'Tis the season….

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today is Wednesday and you guessed it Stampotique Challenge day! Now, if you have been reading my blogposts, you know I am totally addicted to these quirky stamps ! Anyway today's Challenge is set by Nellie and this is what she said :

"I always intent to start early making my Christmas cards. But real life often gets in the way and before I know it it’s the middle of December and my Christmas cards end up being either very simple and quick or bought in a shop. So I thought why not set a Stampotique challenge to make Christmas cards in November and force myself to really make and early start. So here is what I came up with. And of course I love to see your Christmas cards or other Christmas projects!"

I have made this :

This is a # 10 tag and it was gessoed and then painted with Paperartsy pale blue paint. After this dried I rubbed a white ink pad along the edges and stamped the snowflakes with Versamark and white embossed them. The image is called Are My Pants Too Tight and you can find him HERE. I coloured him with watercolour pencils and clear embossed him. I also stamped a little present, it is Christmas after all, on gessoed book text and coloured the ribbon. The scalloped bit of paper was cut out of the same gessoed book text as was the paper the sentiment is glued on. I did some dash lines with a black marker on both. I made the sentiment with sticky letters. Lastly I made his Christmas hat from the same book paper and a bit of red glitter paper. A bit of red ribbon and a staple finished it off.

Thanks for stopping by !
Hope you like it …..

  6. Corrie, love your festive tag. Can I ask a quick question? What colours do you use for colouring the skin? My skin always looks a bit 'stupid' and so I tend to stamp on ivory cardstock and not colour at all. Your skin colours blend beautifully! Helen

    1. Hi Helen, I use watercolour pencils from Caran D'ache. They are called Prismalo II soft. For the skin I use two colours : a skin colour with the number 888-051 and a brown with the number 888-065. I use a water brush and take the colour straight from both pencils and mix the colour this way. Less colour to start and then I go darker in the shady places. I too find that the skin colour on its own is too pink and the brown is too brown. I hope this helps !

    1. Hi Serena, I stamp & colour the image and then I use a Versamark Inkpad to get a layer of embossing ink on the image. Don't rub but just press it on the stamped image. (Rubbing might smudge it) I then put clear embossing powder on it and heat it to melt. And to make things even more easy I then put the stamped and embossed image on double sided tape, cut it out and go round the cut edges with a black marker. This way you got yourself an nice bright and shiny sticker ! I hope this helps.
