Dare to be different

For this week's blogpost for AALL & Create I have made a trio of ATC's.

And here's how I made it :

I used a piece of watercolour paper for the ATC's. I cut it into cards after I coloured it with Distress Inks and added some Texture paste through a stencil. 

Here is the coloured card for the ATC's. I also made a base from card board, book pages and ink to mount the finished ATC's on. 

This lovely butterfly is going to be my focal point. I coloured it with the same Distress Oxides and a water brush. I glued the book paper onto some card stock before colouring and cutting it out to make it more sturdy. 

I added some stamping to the cards and here you can just see the texture paste I used. It is transparent but it gives a nice detail to the cards. 

Here you see everything finished. I used more book text and ribbon to add interest and I also used some metal wire behind the butterfly. 

Behind the cards on the board is a piece of silk, again to add interest.

and welcome to my weekly Katzelkraft post. I have made a postcard this time.

The background was made with alcohol inks. I just put them on some Yupo paper and then put some blending solution over the top and blew the colours around using a straw. 

When the ink had mostly dried I added some foil in gold. It sticks to the bits that haven't quite dried and the effect is great I think. You can see it better in the photo below. 

Next I stamped the dog, the balloon and the string. The balloon and the dog were stamped both on the card and on white card stock, the string just on the card. I coloured the images with Copic markers, cut them out and adhered them to the card. 

The sentiment is a very old rub on from Tim Holtz. I was amazed it still worked ! lol 

I also added some 'ground' under the dog with a marker and that finished the postcard.

Fleur fairies

For today's Vera Lane Studio inspiration post, I have an art journal spread and a postcard to share.

The pages were painted with Acrylic paint and a brayer, I used 2 tones of yellow and a green. Next I did some stamping over the top. I resized, printed, coloured and cut out the Fleur Fairies and the text and adhered them onto the page. 

This postcard was made with a gelli print from my stash. I resized, printed, coloured and cut out the Fairy and the sentiment and adhered them to the postcard..

I have an art journal to share today.

This AJ page started off with brayering yellow and orange paint in my journal. I then added some stamping in the background. Next I stamped the stars on the page; I wanted to have the writing around them too and this is impossible to cut out. 

Next I painted a piece of card stock with turquoise paint, stamped the stars on it again, added some white pen details and splatters and cut them out. 

I then adhered them to the ones on the page. 

The girl with wings was stamped separately on white card stock, coloured with Coopic Markers and cut out. I placed her on one of the stars. 

The sentiment is a Small Talk Sticker by Tim Holtz.

The garden

Welcome to my blogpost where today I am showing you a little book I made for AALL & Create.
I like making little books and this one could be a journal for the garden. Maybe note the birds you see through the months, or which flowers flower when.
Anyway, here it is :

And here's how I made it :

I started with one sheet of 12 x 12 paper which I folded and glued into a book... (if you are interested in this; there are lots of tutorials on YouTube about how to make a book like this and others)

When I finished folding and it was glued together, I glued a piece of fabric to the outside.. 

The next step is painting gesso sloppily all on the cover and the pages. You still want to see the original paper here and there. 

I then used this fab stencil by Kasse (#27) and a Lindy's Stampgang Spray to add interest and colour to the cover. I did this front and back. 

Here are the stamps I used to finish the project. The flowers were stamped on the cover and on a separate piece of paper and coloured and cut out. I then glued the coloured ones over the top. 

Here it is in all its glory! 

The inside pages were coloured with Lindy's Stampgang sprays and stamped with the Date it set. The flowers were stamped, I then took off the background colour with a water brush and re-coloured with watercolour markers.

A very wonderful place... & a video

It is the first of the month so it is time for a new challenge over at Country View Challenges. If you play along with us you could win £20 to spend in the shop ! How cool is that. Just remember to read the RULES before entering. The theme this month was chosen by Jane and it is "The Summer garden".
I have made an art journal page.

I started with heat embossing the flowers (Visible Image) with white WOW embossing powder, then put the colour over the top using a blending tool and Distress Oxide Inks. I stamped and splattered a little and then added the kids, butterflies and text stickers. 

This was a very simple page and easy to replicate if you'd like. I have filmed the process:
