Sparkle in the rain

Hello everyone,

Today, for my DT post for Visible Image, I have decorated one of the brand new Free Standing Monoliths with one of the brand new stamp sets. Oh, and I have used a few stamps or an older set too. The monoliths are a super product and such fun to decorate.

This is the front ...

And here is the back.

I started with painting the monolith with gesso. I applied two coats. Next I painted the front and back with Dina Wakley acrylic paints. I used my fingers for the front and for the little stand and a brush for the back. With a polka dot stencil I added some dots with the same colours on the front and with white paint on the front and the back. Next I used a script stamp and grey Archival ink to add some interest. I also stamped a swirl on the back using pink acrylic paint. This works really well, just make sure you wash your stamps straight away so the paint doesn't dry on it. I had already stamped the girl on some tissue paper and after I cut her out I adhered her to the front with gel medium. I went around the image with a white gel pen to make her stand out a little more. Next I stamped the sentiment with black Archival ink directly on the front and added some white dots to the word sparkle.
I also added the sentiment to the back but used VersaMark and white embossing powder. Lastly I drew a few lines around all the elements and coloured the edges with a black Big Brush Marker and that was that !

  2. Wow - fabulous rainbow of colours and the silhouette really pops. I love the idea of the free-standing monolith too - what a great substrate to create on and then display your artwork.

  5. Love that silhouette image, Corrie! And, of course, she is perfectly paired with the text stamp. I think the monolith provides a great substrate for smaller works and I love that it has its own stand!! Great DT piece, my friend!
