Well behaved women..

Hi everyone,

For my second January post for VivaLasVegaStamps! I have made an artjournal spread.

Here's how:

First I applied Distress Oxide inks over gessoed pages. I used pieces of cut and dry foam for this but you could also use a blending tool or blending brushes.

Next I placed a stencil over the top and rubbed the ink with a dry piece of kitchen towel. I wanted it lighter  but not white. If I had used a baby wipe it would have taken all the ink off.

Next I stamped the background randomly with the same Oxide inks,  a Versafine black and a grey StaZon. No reason for the inks apart from them being within reach or the colour I wanted.

I forgot to take a picture when I was colouring, but you get the idea. I stamped the naughty lady and the gentleman and coloured them with my Copic Markers and cut them out. I added some washitape to the page to stand them on and glued them down. The sentiment was stamped on white card stock, cut into strips and adhered on the other page. I then doodled around the strips with a black pen.

I have used the following stamps:

Other materials:
Distress Oxide inks:
Broken China
Peacock Feathers
Twisted Citron
Mustard Seed
Carved Pumpkin
Worn Lipstick

Versafine Onyx Black
StaZon Dove grey
Gesso
Copic markers
Black pen

Stop wars

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my first December post for VivaLasVegaStamps! Today I have an artjournal page to show you.

The background is a gel printed piece of paper from my stash. I randomly stamped it with Distress Oxide inks, black VersaFine and some grey StaZon. I stamped the Stormtrooper and Toto on my page and on some watercolour paper. After colouring the images with watercolours and som coloured pencils I cut them out and arranged them on my page. I added some colour under his brush and some shading under their feet. A border drawn with a graphite pencil finished it off.

I have used the following stamps:

Other materials:
A gel printed background from my stash
Distress Oxide Inks
StaZon ink
Versafine Ink
Watercolour paints
coloured pencils
graphite pencil

An art journal page for AALL & Create

Hello everyone,

For this weeks Guest Design team post I have made an art journal page. You might have already seen this on Hochanda but today I am sharing it here; there is also a video if you'd like to see how this came together.

I love how this turned out and it was a joy to make.

Here's how : (Link to video below the photos)

First I stamped the bicycle on acetate and cut it out, I used StaZon for this.

I added acrylic paint to the page and then stamped both stamps partially on it.

I also stamped some of the images or parts of them separately to colour, cut out and layer on my page.

I used this stencil to print with Distress Oxides.

Here is the finished project again.

If you'd like to see the whole process then click HERE or on the pic below:

I have used :
Stamp #228 - Postbox and Phonelines by Bipasha BK
Stencil #38  by Bipasha BK

Grow, bloom

Hello everyone,

For today's AALL & Create Guest Design team project I have made a card. It is very much inspired by the lovely Tracy Evans but I hope there is some of me in there too.

Here's how:

I made a gel print with acrylic paints and stencil #63

Next I stamped these flowers on a piece of also gel printed paper.

I toned down the background with white paint and a brayer and I then added stamping and stencilling  using a variety of inks. I used modelling paste with the stencil.

I then stamped the words I wanted to use and cut them out. I inked the edges with Distress Oxide Ink in Broken China.

I layered the three flowers and stamped a stem from a different bloom from the same set.

I think it turned out lovely !

I used the following stamps:

#210 Background Mash up by Tracy Evans
#70 Quirky blossoms by Tracy Evans

Stencils:
#39 Lotza Dotz by Autour de Mwa
#63 Wood Pile by Autour de Maw

Mister Weirdo

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the VLVS! blog where today I am sharing a journal page that I did. I must have been in a really strange mood because it definitely turned out weird !

This page was made on a mop up page from the gel press plate. They sometimes turn out better than the proper prints. Anyway, I added some stamping with Distress Oxide inks, and a light grey Stazon. Later on I added the black stamping with a VersaFine Clair ink pad.

I stamped the focal image in book paper and tore the edges. I have been intrigued by this image for years and finally ordered it ! I also looked up what Creanciers means (the name of the stamp). Turns out it means creditors but in this case it was a play written by August Strindberg and it is his face on this stamp.

I decided to call him Mister Weirdo and place a griffon peeking out from behind his shoulder. Can it get any weirder ! lol

Here is a close up of all the stamping. I love cluster stamping, it adds so much interest.

I have used the following stamps :

Other materials :
A gelli print from my stash
Distress Oxide Inks:
Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint
StaZon :
Dove Gray
Versafine Clair:
Nocturne
Bookpaper
a black pen

She flies with her own wings

Hello everybody,

Today I am sharing a mini art journal spread for VivaLasVegaStamps!  It took some time to make this because I started with totally different colours, decided I didn't like it and had to paint it over ! Oh well, happens sometimes doesn't it.

I painted the pages with 2 shades of green, a blue and a purple acrylic paint. I used Amsterdam but you could of course use whatever you have. I did mix in a little white here and there to get a gradient.
I stamped the circles with white paint. Normally I would use VersaMark ink and white embossing powder but I didn't want to heat up the left page too much as I was afraid for the paint on the other side to bubble...

Next I stamped the typewriter keys with black ink. I always think you have to have black and white on your pages. The face was stamped on photo paper with StaZon; I don't know why I did that because card stock and Archival would have worked just as well.

I also stamped the sentiment several times on a piece of paper which I then punched circles off. I was going to use it as it was but decided to colour them the same as the background because they stood out to much.
I adhered everything else to the page and added some thread under the face and that was it !

Here's a detail of the stamped image with white paint. It looks totally different to when you use ink or embossing powder.

Here's a detail of this lovely face.

I used the following stamps for these pages:

Live in the moment

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blog and this post for Visible Image. I decided to do an art journal for this post and this is what it looks like :

These pages were started by painting 2 layers of Gesso. When this had dried I applied some model paste through a Tim Holtz stencil. Next I used 3 different colours of Lindy's Spray Inks, 2 blue and 1 green) and sprayed them mainly over the model paste.  I let it drip towards the spine of the book. I also added some drips over the whiter part of the pages for some more interest.

Next I stamped one of the 'Scratch the surface' stamps 3 times right over the model paste on each side. I used VersaMark for this and then used a white WOW embossing powder and melted it with the heat gun. These were the 'platforms' for the dragonflies to sit on.

Around the areas of colour I stamped one of the stamps from the 'orbital' set with dark blue Archival Ink. The dragon flies were stamped on white card stock with StaZon ink and then painted with Silks. These are very translucent so you'll still see the stamped lined. I added holographic embossing powder over the wings and clear powder over the bodies of the dragon flies and heat embossed. I think they look absolutely fabulous !
The were then cut out and glued down on their little platforms... the wings were left unglued.

A detail of the dragon fly. Love all the sparkle !

Cheval

Hello everyone,

a short post from me today.. As I was messing about with alcohol inks, I thought of the technique that Diny Sprakel has developed where you use your Copic Markers with stamps and an activator spray. I thought I should work with the Alcohol that you use with alcohol inks and it did.
So I made a quick card....

Stamps are by Katzelkraft...
