I t...Hi Val-Belle, thank you for visiting my blog ! I think you will enjoy playing with Mixed Media because it is so much fun ! I will try to answer your questions.
1)Using gesso on your page is entirely up to you. If you want to continue with acrylic paints you'll find they go on easier on top of gesso and you also don't need as much as it won't all get soaked up by your paper. Sometimes it is nice to just try things out. I use gesso f.i. with spray inks because I like the effect but you don't have to. Maybe you should make yourself a little swatchbook with pages or tags with different materials, use paints with and without gesso, use inks with and without gesso etc. You can always have a look later to see what effect you want for your project.
2) I usually have an idea of what colours I want to use and what stamps. Most of what I do is for design teams so I have to use certain stamps and sometimes certain materials. It's also nice to just put a layer of something down and see where the mood takes you.
3) There is some science to how products work or don't work together but it is great fun to find out while you experiment !
I hope this helped ! Let me know if you have any more questions ! There is a 'contact me' button on the right hand side if you'd rather send me an e-mail... Have fun !
Corrie Corrie Herrimanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03083685691278040788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8653258524655823327.post-501183116736151442019-02-26T14:19:05.827+01:002019-02-26T14:19:05.827+01:00Ah ok so I found your blog on the group... I am so...Ah ok so I found your blog on the group... I am sorry if this is a bit stalkerish but I am so excited to start playing with my stamps and stencils in a different way. My normal style is very clean and simple and I am really keen to get into a bit of mixed media by playing small first in an art journal book. So I have a couple of questions...
1. Do you gesso your page first and if not how do you decide if you need to or not.
2. Do you have an idea of what you want to do before you start or does your idea evolve as you are playing along.
3. Is it all trial and error or is there at least some science to it all.
Thank you in advance.
I really love your projects :D Val-Bellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16987733200402725988noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8653258524655823327.post-65109255055121842182019-02-24T02:55:16.355+01:002019-02-24T02:55:16.355+01:00thanks for the tutorial, love your background :)thanks for the tutorial, love your background :)Christine Alexanderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04643022474140754424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8653258524655823327.post-81945542244541137512019-02-23T17:21:44.356+01:002019-02-23T17:21:44.356+01:00BeautifulBeautifulDorahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16121569127303794018noreply@blogger.com
