Be bold, Be brave.

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog. Today I am sharing the second inspiration piece for the current challenge on Country View Challenges. The theme was chosen by Hazel and she wanted us to use circles. Now circles are one of my favourite things to use in my projects so no problem ....
I have a little tutorial as well to show you how I made this tag. To start, here is the finished product :

And here is how I made it:

I started with a white tag which I cut out of card stock.

Next I used a pallet knife to put some model paste onto the tag.

I used some bottle caps to create some circles into the wet model paste. I dipped the caps in water to prevent them sticking to the model paste. I then dried it with a heat tool.

First coat of paint, a light green.

After drying I mixed some of this turquoise paint with a glazing liquid. This makes the paint stay wet longer. I applied it over the top with a baby wipe.

This is what it looked like. I let it dry for a little while and then.....

....used a baby wipe to remove some of the colour. Some of it stays behind, especially in the grooves of the circles. Looking cool !

Next some background stamping. I used a PaperArtsy Eclectica Set and a turquoise Archival ink for the script. I also used a little stamp from the same set which has numbers and stamped that with black Archival ink.

Next I stamped one of the Crazy Birds by Tim Holtz; once on the tag and once on a piece of white card stock. I then coloured him with Copic Markers.

He was then cut out, disregarding his legs and little 'curls' on his head. They are already on the tag and it would be almost impossible to cute them out too.

This is what it looks like with him on the tag. You can't even see that I cut off his legs and 'hair'...

Next I coloured a piece of ribbon with a Dylusions spray in a colour matching the tag.

And this is what it looks like after adding the final touches, like a sentiment (a stamp set from PaperArtsy - Eclectica), some doodling along the edge and some shading under the bird.

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

She makes her own way

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blog where today I have an art journal to share that I made for Country View Challenges as an inspiration piece. The theme this month is 'circles' and was set by Hazel.

I made the background with a 3" gelli plate that I used as a stamp by brayering paint (PaperArtsy Fresco Paints) on it and then using a rubber stamp (PaperArtsy), with circles of course, to add some interest. I then stamped it onto the page and repeated until the page was full. Next I used the same stamp, with Pink Distress Ink in the conventional way and added some more circles.
I bottle cap was used for the back circles and I also used a stencil (Dylusions) and added some polkadots with white paint. For the black splatters I used a Dylusions spray ink.
Next I stamped the lady (Dina Wakley) who has circles about her also and chose a sentiment (Artistic Outpost) which I stamped on white paper and cut apart. I glued it onto the page and doodled around the strips with a black pen.
The last thing I did was draw the black lines around the edges.
I hope you will play along with us this month. Make sure to read all the rules on the Country View Challenges Blog though !

Until later in the month when I will have another inspiration piece !

Thank you for stopping by today !

Imagine

Hello everyone,

Today I am hosting the monthly challenge over at Katzelkraft ! I chose the theme of 'circles' and made an art journal. I would love it if you would play along with us this month....
Here are the rules:

  • The first rule is use Katzelkraft stamps on your entry.
  • The prize is a voucher of 15 euro that you can spend in the Katzelkraft shop. The voucher is valid for Katzelkraft rubber stamps only.
  • The challenge will close on the 25th of each month.

So, without further ado, here is my journal :

I painted the page with Dylusions paint in the colour Squeezed Orange. I used a blending tool and Rusty Hinge Distress Ink to make the edges a little darker. I then took a stencil and white Dylusions paint to make the circles. When this had dried I put the stencil back on and offset it just a little and drew in some of the circles with a pen.
Next I punched some circles out of book pages and glued them here and there on the page. I then stamped the background and the sentiment. The sentiment was clear embossed and I used a white gel pen to accentuate the letters.
The owl was stamped on white card stock, coloured with Copic Markers, clear embossed and cut out. I cut another circle from book pages, this time with a die and used the same Distress Ink around the edges and drew a smaller circle just around the edge. The owl was adhered to the circle on some washi tape. I also used some more washi tape here and there on the page. Lastly I doodled a line around the page.

I used stamped from the set KTZ142

Thank you for stopping by ! I hope I gave you enough inspiration to play along with us..
