adhered on top. I coloured some paper in the same colours as I used for stamping the background and used a hole puncher to get some polkadots for the brolly. I glued these on and added some white doodling on the umbrella. A few doodle lines around the pages finished it off.

I heat embossed the 'sparkles' with holographic embossing powder over the plum coloured ink. You can see the sparkle here...

and some more here, so pretty !

The sentiment.

And the finished pages again.

Goody, goody gumdrops!

Hello everyone,

Over at Stampotique it is 'Word Up' weekend and I made a quick journal page for this.

The background is made with watercolours and a doily stencil over top. I did do a little background stamping but not much. I added some white splatters and then I stamped Uncle Buck on white card stock, coloured him with Copic Markers and cut him out. I adhered him to my page after I put some washi tape down for him to stand on. The sentiment I am showcasing is one of my favourites !

I have used the following stamps:
