Magical Wings..

Hello fellow Crafters,

It's Wednesday and that means Stampotique Challenge day, yay !!! Today Tanja has set the theme and she wants us to make something monochromatic. Now for somebody like me who loves bright colours and lots of them, this was quite difficult. But I decided to go all the way and do black and white. I made this little ATC :

I used a plain white ATC card and started with doing some background stamping for which I used 'Fax toWolfgang' and grey StaZon ink, which I also used for distressing the edges of the card. I then stamped 'Seaweed' with black ink and coloured it in with different shades of grey. 'L'il Tatawea' was stamped on pattern paper with text and also coloured in with different shaded of grey. (No, not 50, lol).
The words came from 'Tall WordCollage', I stamped them on the same pattern paper and cut them out. I then glued everything on the card and that was that !

Thanks for stopping by !

How much is that doggy in the window ??

Hello fellow crafters,

Hello and happy Wednesday to you. This week it is my turn to host the Designers Challenge over at the Stampotique blog. Now if you are anything like me, you will keep all wrapping paper, cardboard and of course acetate (clear plastic). We all get lots of it : packaging. I particularly like acetate to use in my projects, whether it is to stamp on or use it in any other way. I just love it. So this week I would like YOU to use a bit of acetate. Let your imagination run wild and surprise me !!!

Here is what I made :

I made this 'shop' out of a bit of packaging cardboard, I cut it to size, removed a rectangle in the 'front wall' for the window. I then made a box and glued it behind the window to make the 'shop window'. I then painted it, first with gesso and then with a grey acryllic paint. I drew the bricks on separate paper, coloured them and cut them out. I then glued them to the 'wall'. I rubbed the whole thing with some black soot Distress Ink to make it look a bit more weathered. I then glued some pattern paper in the shop window and made a cushion out of felt for Shoogy to sit on. Here's where the acetate comes in. I used the plastic that came with a clear stampset and cut a bit that was slightly bigger then the window. I used sticky letters to put the word 'petshop' on it. I then glued it over the 'shopwindow'. I used some woodgrain pattern paper for the 'windowframe' and glued it over the edge of the plastic. So now the dog is for sale in the petshop. I also used Carol's flower and stamped them on white paper, coloured them with colour pencils and clear embossed them. Lastly I printed the sentiment which is of course a song title and glued it on the panel underneath the shop. The whole thing was put together with chain and rings from my jewelry making days.

ATC Swap

I made this ATC for the swap that has been organised by Nikki Woodward on the Stampotique FB page. This is the second swap she has organised so thank you Nikki. Mine went to the lovely Sam Read in the UK; she is one of my teammates on the Stampotique DT. She has received it now so I can post it:

The theme was 'out if the box'. I thought it would be very much out of the box if a bird really landed on a cat's tail. I've used acryllic paint, some background stamps and Stampotique's Chessy and one of the Stacked Birds.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Hope you like it.....

Best buddies

Hello fellow Crafters,

It's Wednesday and that means another Challenge over at Stampotique. The theme was set by Kathi and she wants us to make perfect pairs. Now, did you know that every month there are two $ 30,-- vouchers to win. So why not give it a go and who knows, you might just be lucky ! You don't have to use Stampotique stamps but you have to use real stamps, no digi's allowed.

Here's what I made:

I used a Water colour Moleskine journal and started with water colours in yellow and orange. I then used a Doily stencil with similar colours Distress Ink. I used the following Stampotique stamps:
Sheep monster was stamped twice, coloured, clear embossed and put on double sided tape. I coloured the cut edges with a black marker. I had to do some surgery on their arms to make sure they could hold hands. The Bushes were stamped on booktext, I reversed one of them to keep the symmetry. I coloured them with colour pencils. I glued everything on the page and drew a bit of a line to stand everything on. Lastly I used some sticky letters to form the words.

Journal 52 - week 6 - the lost art of love letters

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today I made this art journal page for Journal 52. The prompt for this week is : The lost art of love letters.

I painted the background pink and used a stencil and Distress Ink to create a pattern. The big heart was cut out of an old magazine and gessoed. I very lightly stamped some hearts on it. Also I doodled the black and white border around it. I made the postcard from white card stock which I distressed and cut out some more hearts, one out of the same old magazine and two from pattern paper. I used one of these papers as well to put the kissing couple on. They came from a collage sheet from my stash. The flowers were ready to go as I made them for another project and didn't use them. Lastly I used sticky letters to put the F. Scott Fitzgerald quote onto the heart. That was it!

ATC with attitude ..

Hello fellow Crafters,

Also today, I made this ATC:

I painted the background with some blue paint mixed with some yellow to make this greeny colour. I stamped a Tim Holtz stamp on it with white ink and clear embossed it. I then went round the circles with a white paint pen. I also used a text stamp and grey ink and used the same ink pad to go around the edges. I later repeated that with black. Little Smile (Stampotique) was stamped on white card stock and coloured and clear embossed. I also stamped him on the ATC with Stazon ink. This way you get all the little details when you put the cut image on top. The cut out image was placed on some washi tape. I found this sentiment somewhere on the internet I think I thought it was really fitting with this stamp.

Girlpower

Hello fellow Crafters,

I made this art journal page today.

I bought some twinkling H2O's and glimmer mists to try when I was at the Craftorij last Saturday. So first I used my new sprays and H2O's to make the background. I can't say that I am very impressed with the 'glimmer factor'. I always buy 2 or 3 from a new article so I can try it out before deciding to buy a lot of them. In this case I don't think I will buy more.
I used a stencil and some white ink to put the letters on the background and also used a stamp with numbers and a bottle cap to make the rings. After stencilling and stamping I splattered some black ink on it and doodled a line around it. So that was the background. I also bought this Doll Stamp en stamped her on white card stock, coloured and clear embossed her. I glued her to some pattern paper with text to make her stand out a bit more. She is standing on some gessoed book page paper which I cut out by hand and stamped the word 'girl power' on.

Every girl is a superhero sometimes

Hello fellow Crafters,

This is an art journal page I made for the Round Robin I am taking part in.

I used Dylusions in pink and yellow to make the background. I did this on separate watercolour paper because these sprays go everywhere and I didn't want to make a mess of this journal.
I used some stencils and background stamps and one of my favourite tools, a cookie cutter to create some interest. I also dripped some black ink on it. The stamps I used for the focal images are from Stampotique. One is called 'Banner' and was designed by France Papillon, the other is 'Marci' and she was designed by Daniel Torrente.  I stamped them both on book paper that I gessoed first. The sentiment was made with sticky letters on book text also. Lastly I doodled a line around the pages and glued them in the journal.

Birthday card

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today I made a card for Challenge # 7 over at the Stamping Cottage. This time it is a colour challenge: Yellow - Green - Blue. This is what I made:

I made the background by using a homemade polkadot stencil and model paste. I then covered everything in gesso. I coloured it with Distress Inks in Peeled paint, Salty ocean and Mustard Seed. I then 'ghosted' another stencil on the top. (Put a stencil on, sprayed it with water and mopped the water up which makes the lighter pattern.) I coloured another bit of paper with the same colours and ghosted it with the same stencil. I used a Stampotique stamp (Carol's flower, Large) as the focal point and cut it out. I then cut another circle from white card stock and glued the focal image onto that. The whole thing was then adhered to the card with pop dots. Lastly I stamped the happy birthday (also Stampotique) and adhered the panel to the card.

True Love...

Hello fellow Crafters,

Over at the Tag Along Challenge blog it is time for a new Challenge and I was chosen to host it, yay !!!!

"Because we are in the month of Valentine's day, romance and love I chose the theme 'Pink Love''.  I am very excited to see what you all come up with. Good luck !"

This is what I made :

So, I started with a #8 Manilla tag and decided to go Vintage. I used Distress Inks to colour the tag and then distressed it with Vintage Photo DI. I also rubbed a brown Archival Ink pad around the edge to define it a bit. I then did some background stamping with more pink ink and decided to stamp some butterflies and white emboss them. I used a picture from a collage sheet which I had in my stash and also some flowery rub ons. I doodled around the tiny hearts and put the words on which I made with a label maker. I matted the tag on dark brown paper and put some lacey ribbon through the hole and that was that !

When your heart speaks...

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today the Challenge over at Stampotique is : Include a heart in your art. The theme was set by Jackie and this is what she said :

"In Ancient Rome 13, 14 and 15th of February were celebrated as Lupercalia, a pagan fertility festival. By the mid 18th century, the passing of love notes had become popular in England, precursor to the St Valentines Day card as we know it today. Early cards were made of paper and lace. By the 19th century they became so popular that factories started to mass- produce them.
So as the  14th approaches it's time for you  to put a heart in our Art  and then show us what you have made.
I am looking forward to seeing all the different ways you add a heart to your art! "

If you want to win $ 30,-- worth of those lovely stamps why not play along ? This is what I made :

I started with a white ATC. I cut out a heart from white scratch paper and used that as a mask. I used Distress Inks in Pink and Orange around the heart and then doodled the black and white border along the outside of the heart. I used the following Stampotique stamps :
Fax to Wolfgang (background with pink Archival ink)
I only used part of Heart Shirt. He was stamped on white paper and coloured with alcohol markers and clear embossed after which I glued part of him on the ATC. I stamped the sentiment on some pink patterned paper, cut it apart, distressed the edges with black ink and glued it on the card.
That was it really !

Moo….

Hello fellow Crafters,

Now, I always thought that 'moo' was something a cow said…. But over at the Craftorij FB page Coby has challenged us to make a 'moo' which is a small (very small) card, measuring 2.8 x 7 centimetres. About 1.1 inch by 2.7 inches for the non-metrics amongst us. I made this :

I cut a bit of white card stock to size and put gesso over it. I then used a Twinkling H2O in orange. I bought a couple this weekend to try out. The background looks a bit metallic but it sure doesn't twinkle.  I stamped the Seaweed stamp on it and used a whit pen to colour in the circles. Because the H2O's are water based it mixed with the white and made it more yellow. I doodled a border around the card and then stamped Kitty on book text and adhered her to the card. Lastly I used a rub on saying 'curiosity'.

Art Journaling Club Day

Hello fellow Crafters,

Last Saturday I went to the Craftorij with a friend and spent a day Art journaling. The idea was to make a tree out of bits of book paper. The inspiration was Christy Tomlinson. This is what I made:

We started with adhering bit of torn pattern paper on the pages and then painting them so that some of the patterns still peeked through. After that we tore book texts into small bits and created a tree from them. I couldn't stop and made the houses from book paper as well. I used some more pattern paper for the leaves and the doors and windows of the houses. We did some background stamping and used Pitt brush pens to create shadows around all the objects. I then found Mela in my bag. (Always leave home prepared, lol) and decided to put her under the tree for a pop of colour. I then stamped the circles with red ink on reddish pattern paper, cut them out, glued them on and doodled around them as well.

It was a very enjoyable day with likeminded people, lots of  refreshments during the day and a nice lunch too.

Thanks for stopping by !

Hope you like it.

Just be U

Hello fellow Crafters,

Today is the 1st of February and that means it is my turn to post some more art. I made this art journal using Roc's 'Just Be U' stamp. You can get this and all other Roc Stamps from Stampotique Originals HERE.

Also don't forget to check out Roc's blog and FB page !!!

I started by painting my journal page with water colours in yellow, orange and red. I then took a stencil and used Distress Inks in similar colours to create the flowers. I used a black and a white pen to doodle around some of the flowers to create a bit more interest. I drew a 'washing line' on which a placed some birds. These birds were isolated from the 'just Be U' stamp and coloured, clear embossed, cut out and glued on the washing line. I then stamped the whole 'Just Be U' stamp, coloured it with alcohol markers, cut it out and glued it on the page. That was it.
