All roads lead to the ocean !

Hello fellow Crafters,

I got some new Stampotique stamps and decided to do an art journal page with Hazel. She is disguised as a mermaid on this occasion !

I started with painting my page with turquoise paint. I then dry brushed it with white here and there. Next I tore some patterned paper for the sand and glued it down; I also drew and cut out some more stones and added some colour with copics, I then glued this down. I forgot to mention that I stamped the stone and the tail from the mermaid onto the patterned paper. Next I stamped the leaves onto the page and onto white card stock, also the mermaid and the sentiment, both on white card stock. I coloured everything, clear embossed it and cut it out. I glued the mermaid to her stone, the leaves onto their counterparts on the page and the sentiment in-between. I doodled around the sentiment with black and white and created the bubbles with black and white pens as well. I used a big brush Pitt Pen to add some shading to everything. That was it !
I used the following Stampotique Stamps:

Love birds

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today's hostess is Kim and her theme is : Anniversary/love..... Why not have a look at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog and have a go as well. There is $30,- worth of Stampotique stamps to win at the end of the month. Only rules : No digi's and only one entry per person. Of course we love to see some Stampotique stamps in your project !
Here's mine :

I made a postcard. I started with glueing some pattern paper to a postcard base and then did a bit of background stamping and stencilling. I also dripped some white ink on it. Next I doodled the lines around the outside.  I then stamped the Love Stamp and decided to keep it simple with only 3 colours, black, white and a bit of red. I cut the individual letters out and placed them horizontally. The original stamp is a stack of letters. Next I stamped the birds and I only used two of this stamp. I coloured them, cut them out, clear embossed them and glued them in place. I then glued the "Love" underneath. I drew their legs and had to redesign their eyeballs as they are looking up in the original stamp. I also re-stamped Daniels Hearts because I wanted one single heart to sit above the birds' heads. I suppose that was it !
I used the following Stampotique stamps :

A horse is a horse....

Hello fellow Crafters,

I couldn't resist to play with my new stamps today. So here is the first of (hopefully) lots of projects with them. For this postcard I used Roc's fabulous 'horse'.  Isn't he cute ??

I painted the background turquoise and glued some pattern paper on it. I stamped the 'scalloped lace border' on some painted watercolour paper and cut it out. Next I glued some bits of it on the card. I stamped 'horse' on white card, coloured him, clear embossed him and cut him out. I adhered him to the card. Lastly I handwrote the sentiment which is of course from Mr. Ed which I used to watch as a child....

Don't look back... and life is a circus

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today I did two art journals for the Round Robin via de Craftorij. The first one is for Petra de Kok and this is what I made :

The background is a gelli print and I started with my brand new stamps from Stampotique : Journey collage for the background and Rear View Mirror, which is the lady. I stamped her on book text and glued her on the page on top of some washi tape. I used my bottle top for the rings, splattered some ink on the page and used some rub ons. The sentiment was made with sticky letters on the margin of the book text I used. Lastly I drew a line around the page. That was it !

The second on I made today is for Anne Veldhuijzen. It is called : Life is a circus and here it is :

I started this with painting the pages a light yellow and then I cut circles out of a gelli print. I glued the circles on my page and then took my water-soluble crayons and shaded the edges of the circles and the edges of the page. I did some random stamping and then stamped the dogs (Lost Coast Designs)  on book text and cut them out. I adhered them to the circles. Lastly I stamped the tickets and stapled them to the left hand side of the page and used a stamp which resembles stitches to the edges of the page.

Keep me in your heart...

Hello fellow Crafters,

It's Wednesday again ! Today is is Gez' turn to host the Challenge over at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge Blog and she chose the theme : Sentimental phrases or words. This is what she said :

"Hi Gez here, I am delighted to be your hostess for this challenge.. I love sentiments and sayings, they really say it all to me! They make a piece finished! I'd like you to share some of your favourite words with us this week! They can be a main focal point or an embellishment, it's your choice! Say it with words..."

Why not hop over and have a go yourself. You could win a $30,- gift certificate for those lovely stamps. Just no digs and only one entry per person. Also, it would be nice if you used a Stampotique stamp !

I made an art journal :

The background was made with Pan Pastels in pink. I used a background stamp and my trusty cookie cutter to give the background some more interest. I also used a bit of sequin waste and white ink to stencil the white blocks. I then stamped the hearts on a bit of old book paper and cut them out, adhered them on the page with gel medium and gave them a bit of shading with a Big Brush Artist pen. Next I stamped Heartshirt on white card stock, coloured him with Copic Markers, cut him out and adhered him too with gel medium. I then printed the sentiment which is from Winnie de Pooh and adhered it to the hearts. Lastly I doodled around the page with a black and white pen and that was it.
I used the following Stampotique Stamps :

Bleach blocking

Hello fellow Crafters,

I was intrigued by this technique over at the Craft Stamper Challenge blog. So I thought I give it a go and make a postcard to enter into the June Challenge. And here it is :

I used Distress Inks for the background and a Pan Pastel Sponge and some water to bleach out the little blocks. I recently bought these stamps (Stampingback) which have a Paris theme and I thought it would be nice to use them on this card. I also used some white ink for splattering and I coloured the lady with Copic Markers.  Lastly I drew a line around the card with a black marker. That was it !

Stampotique ATC swap May/June

Hello fellow Crafters,

For the May/June ATC swap Nikki chose the theme : 'Stamp it'. The ATC had to have a real postage stamp on it. I must say I had more trouble then I thought with this; I made an ATC and didn't love it so I made another one and then I couldn't chose which one to use. That's when I decided to send both of them and let the recipient decide which one was the nicest. I also enclosed a bonus ATC for everyone which is non-Stampotique this time...

This set was sent to : Maxine Hole

The same ATC's were sent to Valerie Wilson with this card:

Lastly I sent his card to Nikki as a thank you for organising the swap, also with the same ATC's:

A heart is not judged....

Hello fellow Crafters,

I am having a great day at Stamping HQ today. I made another Wizard of Oz page in my art journal using the Tin man:

I used a gelli print for the background and over the top of that I did some stamping and stencilling.
Also used my White Linen Dylusions to splatter some white drips on it. Next I used my trusty bottle top and some india ink to accentuate a few of the blue circles in the gelli print. I then stamped the flying heart on turquoise card stock; happened to be the same colour as the paint I used on the gelli print. I used a Copic Marker to colour the little hearts and around the edges. The tinman was stamped on silver card stock. I added some shading and stamped the handle of the axe on brown card stock and his heart on some more gelli print in the same pink as the background. I then cut him out and glued him on some washi tape. I decided to hand write the sentiment which is of course, from the Wizard of Oz.

Here is a close up from the tin man, he really does look like metal, shame the picture doesn't do it any justice !

I used the following stamps by Stampotique Originals :

Craftorij Zomer Challenge day 11 - 15

Hello fellow Crafters,

Another 5 days have past so I have another 5 postcards to show you. I am really enjoying this challenge, I just hope I can keep it up especially with the holidays coming up. I suppose I will just have to pack an extra suitcase !!

Day 11 - the alphabet

Day 12 - Kliederen which is difficult to translate but I suppose it means something like 'Make a mess'. I fingerpainted the background, that was messy enough for me!

Day 13 - Flowers

Day 14 - Games

Day 15 - Circles

Thanks for stopping by !

Hope you like them....

Proof of fun

Hello fellow Crafters,

I had a piece of paper lying around which I used to mop up some leftover paint. I liked it and thought I'd use it to make a postcard. Here it is :

I started with stamping the banner on the card and onto pink pattern paper. I did some shading on this and coloured the dots yellow by first colouring them with a white paint pen and then going over this with a yellow Big brush Pitt pen. I then adhered the little flags on top of the stamped image on the card. This way you get all the little details of the stamp.
Next I stamped the sheep and coloured him with Copics. I then cut him out and place him on some washi tape to ground him. I used a bit of the same washi tape on the opposite side to balance the card a little bit. I also did a bit of background stamping and lastly I added the sentiment and the lines around the edge.
I used the following Stampotique stamps for this card :

Three fish

Hello fellow Crafters,

My last entry for today is an ATC for Wicked Wednesday. The theme this week is black and white with one other colour. I chose orange :

I stamped the script on the ATC and went around the edge with the stamp pad. I then stamped the fish (Paper Smooches) 3 times on some already painted watercolour paper. I cut them out and used an orange Copic Marker to darken the top of the fish. I then glued them on the ATC after which I gave them all a googly eye !

Thanks for stopping by !

Hope you like it.....

Party time

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today I also made this tag for the Challenge over at the Tag Along Blog where the theme is 'use pink, a little or a lot'. So I used a lot...

I used two shades of pink and a white to finger paint the background, did some background stamping and used my favourite tool, the bottle cap for stamping the circles. The girl is a Lost Coast Design stamp and she comes ready with her party hat on ! When I found this sentiment in another stamp set (Paper Smooches) I thought they belonged together. I placed her on some washi tape after stamping her on white card stock and colouring her with Copics.  I matted the tag on black card stock, drew a line along the edge and put some ribbon through the hole.

Thanks for stopping by  !

Hope you  like it ...

Steampunk card

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today I made a card for Challenge #46 over at Art Journey where the theme for this month is 'ton sure ton'; using different shades of the same colour. As I only have 1 stamp set from Art Journey (yet)  which is Steampunk 3, I used that to make this card in shades of brown :

I used a bit of brown paper bag to glue on a card panel with gel medium. I used a background stamp for the text and of course the Steampunk set from Art Journey. I used an Artist Big Brush pen to accentuate the edges and make some smudges. I then adhered the panel to a Kraft Card base.

Thanks for stopping by !

Hope you like it .....

Marci is out of the box !

Hello fellow Crafters,

Happy Wednesday to you and today the lovely Arwen chose the theme for this week's Challenge: Boxes (#151). Here's what she said :

"What could be better than to give a loved one something?
To present a gift effectively, I make nice boxes to do so.
Be it for jewelry, candy, books, etc. - for all, you can make great boxes.
But the box itself is a wonderful gift idea.
Show me your boxes!
As "give away" for something or to preserve things?
I'm curious about your boxes."

Of course if you know Arwen her favourite colour is purple so I thought I wouldn't disappoint her and go purple with a bit of pink  ! !! Why not join us and have a chance to win $ 30,-- worth of those lovely stamps. Just one entry per person per challenge and not digi's !

My husband gave me this box filled with lovely chocolates and after I ate them all (yes, all of them...) I decided to use this little heart shaped box for Arwen's Challenge. I rubbed it down a bit with sandpaper to make sure the gesso would stick. Then I used pale pink paint to paint all over the little box. I painted the top of the box with crackle paint from Tim Holtz.  Next I edged the box with a Faber Castell brush marker in purple. I used the same marker to scribble over the crackles and rubbed them in. If you zoom in you can see all that lovely texture made by the crackle paint. I also used a stamp and Stazon Ink to put the text all over it. I put a ribbon around the lid. See further down for more photos. I then stamped Marci and the Flying heart on white cards stock, coloured them, clear embossed them and cut them out. Next I adhered them to the top of the box. I also added some jewels (purple of course) and went around the hearts with the same purple Faber Castell Brush Marker.
That finished it off.

I used three Stampotique stamps :
Flying heart, without the wings

Here are some more photos:

Hello fellow Crafters,

Another 5 days have gone by and so another 5 cards have been made. Here they are :

Day 6 - Use packing material

Day 7 - Green, greener, greenest

Day 8 - Love

Day 9 - Rainbow

Day 10 - Food

Thanks for stopping by !

Hope you like them.... be back soon with the next 5  !

Digi's ? Never !!

Hello fellow Crafters,

That's what I used to say about digi stamps. Until I saw the ones from the lovely and talented Janet Klein. (Janet also designs rubber stamps for Stampotique. You can find her rubber HERE.)
Her digi's are something else !! So I bought some and this is the first postcard I made:

I painted the card with blue and turquoise paint. The bottom is a bit of pattern paper. I did some sewing to add more interest. I then used this lovely Mermaid set which I coloured with Copic Markers and cut it all out. I adhered the pieces to the card and added some liquid pearls. Not perfect as I have never used them before and I found it difficult to get them all the same size. Anyway that was it.

Thanks for stopping by !

Hope you like it.....
