Favourite colours & give away...

The lovely and talented Nellie is our host today over at the Stampotique Challenge blog and she wants us to use our favourite colours. This is what she said :

"No explanation needed for this week's challenge. I'm asking you to use your favourite colours. Use as many colours as you want to. I think we all have favourite colour combinations, , colours that always match, colours that work for us, colours we turn to when we lack a bit of inspiration. Mine are variations of green and blue. What are yours? Nellie"

I have several combinations that I really love but yellow/orange/pink must be my all time fave !!!
I made a postcard for her :

I coloured this card with Distress Inks and a blending tool. The colours I used were Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmelade, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry. I used one of the circles from the "Circles cube" with gray Archival ink and "Ticket for Paris" with white ink to jazz up the background a bit. I used the gray Archival to distress the edges as well. I also splattered some water on it and after it was dry some India Ink. Next I stamped the "Barcode" at the bottom om the card and a bit of it on the right and at the top. The sentiment came form the "Barcode Text #2". I put the card aside and stamped "Romek" on white card stock, colours him and his balloons with Copic Markers, clear embossed him and placed him on double sided tape. I thought it might be easier to cut out and adhere to the card if I turned him into a sticker basically. And it was. I did stamp him on the card as well as I didn't want to attempt to cut the strings of the balloons out. Anyway that was that !

Wine improves with age...

I am trying to make something for Lost Coast Designs every Tuesday. So here is my second DT piece. It is an Art Journal.

The first thing I did was die cut the Tim Holtz clock from some chipboard and glued it on the right page. I cut of the excess. Next I gessoed the page and then I wanted to use my newly acquired Gelatos. So I made a start and I didn't really like how they went on the page. So I used a baby wipe to take most of it off again and used my trusty Caran D'ache Neocolors. Much better. I used a few shades of orange and some red. The clock was coloured with Archival ink (Potting Soil) and after it dried I put some gold Gelato on. Next I used some bubble wrap and red Distress Ink to stamp the polkadots. The rings were stamped with black Dylusions and I also splattered some if that on the page together with some white ink.  Next I stamped the "Three Waiters" by Lost Cost Designs on book text, cut them out and put them aside. The sentiment was typed on some ruled paper that I die cut with another TH die and inked with Archival ink. I adhered it in two bits on to the page. I placed the waiters on top of that. I still thought the pages needed something so I used a stencil and some brown Distress ink to stencil the postmark here and there and adhered another piece of the paper I used for the sentiment in the left hand top corner.

Result of a weekend of crafting....

Last weekend I went to a Craft Retreat hosted by De Craftorij. It was very well organised by Lia and the teachers were absolutely wonderful.

On Saturday the first workshop was taught by Andy Skinner and we made two wall hangings. I really enjoyed doing something I wouldn't normally do and went out during the class to buy some of the stuff to use at home !

This is the first wall hanging, made with crackle paint and faux rusted metal....

This is the second one, made with paint and more faux rusted metal....

On day 2, I went to join France Papillon to make an art journal. The coptic binding was not easy to do (I am blond, you see, lol) but France helped me to finish it and I think the end result looks awesome ! 

In the afternoon we started doing spreads in our journal. This first one is when France told us what to do/use to create layers....

This last one, France made us do a spread on our own and put into practice what we learned about journaling but also about ourselves....

Bad Idea

Another Wednesday, another challenge, set by the lovely Kristen today. Her theme is 'Ghouls & Goblins'. This is what she said:

"Calling all Pumpkins, Ghosts, Dragons, and Witches too, we’ve got a SPOOKY time planned just for you!!!!!!I completely LOVE Halloween, and any chance I get to make a spooky project, I will. This week I am challenging you to create a project inspired by Halloween.  Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Kristen"

I did another art journal, yes I know boring.... but I like doing journals...
Here it is :

I started off with painting my page bright orange with acrylic paint. I then used yellow in the spot where the chandelier was going to go. Next some background stamping with grey, white, yellow and orange inks. I used several stamps for this which I will list underneath. I then stamped the chandelier on white card stock and coloured it with a mixture of paints and alcohol markers. After this was all dry I clear embossed it and cut it out. I didn't cut all the little bits out but painted these in the same colour as the background with a tiny brush. I placed the chandelier in the middle of the yellow spot and drew the chain. Next Batboy was dusted off and stamped on white card stock and coloured with alcohol markers. He too was clear embossed and had to undergo some arm surgery to put him in the position I needed him to be, to be able to swing from the chandelier. After adhering him I stamped the barcode and one of the sentiments that go with it.

Words have no power...

I am very productive at the moment and have made a tag for the Tag Along Challenge blog as well. The theme this week is Edgar Allan Poe. And here he is:

The tag was coloured with Lindy's Spray Ink in Pop Rock Purple. I stamped a big background stamp with Grey Archival ink on it. It is by Stampendous and it called 'Raven Background'. I used the same ink to ink the edges of the tag. The sentiment is a quote by Edgar Allan Poe and was made with an old typewriter, cut out, matted on a piece of gelli print I was given in a swap and adhered to the tag. Edgar is by Octopode and was stamped on white paper, coloured, cut out and adhered on the tag with  another piece of the same gelli print as a base. A third piece was used in the top right corner. After a bit of doodling here and there and adding the ribbon it was done !

Does my new hat make me look fat ?

As some of you might know, I've been asked to join the DT from Lost Coast Designs and I have gracefully accepted... I will try and make something every week... I will also place it on the Inkadinkadutchies FB page HERE.
I have made a postcard for this week:

I coloured my postcard with Lindys Flat Fabio spray ink and then used a flower stencil with blue Distress Ink. I tore a piece of patterned paper and glued it at the bottom of my card. Next I stamped the 'Feathery bird'. I decided to borrow a hat from one of the 'Los Tres Caballeros' and use it for the bird. Next I splattered ink, white and black and used the black ink also to stamp the rings with a bottle top. The last thing I did was stamp the sentiment from 'Swimsuit girl', die cut it and a piece of black patterned paper to mat it on and glued the whole thing to the card.

Hallo iedereen, 

Vandaag, niet zoals je van mij verwacht, een berichtje in het Nederlands. 

Today, unusual for me, a blogpost in Dutch. 

Ik vind het vreselijk leuk te vertellen dat ik op zondag 16 november een workshop Art Journaling ga geven bij 'De Scrapheap' in Sprang Capelle. Dit is voor mij dubbel feest omdat dit iets is wat ik allang wilde gaan doen en nu eindelijk de kans hiervoor krijg en omdat Sprang Capelle voor mij bekend gebied is want ik ben vlak daarbij geboren en ik heb mijn jeugd daar doorgebracht. 

I am so excited to tell you that on Sunday the 16th of November I will be teaching a work shop Art Journaling at 'de Scrapheap' in Sprang Capelle. This is a great pleasure for me as I have wanted to do this for ages and I was born and raised very near Sprang Capelle. So it is like going home..

Artjournaling met Corrie (€ 35,00) 16 november (8 beschikbaar)

Corrie Herriman, een van de Stampotique Designers, gaat voor ons deze workshop verzorgen.

Je werkt in een klein Dylusions Journal, met heel veel verschillende stencils, stempels, verfjes, inkten etc

Je leert een aantal leuke technieken, waar je in je latere "Artjournal carriere" veel plezier van gaat hebben.

Wij zorgen voor alle materialen (inclusief het journal) om 2 dubbele pagina's te maken in je journal. Kleuren, stempels en teksten kies je zelf uit, dus je maakt het helemaal naar je zin. 

Heb je zelf een leuke tekst (stempel) die je wilt gebruiken, neem hem dan vooral mee. We hebben ook een flink assortiment alfabetstempels, dus je kunt ook je eigen teksten maken.

De beide voorbeeldpagina's zijn met verschillende technieken en materialen gemaakt. In het workshopbedrag zit, naast het al het benodigde materiaal , de hele dag koffie, thee of fris met iets lekkers en natuurlijk een lekkere broodjeslunch. Op eventuele aankopen krijg je 10% korting. Vergeet niet je basisgereedschap, zoals mesje, schaar, snijmachine, liniaal, lijm en dubbelzijdig tape, maar ook een schort (wij hebben eventueel plastic schorten beschikbaar) en een zwarte en witte pen (er zijn er een paar beschikbaar, maar dan moet je op elkaar wachten).  Deze workshop wordt gehouden op zondag 16 november van 10.00 tot 16.00 uur en wordt gegeven door Corrie Herriman

You're weird...

Today, over at the Stampotique Challenge blog the lovely and talented Carol is our hostess. She likes us to make something 'black, purple and pink'.  This is what she said:

" I love strong colours that really pop on the page, so I ask you this week to feature Black, Pink and Purple on your make for the challenge this week. "  Carol x

I sat at my desk for ages pondering what I could make. I then spotted 'Unicorn's cousin' from the new release and though he or she would look very pretty in pink ! So that was that; another art journal was in the making :

I did cheat a little and have some white in my spread as otherwise it would be way too dark for my liking. I did these pages in a little journal that I made at the Craftorij a few weeks ago. It is filled with lovely Mixed Media paper and works very well. 

I sprayed the pages with Goosebumps, which is a texture spray. It reminds me of liquid glue actually. It gives texture but also can be used as a resist as I did here. I used a blending tool and purple Distress Ink to colour the pages. The Goosebumps patches stay white. 

Next I stamped a circle randomly over the spread, this is another new release stamp. It is a cube with 4 different circles which were meant for making calendar pages but I think it is great as a background stamp. 

I then stamped 'Unicorn's cousin' twice on some white card stock,  coloured them and cut them out. I took a black marker and went around the cut edges and glued them down on my page. I only used a part of the second one. The sentiment was made with a label machine. 

I used the following two stamps from the new release:

Waiting for Mr. Right and some great news !

Finally I can share my good news with you. A while ago I was asked by Linda from  Lost Coast Designs Stamps to join the Design Team. And of course I accepted. There are now 4 Dutch ladies on the team which is great: Esther Glas, Coby van Willigenburg, Yvonne Koops and little old me ! Of course there are other ladies which I shall add to the sidebar of my blog soon.
To celebrate I made an Art Journal:

The pages were painted with gesso and coloured with Pan Pastels in 3 shades of turquoise. I stamped the LCD  "3 birds" in the background. You can just see them if you look closely. I cut some circles and a strip out of book text and coloured all these pieces with Distress Inks in yellows and oranges. I punched a scallop at the bottom of the strip. Next I adhered these pieces to the pages. I used a spray bottle top and white and black paint to stamp the circles. I used a black fine pen do doodle around the scalloped piece. I then took a stencil and used part of it to stencil the black chevrons.

Next I stamped the '50s girl" on white paper and coloured her, cut her out and placed her on the scalloped piece. The sentiment I used came from another LCD stamp called "Waiting for Mr. Right". I thought it was quite funny in combination with this girl.  Some spattering with black and white ink finished it off.

She knows her own strength

Next to all the bright colours I use in my projects, I also love vintage.. So when I saw that Artistic Outpost (vintage stamps) has a monthly challenge, I decided to play. This months theme is anything goes. I used one of my new stamp sets for this card.

I used half a sheet of a light kraft card stock for the base which I scored and folded into a card. Next I cut some dark kraft card a tiny bit smaller, distressed and inked the edges. I then cut a bit of pattern paper, again slightly smaller than the dark kraft panel and inked the edges. Next I adhered the pattern paper to the panel. I used the stamp set 'Cowgirl Strength' and stamped on of the images on another piece of pattern paper and matted this on some dark kraft card, again distressing in inking the edges. I adhered this piece to the panel with brads. The sentiment was stamped on the same paper as the girl, cut apart, inked and adhered to the panel. Lastly I adhered the flower which was made with Tim Holtz fabric that was gifted to me ! and the Tim Holtz Tattered floral die. I stiffened the fabric after die cutting with gel medium. A bit of metal in the heart finished it off.

I have made an art journal. As this is in my journal I can't give it away. That is why I made a postcard in the same style which I will be giving away. So leave a comment on my blog and I will choose a winner on the 21st of October. Who knows, it might be you !!!

Both projects were made in the same way. I painted the background with Paperartsy Fresco Paint in pink and then used white, the same pink from the background and some darker pink to finger paint the circles. Next I used a bottle cap to stamp the circles with white paint and black India Ink. 

I then stamped a lot of doggies, coloured them all and cut them out. I also cut out some party hats for them which were coloured too. Next I glued them to the page with their hats on their heads. Lastly I put on the sentiment for which I used the same paper as for the hats.

The witching hour

Over at Tag Along the theme this week is Spooktacular. I hadn't played in a while so today I thought I'd have a go.

I coloured a #8 tag with orange and purple Distress Inks. The skulls were stamped with the same colours to get a tone on tone effect. In between the colours I stamped the gravestones. I then decided to stamp a spiderweb over the whole thing which I embossed with holographic powder. Unfortunately you can't see the lovely sparkle it has. Next I stamped the witch, coloured the few bits that were white and clear embossed her. I then cut her out and glued her on the tag. Lastly I stamped the sentiment and white embossed it,  inked the edges with black soot Distress Ink and put a ribbon through the hole. 

That was it. 

The stamps I used are mostly from VivaLasVegaStamps! Just the spiderweb is from Stampotique.

Magical Wings

Today I have an art journal to share which I will enter into the Lost Coast Design Challenge for October where the theme is 'wings'.

The start was a gelli print and I used some model paste and a stencil to create the flowers. I stamped the winged woman (by LCD) and the sentiment both on white card stock, coloured them, cut them out and clear embossed them. I then adhered everything to the page. Lastly I drew some lines around the page.

Spooky !

Another month, another challenge. Of course it is october and that means Halloween ! 

So I made a Halloween tag :

My take on the mood board :

"Bring forth some of your best spooky, creepy crawly, terrifying goodness. Please feel free to enter any type of project; altered art, ATCs, cards, layouts, journal pages and more! Also, be inspired by whatever you want; the checkered background, gray, white, black, a splash of one color, kids &costumes, jack-o-lanterns & pumpkins, spiders, webs, magic, tentacles, potions and potions ingredients, you name it! One voted winner will receive a grab bag, a badge, and a spotlight. One random winner will receive a grab bag".

I started with a page from the novel "Something wicked this way comes", which I tried to read but didn't like. So now it is used for crafting. I glued this to a tag and started stamping the checks with a bit of packaging foam that I cut into a square. More recycling ! 

I then used a yellow water soluble crayon for the splash of colour and stamped the moon in it. I also used this crayon with a water brush to colour the witches face, hands and feet. 

From then it was a case of stamping the different element onto the tag with light grey, dark grey and black inks. All stamps I used are from VLVS!

That was it !

and happy Wednesday to you. Today it is my turn to host the Challenge over at the Stampotique Designers' Challenge blog and I want you all to use book text. This is such a versatile material and when I get a bit stuck I regularly reach for an old book to use the pages. Play along with us and you will have a chance to win one of two $30 vouchers to spend in the Stampotique shop at the end of the month. Just remember : only one entry per person per challenge and no digi's.

I made an art journal:

The background is a gelli print. I had a great afternoon a few weeks ago just gelli printing and the results are quite good. Anyway, I cut it to size and then started with some background stamping with 'French Journal Page' and 'Hexagon'. I used Distress ink & White ink for this. I then stamped 'Crow Line' and 'Daisy daisy' and coloured the flower petals with a white pen. Next I stamped Bowtie on book text and clear embossed him. I cut him out and set him aside. With a border punch I cut some bits of book text and inked them with blue and black ink. Next I adhered them at the bottom of my page and a little bit on every other side of the pages for a bit of balance. Then it was time for 'Bowtie' to take his place between the flowers. Lastly I stamped the sentiment 'There is a whole world..'.

Handle with care..

Finally I had time to craft again and I decided to make a tag for Coby's Challenge over at the Craftorij. I used a few of the new release stamps for this.

Usually when I make anything I do the background first and then the image, which I stamp separately, cut out and adhere to my project. Today I decided to do a one layer tag. 

I cut a tag out of white card stock and started with stamping the girl named "Dwindled" on it with Memento Ink. I then used water soluble crayons and a water brush to colour carefully around her. Obviously the water would smudge the stamped image if not carefully applied. I then used my alcohol markers to colour the girl. Next I did some background stamping using black Archival Ink an a Big Brush Marker, applied directly to my stamps. For this I used 'Ticket for Paris' and one of the circles of the 'Circles Cube'. 

Next I used some model paste with a Tim Holtz stencil. After this dried I rubbed it with silver paint and black ink to get a grungy effect. I also rubbed my Archival Ink pad around the edges. Lastly I stamped the sentiment 'Handle with care' and put a ribbon through the hole.

Embrace imperfection...

Last month I won $10 worth of Lost Coast Design Stamps in their Challenge. So I used one of them for this art journal. I enjoyed making this.

The pages were painted with PaperArtsy Fresco Paints in different shades of yellow. I then looked in my stash and found a piece of paper that was coloured with purple and yellow Distress Ink. So I decided to use a die and cut it up. Next I shuffled the pieces around on the paper until I liked it and then glued them down. I did some background stamping and then went over to do the main image. She is called 'Head in hands'  and is from Lost Coast Designs and I think she is lovely. She was stamped with purple Distress Ink on a bit of book paper that didn't have any text on it. I doodled around the image and stapled it onto some corrugated cardboard. I did the same to the sentiment, which I stamped with black Archival and is from a Tim Holtz set. The butterflies on the left trellis are from VLVS! I stamped them on the book paper with black Archival ink after I coloured it with purple Distress ink. The last thing was a doodled line around the pages.

Birdlady goes vintage.

It is my turn to post a DT piece for Roc. I thought I'd go vintage to show you how versatile these stamps are. I also love paper piecing and I don't do it enough so today I sort of did some; I just used fabric instead of paper. Anyway here is the result :

The #8 tag was coloured with Distress Inks: Tattered Rose and Pumice Stone. I used the same inks to randomly stamp the background with Roc's 'Heartvine' stamp and a bottle cap and to do some splattering. I replaced the hearts on heartvine with butterflies. I used a punch and some texted pattern paper for these. Next I selected a few bits of ephemera (Tim Holtz - Thrift Shop) and adhered them on the tag. The bird at the top was cut out. Next I stamped 'Bird lady' on white card stock twice with Memento Ink and once on fabric with StaZon; I did stamp the little pocket of the jacket again as I wanted a different bit of the pattern. Of the paper version of 'Birdlady' I coloured her face, hair, wings and shoes and on the second one the hand and the bird in the pocket. I then cut out the paper version and the fabric version. Next I adhered her fabric coat, hat and trousers on top of the paper version. I then glued the paper bird and hand on top of the coat and the little fabric pocket under the bird. Pff... are you still with me... we're getting there.... I drew a line and some doodles around the edge of the tag, put some shadows around the butterflies and  ephemera. Lastly I dotted some Liquid Pearl here and there and ripped another piece of fabric to put through the hole.

and happy Humpday to you all. Kim is our hostess over at the Stampotique Designers Challenge blog today and she wants us to make something 'masculine'. Here's what she said:

"Happy Hump Day!

I'm so excited to host the challenge this week as it's one I'm always struggling with.  In a home where the males outweigh the females, you wouldn't think it would take much to create a masculine card, but it's something I have a hard time doing every time I sit down to make one.  I challenge you to show me your best masculine cards this week-are they ones that come naturally to you or do you draw a blank when you need to create one as well?

Can't wait to see all the possibilities you come up with this week!"

I made another postcard; I think I am addicted to making postcards....

I covered a postcard with patterned paper from a pack that I bought recently and which contains Mixed Media papers. It is by Spellbinders and I love it... Over the top I stamped the 'French Journal Page' and the 'Splattered Mug'. I then got some images from the same paper pack; the postage stamps and the word 'explorateur'.  I aged all the edges with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. Next I took the card to the sewing machine and did some random stitching. A bit of washi tape was added in three places and then it was time for the main image 'Heart Boy'. He was stamped on white card stock, coloured with Copic Markers, clear embossed and cut out. I went around the cut edges with a black marker to hide any imperfections. I glued him to the card and used a grey Copic Marker to put some shadow under his feet.
