More mail art....

Hello everyone,

and happy New Year to you !

Over at VivaLasVegaStamps! we are totally smitten with mail art. So I thought I'd share this envelope with you. I made this for a swap with a friend. I hope she has got it by now and this doesn't spoil the surprise !

Here's the front and the back.

I coloured the envelope by brayering it with blue, green and white acrylic paint until I was happy with the result. I then stamped it with a great variety of VLVS! Stamps using different colours (similar to the paint colours and grey and black) of Archival Ink. And that was it, really.

I used the following stamps:

Thank you for stopping by today !

  1. Corrie, I noticed there is no warping/buckling of the envelope which I find can sometimes happen with paint application. I'm wondering if using a brayer for application helps eradicate this problem.
The colours are so "fresh" with the brilliant use of stamps, that's some collection appearing on this art.

    1. You are right Lynne, the use of a brayer helps keeping the envelope flat as the layers are very thin... ie. fairly dry.. Glad you like it !

  2. I was kinda hooked on mail art before but when Tera started showing her stuff on VLVS I REALLY got hooked. Didn't think it was possible, but now I'm even more hooked! Wonderful envie, Corrie.

  4. I think this is something I need to try! Why send mail in a plain white envie?! I love this idea!

  6. Lekker heldere kleur (die moet opvallen in de post...) Weet niet waarom, maar doet me aan mannenpost denken... Groetjes, Gerrina

  7. Gorgeous - wonderful colour and stamping. I've just found some old envelopes in a box, so I'm very tempted to go and play, though there are other things I ought to be doing.

  9. Love your color palette here, Corrie--very festive! Why am I not seeing brayer lines? Inquiring minds want to know. I just can't seem to get rid of them in my projects. Great combination of stamps, too!

    1. Hi Kay, the secret is very little paint and rolling very lightly. Have a look at the PaperArtsy you tube channel. There are some videos of making masterboards using paint & brayer. Mwah! Corrie x
